  • Can confirm that the Release Candidate build works as it should. The release date for El Capitan is Sept 30th for anyone wondering.
  • Without knowing the details of each computer, I would say this could be a memory issue. Is there any correlation in what you are doing when it occurs, size of household, etc? Also the amount of RAM and any other running applications (in the background) would be useful to know.
  • Do your Sims have access to both the fridge and cooking appliance itself (grill, stove, microwave)? If the task is cancelled (removed from queue), you will be refunded the simoleons (§) instantly. Mind posting a screenshot of your kitchen area?
  • Curious, are windows the only things doing this? I would be curious to see how mirrors and water reflections look as well (with Laptop Mode on).
  • Glad to hear things are *somewhat* improved for you. What settings are you currently using under OS X? As for the VMMap dialog, this is occurring due to the crash. VMMap is a developer tool that can analyze crash dump files, so when the crash occurs it is asking to analyze the crash.

If you are comfortable using the terminal you can use these commands: cd ~/Documents/Electronic\ Arts/The\ Sims\ 4/Mods/ cat Resource.cfg | sed 's.\\./.g' > Resource_fixed.cfg cp Resource.cfg Resource_old.cfg mv…

  • > @conday884 said: > Ok so there is no current fix? I have heard that disabling "Laptop Mode" in video settings can fix this issue. You may have to scroll down to see it in the settings.
  • I recommend that Mac users play it under OS X, if possible. After all, why should EA bother to make a Mac version and maintain it if "we're all going to use Windows (BootCamp) anyways?" We need to make our voices heard and represent our platform. If there are issues, let's bring them to EA's attention and get them resolved…
  • @BluebellFlora I just had an idea that might help those coming to Sims 4 on Mac. Do you think it would be useful to try and gather up the success stories of Mac gamers here and compile a list of "recommended video settings" for each Mac model? Namely this would be grouping them by model/GPU and displaying average FPS in…

Most of them are going to be USB-powered, but you could use a USB wall adapter to power them instead of your laptop. If you need a longer cable there are USB extenders as well, all of…

What a shame! The panning is just so slow and jumpy it's unbelievable. Looks like I shan't be getting rid of Bootcamp :( What…

  • Major OS X updates usually have new graphics drivers included, which is what likely fixes the HD 4000 issues.
  • With the iMac, you're going to need something better than a cooling pad. You could try a box fan on low or something similar. I have also seen some USB fans that can pivot/arch, maybe some of those pointed at the back could help? You'll have to find out where it gets hot and try to apply a quieter cooling method to it.
  • I've found it much easier to use with the keyboard commands: * WASD keys for moving the camera (similar to arrow keys) * , and . keys for rotating the camera (and household objects) * - and + keys to zoom the camera * Shift+[ and Shift+] to scale items (cannot be scaled smaller than original size) Also, you can use the…

  • It's just the nature of gaming on a laptop. My Retina iMac fan comes out full boar pretty quickly when playing but performance never suffers. Do you notice a decrease in performance or is it just the fan noise that bothers you? If you just want to reduce the fan noise, look into getting a cooling pad for your laptop (with…

  • That error message indicates that something in the Sims 4 game is utilizing a lot of CPU power for a longer-than-expected period of time. It's kind of funny in this context of discussing literally burning of CPUs, but this message is more of the figurative sense (burning CPU = using CPU cycles excessively). Assuming your…
