  • My point was that they can program it in. Not what they can or can't do at the moment. Sadly, just one more feature removed/ not added to TS4.
  • Seems to me they only need come up the elevator or stairs to get to apartment to put out fire. They need no roads, they simply appear outside the elevator or stairs to do their business.
  • Yeah I guess I just (here we go again) "thought" that fire dept. & police were in the base game. I've rarely played TS4, spent most of my time in TS3 so just assumed (you know, made an 🐸🐸🐸🐸 out of me) that something as basic was in the base game. So by the time that I had my first kitchen fire in TS4 it was after buying…
  • It is sad. I shouldn't have said "what was I thinking" I should have said "what was EA thinking". This is just ridiculous and feels like a shell of a game. Here I thought, buy some expansions, and flesh out the game... Not with the expansions I bought,. Sad that I can't refund expansion packs or I would. Shame, EA, shame…
  • WTH? Why did I just give the franchise another $60.00 for expansions when something as basic as a fire dept isn't available? What was I thinking. Game has been out for far too many years to not have fire fighters, police or burglars. A total waste of money on my part. I was hoping for so much more with the expansions.
  • Always thought of myself as a builder, love to build my houses... Burt I guess acording to the poll I'm laid-back
  • Thank you, I completely forgot that there is a search function in TS4.
  • Pick up a book on architecture, specifically books showcasing houses. I did that a few years back, found a book of nearly 2500 models of homes, then I started to duplicate them into Sims 3 homes, after a while you sort of pick up what will work and what looks funky in the game because sometimes you simply can't exactly…
  • The Sims 3: Big city life. An expansion pack devoted to living in a major metropolis like New York, or Los Angeles (but in the downtown area, not the suburbs) with all that comes with it. Major crime, no rabbit holes, major high rise buildings, plenty of new jobs, enough sims shown at a time to fill such a metropolis, i.e.…
  • I've tried both "on" and adaptive. I recently tried setting things globally to force vsync on and in TS3 I'm still getting over 150 fps. Is there something I have to set in the game options to make it work? I did update to the latest Nvidia drivers for W10, 355.82 but that didn't change anything.
  • Hi Amiutza, Yes I did make the changes that you instructed. I'm guessing that it's something beyond the graphics since I can get anywhere from 28 fps to over 300 fps. That's a large span but I've seen it with fraps telling me that I'm all of a sudden getting 28fps and then 2 seconds later I'm getting over 300 fps. This is…
  • Apparently it matters little that the card is recognized as I'm getting over 300 frames per second but the stutter remains when on anything other than paused. Normal speed or not it stutters. Just plain sad that I spent all the money that I spent on this franchise to find that I can't play it on newer hardware.
  • Okay, I've gotten the card to be recognized (now I've got to make it recognize that there is 2048MB of VRAM) *so sad that Maxis was still using an outdated way of detecting video cards and didn't future proof their games* : === Application info === Name: Sims3 Version: Build: Release === Rating info === GPU: 5 GPU Memory:…
  • Update: I found the simwiki that has instructions on how to add your card / get your card recognized but I'm not wholly convinced that I even did it right as it is not performing any better at all.
  • @phoebebebe13 Yes, I did add the TS3W.exe to the Nvidia control panel and set vsync to adaptive. If anything it's worse now, although I can't really attribute it to just turning on vsync so... Now the game is basically stuttering even when I'm not moving the camera and now it's doing a huge amount of HDD activity when ever…
  • Hi everybody, Thank you for the responses. Yes I have updated my graphics drivers when I installed Windows 10, they are at 355.60 and I know there is the 355.82 version out, I'm not willing to try them out just yet since it seems to only be TS3 that is giving me problems. Below you will find the DeviceCongig.log (the first…
  • I've stuck with TS3, I honestly have no desires to re-purchase the franchise all over again. I did it 3 times already and like they say... Once, shame on you. Twice, shame on me. Thrice, I must be a freaking idiot. So I'm not going to find out what number 4 is by re-purchasing the entire game all over again. I tried the…
  • I've got the same issue. I'd still be using the old Microsoft mouse that I had ages ago if it hadn't been for the bloody cord that would get caught on everything from the telephone, to the speakers, to any other junk between it and the PC as it was always the most ergonomic for my hands. I know that "professional"…
  • No, but because you've bought into their CoolAide that you think it's okay for them to sell a stripped down *base* game at a AAA title's price and that's okay does mean that they've taught you that it's okay. Unless of course you're just a youngster and can't remember (or weren't even a glint in your pappas eye) when…
  • Wow, so many brainwashed Max(i)sters running around. It's just sad to me that many of us have been brainwashed into thinking that it's okay in today's market to release a "base" game (at a AAA title price) and then sell us the rest of the game later in bits and pieces. It used to be that a "base" game meant it was still a…
  • I can tell you exactly what I get. When I had a traditional HDD and TS3 and all expansions installed it took exactly 2 minutes and 38 seconds to load up the game. Once I installed a SSD with TS3 and all expansions installed it is now down to roughly 1 min and 30 seconds to load up TS3. It rather depends if I'm doing a lot…
  • They say when you fall into the bottom of a well, the only way is up. So, will it get better? If you believe that TS4 is at the bottom of the well as some do, then it can only possibly get better.
  • Only if you don't consider the hundreds of dollars that people will spend on all the expansion packs, stuff packs and store items that they will inevitably purchase over the next couple years for TS4. I'm thankful that I no longer buy games site unseen, I wait for real fan / gamer reviews and or go to my neighbors house…
  • Unfortunately, you've totally lost me when you go into the APU and the AMD R series of graphics chips. Personally, the minimum I would look for in a laptop that I want to work on as well as play games on would be Intel i5 or i7 (dual core, but preferably a quad core) with a min of 2.2GHz (although to me a 3.4 GHz would be…
  • I'm not the laptop police. I prefer laptops even though I can't upgrade the GPU most of the time without going to a major expense, (more expensive sometimes than just buying a newer laptop) so I can dig where you're coming from with rather having a laptop than a desktop. I have a desktop that can run almost any game out…
  • According to the site listed above it requires: 2.0 GHz Dual Core required if using integrated graphics (And you're using Integrated graphics (GPU) with that Intel HD 4400.) You're saying your upcoming laptop is a dual core 1.7 GHz CPU. So it *might* bottleneck a tiny bit depending on various factors. Also you stated that…
