  • Depends on the person... prioritizing taking notes over just listening is a great way to prevent me from actually hearing what I'm supposed to be listening to. I can remember ridiculously specific things if you don't expect me to... but if I look like I'm listening (which takes specific effort,) or am acting like I'm…
  • Not to mention that jogging is way more effective than it is in real life. Seems to burn more calories, and they don't have the runger issue.
  • Seems to be working now... But yes, it had to be restarted at 9 PM EST. Restarting it "right away" did not count. It had to be at that time, not before. I don't recall any other updates for any program or game having that kind of requirement.
  • You can always set households to unplayed when you select them in Manage Households. So if you don't need it to be autonomous, you can just do it yourself.
  • I find it really funny that that's almost the opposite of how I've played it. At first I always used money cheats, but after a while it started seeming repetitive, and financial limitations made it more interesting. Now I usually feel like it's just too easy for sims to make money, even without cheats, so I don't have any…
  • Especially since there are those hidden non-trait traits like whether they like or hate fruitcake, or whether they prefer the heat or cold. For that matter, does anybody know if there's any heritability to the pseudo-traits?
  • Why isn't there a "neither" option? I get them off the gallery, but then pretty much mutilate them beyond recognition.
  • I don't see why it would be an IP issue if mods, sims-related sites, and paid support for mods are all okay.. it seems like basically the same idea.
  • Overall, the sims is more sandbox than game, and Strangerville is the most game-like of the Sims packs.. not surprising that it'd sell well on a game platform.
  • I used cheats at first.. but after playing a bit, it becomes harder to make sims struggle financially than to make them succeed. The normal stuff they want to do makes money. Plant, paint, harvest, etc... just completing their whims makes money. Use the NanoCan trashcan thing, and it's hard to make a family have any money…
  • Why would it be? But really, unless you're doing a specific challenge, it's all just a matter of what you want to do in your game, the story you want to create. I'm not quite sure how you'd go about creating a "normal" game type situation in the sims. For the most part, you make your own rules. The challenge you want to…
  • It's really easy to do if you get to a thread by googling a particular question, and just don't notice that it was old.
  • In game, a restaurant is basically a bar, it's just a matter of what you serve.. but I don't think you can own multiple restaurants. You could also place a bar on your home lot and schedule parties or club gatherings. Or there are mods that can create a similar function. I think it depends on the degree to which you're…
  • They go jogging whenever they start getting fat.
  • I usually play for bits of time between doing other things. I leave it paused a lot.
  • Fairly recently it seems that even if your sim stays on the lot, the "kidnapped" sim's needs will "miraculously" regenerate. I had my (female) apartment-dwelling sim trap a neighbor who had repeatedly invited himself over with an "oh, you don't mind, do you? Well even if you do, I'm staying anyway" bit. And as a woman who…
  • Personally, I'm waiting for a sale; the way I see it, the expansions packs are priced with the assumption that most people will buy them at a discount. But really, it depends on your time:money balance... and nobody else can know exactly where that is. If you have more money than time, then buy it now. If you have more…
  • What are you looking for? You're asking as though you want "what's good for the children," but you're talking about a game in which you've created characters that can only exist in difficult situations. Happy families don't generally make for interesting stories. So.. are you looking for the happiest situation for your…
  • Isn't that the point? Really, you have to enjoy something to (reasonably) spend time talking about what you don't like about it. You complain about aspects of a thing because they make you enjoy that thing less. What's the point of complaining about something you just don't like at all? It's like complaining about some…
  • There's also a "windowed full screen" mode or something like that, but I just always use windowed and maximize it.
  • I think I'd prefer if they left the current toddlers as they are, but improved the babies into actual sims. Everything you mentioned would be covered by really bringing the babies into the game as maybe 6mo-1yr old sims rather than the current baby-objects.
  • It should be pointed out that the ultra setting isn't completely consistent between setups. I was using ultra even before a recent upgrade, but the setting is dependent on your graphics and monitor resolutions. My settings are no different, but the actual experience is. I had been using a Nvidia 560 GTX TI, and am now…
  • Can't the leader step down themselves? I didn't think they had to leave the club to abdicate as leader.
  • I'm wondering what the difference (in the game) is between being freelance and self-employed? They're not exactly synonyms, but in game terms, it seems like freelance would fall under the umbrella of self-employment.
  • Actually it doesn't delete them immediately, it places them in their own unplayed not-in-world household, like it does with ghosts; you should be able to find them if you go through your "other households" tab. (That's what it does with babies that are taken away, anyway. I tested it out a while ago when somebody was…
  • You can also set it separately for played and unplayed households. Aging for played households give you options for aging on, aging only for active household, and aging off. Then there's a checkbox for whether you want unplayed households to age.
  • Pretty sure the core aspect is just simply what everybody says about babies: that the programming that makes them be essentially an object attached to the bassinet is kinda bizarre and incongruent.
  • The question was about a pack, though.. When I pay for something on Patreon, I'm fairly sure that it's going to the person who did/does the work. I'd be skeptical about a pack advertised as being created by fans.
  • A lot of me wants to give the "yes, and I couldn't live without it!" Except that when I tried out TS3 with Origin Access I realized that the thing that seems most important to me that I use MCCC for -- the ability to customize age spans -- actually used to be a built-in feature. Makes me very uncertain as to how to define…
