  • At first I was all Max because I love spellcasters, but if you've never played mermaids before, now is a good time to start!
  • Cutaway/half up. I like to see my pretty walls, behind the Sims. I only put them up if I'm looking for someone/something. Sims like to set things on random shelves...
  • I put it in the refrigerator, but recently learned you can keep it in storage boxes, too. I have a storage box with random produce that I've found. At some point I'll add a greenhouse and have a lot to start with.
  • I built a castle for my daughter to play on her non-gaming laptop, and decorated sparingly. For the massive lawn, some of the plants were made larger using brackets, with creative use of ground paints to make them look fuller. Inside, things are spaced carefully so that they look like more. The top floor is empty, but…
  • My pc runs fine. My new-ish laptop, however, is at its limit. I don't think the auto-thermostat mod is to blame, and that's all I have. I sit at my pc all day to work, so I don't want to sit on it all night to play. I generally don't play during the week anymore, I just don't have the patience. When I started up Sims 3,…
  • I've had this problem as well. I finally had the perfect butler, and three times now he's just been replaced without warning. So. I go into manage worlds, add him to the new butler's household, then delete the new butler. When I go back to my save, my preferred butler is back in place. Oh, and my butler now has like…
  • For a game, I'd rather skip straight to the cooing, giggling, wiggly stage. I'm a good parent. I am! *clutches juice box and teddy bear*
  • Oh my plumbob, yes. I finally played them, and with two infants and three adults, only one adult at a time ever had high needs. It was a miserable experience for all of us. I started having flashbacks to when my daughter was a newborn, and life was catching naps any time she fell asleep, and giving her a bath while still…
  • I keep urns/tombstones in my inventory because of this. If one is on the lot, all living sims do is mourn, and the ghosts act entirely on their moodlets instead of having any remainder of personality. They possess objects, which is funny a couple times, but not as often as it happens. I worked hard to build up a…
  • Have clicked "Me Too." There's nothing about normal gameplay which should require internet, unless you're on the Gallery. :'(
  • I used to open Sims when I was connected, then go to places that didn't have internet for the day and play there. As long as I was connected at startup, I could play all day. When did it change?
  • I have a lot of Sims who are artists, and for a while I tried to do other things, but if I enjoy watching them paint and play the guitar, there's no reason not to let it happen. As for giving them happy, stable lives, plumbob yes I do. I've seen plenty of divorce and unemployment in Real Life™ so my Sims are going to do…
  • I have never chosen the "Give Now" option. I always ask for the conditions. If I want to rush-marry some Sims, I'll do it in head-canon. : P I think you should go for it. Marry for the money, then maybe get a quick divorce later. Then maybe get married again next Love Day?
  • I've played offline for hours. Sometimes I'll get the popup saying I'm offline, I'll save and close the popup, then the EA app closes. It doesn't close my game, though. My daughter has had her game closed, so not sure what we're doing differently.
  • I dropped Sims 2 immediately to play Sims 3 because COLOR WHEEL, but Sims 4 took a loooong time to be playable for me. My daughter had to drag me kicking and screaming away from my potato-faced Sims with multi-color hair and coordinated furniture. Sims 3 had a decent amount of content right away, even as a base game, but 4…
  • So many years of playing original sims and not winning the pretend-lottery. I recently put my sim-self and my daughter's sim-self into the game, played them, then won! I immediately purchased Hogsmeade, because I do what I want. o.o
  • I've done this so many times that I finally made a single save to put all those characters in together. I originally made a new household every time I bought new expansions, and placed some of my older households as background characters. My simself and my daughter's simself would pop up sometimes as well.
  • If I have mods on in my save, the entire save, then anything I build there will come up as modded, even though there is no custom content in it. To fix this, I save the build to my library, disable mods/cc in the game, then place the build in a fresh save. I can upload to the gallery from there, and it shows up correctly.
  • I am also a serial restarter, and terrible about challenges. Anything that requires tracking points is too many rules, but I'll do things like make a sim earn enough money playing guitar to start a cult. I mean, ah, a gardening commune.
  • I never played newborns, but skipped straight to toddler. None of my Sims have had a baby since the update, but when they do, I'll try out infants.
  • I have a couple retirement homes, one is on the gallery, made back before I had any expansion packs. It's reasonably nice, with room for a nurse and plenty of activities. I was thinking of making something updated, but not sure what to put in it! I have a lot of builds, so I'll include quick links in a spoilers section:
  • When I build large bathrooms, it's just to look luxurious. Down at game-level or looking around at sim-height, it feels like a big, fancy room. Maybe there's a bathtub under a large window with sheer curtains, a separate shower, a toilet in its own little room with a tiny trash can and a shelf, but it's definitely for the…
  • I'm fairly certain that you can use a space as a last name. As @mightysprite said, that might make it difficult to use cheats, but if you want to cheat, you can always use cas to give them a temporary surname, use your cheat, then change it back to a space.
  • I played more than one save in order to have different households. Maybe I want Phoenix Valentine to make as many Sim-babies as possible. That doesn't mean I want everyone in town to be related to him. Maybe I want to turn everyone to vampires, or have everyone eventually marry into my legacy. Every now and then I delete…
  • Yes, same here. I was super-sad seeing no relationship with my sister where our dad should have been. :( You can click "Me Too" on the help topic here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Family-Tree-Connections-missing-Patch-1-96/td-p/12383189
  • I think my problem is that when I reach my goal, I want things to stay perfect, but get bored at the lack of change. >.< There may finally be enough chaos in Sims 4 to keep me going for a while. Lately I've been taking all my previous saves' Sims and putting them in the same save to test this theory. Almost everyone needs…
  • So this one time, my Sims had more babies than expected and one of the cribs stayed on the porch. o.o Not for long, but there just was. not. enough. room. Another time, I had just made a lovely little nursery and gone to play a different household when my Sim got pregnant again through some kind of story progression…
  • Just give me a chance at some real plant sims. MUAHAHAHA.
  • newborn: 0 infant: 1-2 child: 10-12 teen: 17-18 young adult: 20-30 adult: 40-50 elder: 62+ They seem to have boosted every life stage to the end of that stage, which is kind of sad. It seems like chunks of time are just missing. Toddlers age straight up to pre-teens, and teens are nearly indistinguishable from adults,…
  • Yessss. In fact, this weekend I re-vamped Matthew Hamming and his brother Michael Sleep because I've gotten better at making Sims over the years and my first attempts are now... underwhelming.
