We're starting to see content from our first entries and it all looks promising. Still sad we don't have bands in TS4 (it's the one thing I want) so this all takes a bit more creativity...but it can be done! @citysimmer Looking forward to seeing rest of your material and where you go with your band. Like I said in…
I'm half asleep (4 hours sleep - I should really get something to eat and go back to bed) and frustrated with my game (can't get the new TS4 cheat to work) so bare with me here. Please don't overthink this. So many people overthink everything that has to do with SimsFilmFest. The only requirements for things are list of…
There is a blog post on the front page of the SimsFilmFest website all about Battle of the Bands with links to some of the magazines that we have put together in the past for the bands/artists that participated. People had a lot of fun with this competition and we hope to see a bunch of you participate!
This was always been a fun competition that the participants have always gotten behind in role playing their bands across social media accounts. We're hoping to bring it back between on a yearly basis. There is an article about Battle of the Bands on the front of the SimsFilmFest website that has links to previous…
I didn't so much "pick" anything as I did pull out everything that wasn't dubious teen drama. :D There are some things that I wish I could unsee. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yACJoEB-FO8
This is our new format for Machinima Magazine. It features a single machinima that has been entered in the festival. This time around it's Terah: The Crystal of Life. I honestly can't say enough about this machinima series. Anyone who thinks it's impossible to film machinima in TS4 should watch this series. It's a rather…
I just finished going through YouTube for the next Machinima Monday. I'm annoyed. So many let's plays and speed builds and sim creation videos under machinima. I am starting to think that some people don't know what machinima is. I already know that YouTube's search feature is not so good. So many things showed up not sims…
@hermitgirl I'll probably add to this later since I want to get a few things down quickly before doing errands before I forget. Having a machinima recommendation thread pinned might be a bad idea if anyone can come in and post to it. It will turn into a self promotion thread. Kind of defeats the purpose. I tried promoting…
@KellyWhovian That video is actually what started this discussion. There are many reasons that video makes me angry that I won't get into. We would be here all day. I have spent the last 7 or so years as part of SimsFilmFest fighting against the kinds of stories that spawned Luumia's video and trying to direct people to…
@KellyWhovian I have to agree with you that the juxtaposition of realistic cc in TS4 can be quite jarring. Personally, I quite like the cartoonish look of the game. Every time I see realistic/alpha CC I cringe. It's just not you.
Both My Home and Actor were submitted to the festival. A lot of what gets submitted gets lost, probably because it's not the stuff that is popular with younger simmers. I just found this one and it's amazing. https://youtube.com/watch?v=fNW5nxZVixY&list=PL8GChwceTFD2EaNMSzdGZEroYHSpI4BrQ&index=6 I obviously have no idea…
If anyone is interested, You can find the links to this seasons playlists both on the SimsFilmFest website and on our YouTube channel. https://simsfilmfest.com/explore/playlists/
@Kellogg_J_Kellogg There are a number of really good voice actors on that list that ZeeGee shared. Some of them are actually professional VAs that use machinima projects for practice. I am always willing to recommend people from that list.
@hermitgirl - I think we're going to put a spot on the website to showcase non-festival entries as well as set up some YT playlists. I'm all for helping people find machinima worth watching. There has been some pretty good stuff entered into the festival so far this season.
@thatsnotsweg Yea, I get that. It seems that there are two extremes, those that are really good storytellers and those that aren't. I've come to realize over the years that machinima and sims stories are how some people first start writing. I try really hard to remember that. There are some really good story tellers out…
I'm going to pop in here since I am the person in charge at Simsfilmfest now. We want to start doing more promotion of good machinima outside of the festival and we are trying to figure out how best to do that. An area on our website? A digital magazine that we can share across our socials? A playlist on out YouTube…
We're working on issue 2. This is going to be a monthly thing except during SimsFilmFest season when we are releasing Insider Magazine every week to promote the festival.
That is weird and it shouldn't do that. This is actually the first time I have ever heard of something like that happening. Let me check around and see if anyone else has had that happen.
What are you using to film with? The in game video recorder or something else? If you use the tab key it will take you to cameraman mode that will get rid of your action queue, thought bubbles, plumbobs, etc.
I have two questions. 1. What version of the Sims are you using? 2. Are you using the in game video recorder? I have had this problem with both TS3 and TS4, but it was more than just a small spot or two, it was the entire video. I had to go to using a video recording program other than the one in the game. I used FRAPS for…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQu9_Oh7LUk Episode 10 (Episodes 7, 8 and 9 are coming soon. I got sick and didn't get them done before SimsFilmFest, and Episode 10 was slated for the festival.)
