Hello Friends! As some of you know I am a member of the BuildSims Request Team and this tutorial is part of a request I did recently. My client wanted to know how it was done so I decided to post it for everyone. Enjoy!

28.jpg"width=600"

- The first step is deciding what size lot you want. For this tutorial I have chosen to use a 40x40 lot.

- Next decide how big you want your tent to be. Basically all I did is make a hexagon and each wall is equal to six squares. Please note that for this to work, you must use even numbers (so your walls could be 8 squares, 10 squares, etc.)

- Place your walls on the ground floor, and then make a second floor (walls only) exactly the same as the ground floor.

- Now create your roof (on top of the second floor). To do this you will use the plain white carpet floor tile and a short fence to outline your design. Recolor the the floor tile to whatever color you want. You can change the color later but the pattern cannot be changed so make sure the pattern is how you want it. Now is also the best time to paint the ceiling on the inside of the tent.

This is what my tent looks like so far.

1.jpg"width=600"

- After you are satisfied with the pattern remove the fencing.

2.jpg"width=600"

- Next, off to the side maybe 10 squares away from your tent, place your levels as in the picture below. This may not be how everyone would do it, but for me it is best as you can see exactly how your roof will be sloped.

3-1.jpg"width=600"

- Each level is equal to 2 clicks of your mouse with the softest setting. If you prefer a taller roof try 3 or 4 clicks.

- When you are done, make sure all of your angles match.

- Now to begin the fun part :mrgreen: I added more fencing so it will be easier for you to see what I am doing. Each fenced in square will correspond with a different level.

4.jpg"width=600"

- We will start with level #1, which is the tallest level. Place a column, then a floor tile, then another column just as I have in the picture above.

- Type in the CFE cheat. Ctrl+Shift+C and then type constrainfloorelevation false into the box in the top left corner of your screen, then hit the Enter key.

- Now select the ground leveling tool from Build Mode. Place the leveling tool over the column on top of level #1 and drag it over the roof as shown in the picture below.

5.jpg"width=600"

- It will look a little odd so don't worry :D

6.jpg"width=600"

- Now we will level it out all around just to the outside of the first square.

8.jpg"width=600"

- This will give us the point at the peak of the roof.

10.jpg"width=600"

12.jpg"width=600"

- Now move your columns to level #2, and use the leveling tool the same way as before, bringing it to the base of the first square as before. Now you will start to see the slope of the roof taking shape.

14.jpg"width=600"

- Drag the level around the square until your tent looks like mine in the picture below.

15.jpg"width=600"

- Now just keep repeating the steps as I have in the pictures below, until you get to level #6.

16.jpg"width=600"

17.jpg"width=600"

18.jpg"width=600"

19.jpg"width=600"

20.jpg"width=600"

- This step is just to level the remaining parts to the height of a normal 2 story building. I recommend you place columns on each side of the tent so as not to destroy all the work you just did.

21.jpg"width=600"

- When you are finished it should look like this.

22.jpg"width=600"

- Type in the CFE cheat again, this time to turn it off. Ctrl+Shift+C and then type constrainfloorelevation true into the box in the top left corner of your screen, then hit the Enter key.

- Now just use the sledgehammer tool (carefully) to remove all the fencing.

23.jpg"width=600"

- Next level out your, um, level hill lol

24.jpg"width=600"

- Add your doors or archways, and then wallpaper. I used flat wallpaper on the bottom floor with a striped geometric pattern, and then a border wallpaper with the same striped geometric pattern and a circular geometric pattern for the border on the top floor.

Congratulations! You have built a beautiful Circus Tent!

Here is the link to download my Circus Tent. It is just a shell, but I have plans to do something with it soon. Maybe when Seasons comes out.......... :mrgreen:

If I missed anything on this tutorial please let me know. Also if you have any questions I will be more than happy to help :D
