Thanks @luthienrising  There are regular reports at Answers HQ of some Mods not showing up in the game when newly added to the folder but I believe this is more to do with users who have iCloud Drive setup to store their Documents folder in the cloud and their storage is full, therefore not actually adding the…
@futurevet201 Yes and yes. You can change the game install location in Origin settings. For your user data that's a little more tricky and involves using Terminal to create a symlink. It would be better to take this discussion over to the Answers HQ Mac Tech. forum. If you start a new thread I can help you through the…
I don't think it's all just about tiny and multi-function stuff though, it looks like a build challenge to get a functioning house within a certain tile limit? Or am I watching the trailer wrong?
Catalina comes with updated security and permissions. The game is butting heads with these updates. Therefore the game needs updating. EA are aware of this and are working on it, as can be seen in this thread on the issues at Answers HQ -…
This is how misinformation gets perpetuated. 'metal ready in September'?? What you are saying, or trying to say, simply makes no sense. I asked you for a link because, honestly, I don't believe that you fully understand what Metal is so would like the exact source you are quoting from. Or are you reading about Apple using…
What are you talking about "got the metal ready early"? Metal was introduced in macOS in 2015 and all Mac models produced since 2012 support it. Those are 7 year old machines with ageing hardware, not exactly new. Technology moves forwards, not backwards. You state that 32-bit should have been dropped years ago and nothing…
The game has always been 64-bit for Mac. It was only one file that was 32-bit, or at least gave a false error message that it was 32-bit, and that file was not integral to running the actual game. Why do they have to buy a new Mac? Why can't they just update their OS? Machines that are not capable of upgrading past Lion…
@Simburian The announcement about Lion is only for Mac users. It's a heads up before a major update to the Mac version of the game. Moving out your Mods folder is common sense before applying any patch and something all CC/Mod users should be aware of.
Not true. The drop in 32-bit support for the game is only applicable to Windows users. In the same update Maxis are dropping support for non-Metal Macs. It is the upcoming version of macOS, 10.15 Catalina, that drops support for 32-bit apps. The game has always been 64-bit for Mac, ever since it was released in February…
To clarify for Mac users who are confused, there are two very different updates on the horizon: Update 1 - SIMS 4 UPDATE (dropping support for OpenGL and the update this thread is about) EA are updating Sims 4 to support Metal. Those with Macs that do not support Metal will need to install the legacy version of the game…
Seasons adds weather which affects every player and adds functionality which is pretty much forced on us all - builders, live mode players, Sim makers. No other pack does that, you can choose which aspects you want to incorporate into your builds/Sims/gameplay. I'm with you in that I look at objects too rather than…
I'm a builder too and don't care much for gameplay but it's a bit unfair to say they sacrificed items to add functionality to the game. People who actually play would say they sacrificed functionality to give us more items in some packs
It may not be applicable anymore. When the Boot Camp partition started installing, Windows would come up with an error saying it had to reformat the partition to NTFS so you always just went ahead and did it. It probably doesn't apply anymore. I don't really understand why you are formatting the disk in Disk Utility though…
