  • I agree whole-heartedly on the memories and scrapbook. I've had them turned off for so long I forgot they were even things the game has. Unfortunately these were more "sounds good in theory but not so much in the actual execution" features.
  • The bolded part says much about what your problem could be. The more that's not saved, the more your computer has to hold in RAM. If the RAM is nearly full the game doesn't have enough left to do the saving and it will hang. Remember, this game can use no more than roughly 3.8GB of RAM. I save at least twice per Sim day…
  • Nah, that's still too much money since I'd have to install spyware on my computer in order to play it. For that kind of thing they would need to pay me.
  • I don't play in Windowed mode, it's always full-screen. The only place I noticed increased performance after going to 3Booter was in CASt, which before was unusuable. It didn't really seem to do much for my game but I was/am more concerned about over-heating my GPU than anything else.
  • First off, go into your game and bring up the Cheat panel (ctrl-shift-c). Once there type in FPS and press the Enter key on your keyboard. This is the only way to see whether your VSync settings are working or not. If VSync is working you'll probably have a fairly even 60 FPS. If not the number will be much higher and…
  • Here is my computer: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor 8 GB RAM NVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti I've been using this same computer for well over five years and have upgraded the RAM (it came with 4 GB, I bought 8 GB of slightly faster and replaced that). I upgraded to this video card a little over a…
  • I have that same card and I didn't edit the the graphics sgr files. After I started playing with it my main problem was with CASt lagging like crazy, as it would become unusable after a couple of minutes. Once I limited the FPS that was fixed. As for lag during game-play what I see has to do with the world I'm playing in…
  • TS3 Sims are less needy, especially the pregnant Sims. Things are done a little differently between 2 and 3 in that TS3 was when moodlets were introduced. As far as I know day length in TS3 is the same as in TS2 but a lot of us use a mod originally made by Twallan called Relativity and set the length of day to however we…
  • Yes, that's very good advice. Around here we need to do that about every three months (we have a lot of dust) and never do it in the house. Sometimes they go out to the shop and the air compressor. We only use the canned air when they're mildly dusty. Either way it has to be done outside.
  • I think part of the problem with advice on GPU temps comes from what older cards could handle. As requirements have evolved so has the ability to handle the abuse said requirements causes to hardware, so a temperature that might have "melted" a card ten years ago can now be handled with ease.
  • Goodness, I have never read of that. I know if I use "insightful" it's because I either learned something from the post or the person doing the posting was being helpful. I often click "insightful" when I see igazor's posts. I really do wish we still had the LOL button because truly he cracks me up more times than not and…
  • Yeah, although the linear quests in WA have never been my favorite thing that pack did come with a lot of other useful content and I still enjoy taking my Sims on vacation. I remember as time went on people groused a little about things like how Generations didn't include a new world and of course plenty of us complained…
  • Thank you. I misunderstood because of the word "juice" so was thinking it came from the fridge. I wouldn't say it's impossible that it would cause the assignment of the Clumsy trait in the case of not being able to pick two traits because unfortunately complete randomness often repeats the same result and makes it appear…
  • No, it doesn't mimic real life at all. The juice in the fridge is for all Sims. Juice does not cause problems with pregnancy (unless a mother is prone to gestational diabetes in which case it could push her over the edge).
  • Maybe it was coincidence because a perfectly successful trait-choosing pregnancy requires keeping mom's mood bar high more than anything else. I had a Sim a while back that didn't have a library or bookstore so no baby books there. I got to choose both traits for her first baby but during her second pregnancy she was quite…
  • Most likely I started in early to mid 2002 since I remember it between not an awfully long time before Unleashed was released. I bought a used OEM version off eBay not realizing I really didn't have the license to use it since it didn't actually reach me with any OEM hardware. Later on I bought the Deluxe version so I…
  • I didn't spend a lot of time on the official forum but was on MTS and other forums. Sure there were complaints. We didn't like the rabbit holes, mostly because if we had played TS2 we were used to taking Sims to stores and restaurants where we could see what was going on. TS2's genetic system is superior to TS3's. In TS2…
  • I also love MC and use it frequently. If you're looking for something similar for TS2 I can suggest a few things--provided they are still out there. One is InSimenator and another I used a lot was a "hacked" painting Inge Jones made. I'm not sure if that is still available but if it is you'll find it here and if InSim is…
  • I got one of my big real-life missions finished today and still have to work on another but I am itching to get back to my TS3 game. I wish I was better at finding balances in life but I'm not and the project we just finished was one that took all my time and then some and the next one requires moving my desk and computer…
  • To the part I bolded: yes! People have said TS3 base was as bare as TS4 but it wasn't. Yes indeed, much was taken away but from the start it had content that had formerly only ever been in expansion packs (gardening for TS and TS2, cars for TS2) plus a whole bunch of features we had never seen before. If we put bugs and…
  • That looks cool. I think I'll bookmark it for later. That's one of the things I am loving about NIF because since Sims have to earn lots mainly based on skills I end up doing a lot of things I never did before, like having a Sim top out photography skill or learning the ins and outs of making potions with alchemy and what…
  • @Minx I know how you mean about trying to keep up with threads like that. I just can't do it. And I am really missing both my NIF Challenge AND the coinciding thread. I had to get side-tracked by some other stuff and now I've got side-tracked by that other stuff by some more important stuff. Even as old as I am, I…
  • Part of the copyright troll problem has to do with content owners' bots doing all the work. These bots scour YouTube and automatically send a take-down notice on anything deemed problematic, despite the possibility of it being completely uninfringing content. Then there are the filters that scan everything being uploaded.…
  • I'm back now, at least for a moment. I've downloaded quite a bit from MTS and I've never run into anything unsafe but there are a lot of really old, unsupported CC files there that need run through TSR's Rig Fix tool because it was never updated when the rigs were changed with Pets. Most of those files will show up as…

  • I missed Colton's post before I hit the Save Comment button. Ransomware isn't attached to Sims files. It can be picked up via ads on various websites and by downloading attachments from e-mails and the like. It really helps to spend a few minutes from time to time learning about this stuff.

  • Hi there and welcome! If you use a site like TSR for downloading you aren't going to get any viruses. It's possible when downloading CC from anywhere to get corrupt or out of date files but you should never run into a virus. There are tools that can help find corrupt files and conflicting mods, though. I prefer all of my…

  • I feel the same way. What should have been fixed or tweaked often wasn't and that's one of the big reasons I have no intentions of ever supporting another product made by EA or any of its subsidiaries. We have all paid good money for these games and expansions and should have them work and not have to resort to mods to fix…
  • I think this is the problem in a nutshell. Are we allowed to mention names of EA execs here? Well, just in case we're not because I wouldn't want to get in trouble, the one whose initials are F.G. (he was at EA for ages and ages) and who has recently become CEO at a mobile game company that starts with the letter Z that EA…
  • We're totally off topic but it's only jalapenos that do bad things to my intestines and ONLY the ones in fast food places. I can eat the ones I grow and put up with no problems at all. I make them into pepper relishes and sauces and all kinds of stuff, and pop them whole into the freezer and later use for cooking. Further…
  • I think a lot of spending on video games is relative. I always try to get bargains and usually do because I'm not an endless fount of wealth but at the same time I don't subscribe to cable TV, don't buy alcohol or soda, and only rarely go to someplace like a coffee shop. So if I think about it like that I get a whole lot…
