I've read NPCC can cause issues like save corruption, and the game does not like when it can't find a Sim for an essential role. Bienchen's mod cuts it down to the bare minimum while still letting the game do core functions without player input.

Roommates is actually the case where this can happen. One of the situations for DU roommates has them choose a sim to flirt with/serenade, and possibly ask to be their SO if successful.

MCCC has some issues with the "Move Single Sims" settings that causes pets and potentially children to be left on their own, so maybe that's what you were seeing @Kathykins . Regarding the thread, I've been trying to run tests to see how well MCCC populates things if I leave pre-mades to their own devices over generations…

I've been doing this as I build my base save as a way to limit how many random townies are generated. You can fill out a world as much as possible, but if there aren't enough pet owners then the game will generate them for you whenever you visit a pet friendly lot.

From what I've experienced, the game will not pick up existing sims as roommates, and will instead always generate them. You can use the "Choose Your Roommates" mod by LittleMsSam to set up and choose dorm roommates, though.

I'm not exactly a builder, but I often find myself wanting more lots for my sims to visit like restaurants and bowling alleys, or wanting more places for my families to move into.

Agreed as well; Sim life spans don't blend when you want a family or university. I play with MCCC and also often see sims get adopted out as kids or orphaned as teens because their parents died of old age. I also think that this is a good idea. When I host a dinner party I want Sims to eat what I leave out for them, not the leftovers in the fridge. It's not a communal fridge!

I'm fairly sure the ones talked about in this thread are the ones that aren't present. So the daughter of a cousin doesn't show as a cousin. Same with a sister's grandkid showing as unrelated. Those people are obviously still family, but the game doesn't recognize them as such.
