Lucky Palms Building Project - Complete! (Updated, Available)

«1
I wanted to share this with everyone if anyone is interested. I intended for LP to be the easiest of the worlds to update with LN/ST/Ambitions lots which it was. But then I got a vision of a downtown city area to go with the feel of the town. It actually fits in beautifully, more so than I first imagined. I'm IN LOVE with this world now. I have two more lots to do, the 40x40's that are in the green grass area in the "exclusive home" area downwind from the bistro (cactus). I want to make them like fake golf course lots with park things to do, and maybe even a showtime stage for performances, not 100%.

The LN buildings I chose look GORGEOUS in LP. I took alot of time making sure each lot blended into another to give it a real feel. Like a city. I did manage to forget to add more traffic signals from buydebug so that will be my last minute fix later on today but I allready took the pictures and uploaded them.

I hope you all salvate like I did :)

Good Morning Time :)

** couple notes ** - I call this city area "Palm Springs" in my game. The big prosper room LN building now features a first floor casino lounge featuring Viva Las Vegas decor, gambling (of course) a fountain, bar, eating area, piano stage & showtime stage (works as a venue). The two matching "towers" on each side are residentical condo's simply titled "Palm Springs Tower North (South)". I also built a new lot for the business center (because the one that came with LP was giving me agida (making me sick, to look at haha). I built a live venue with a showtime arena on the first floor and on the 4th is an arcade. The 5th floor has a little floating glass encased dance floor. Two more apartment buildings in the back, Aqauris from LN, and a custom built 5 story apartment building that works properly thanks to a trick I discovered. (Trick is you take the brownstone apartment building from LN move it on a bigger lot, remove all the objects with the sledgehammer except the trash can and mail box and then build what you want there. I haven't play tested but the fact that the apartment is listed as 20,000 says it's working properly to me :)

I hope you all like it. I also added more stuff in the town. It's completely EP up to date :)

All in all there's 7 ST venues, 1 Bar, 2 Clubs, 2 Lounges (they double) and the regency arcade too but that's on the other side of town. The other side features the apartment building from LN (floodgate) The ST theater Big Show Venue, the Ultimate venue, Brightmore and another small apartment building.

I can't wait to play. Last night with one eye open desperately trying to finish I built a nectary so my sims can go get wine :)

Gotta do the Salon which I plan to wait on doing untill I install SLT when Seasons comes out. I can do without a salon for a bit. LOL

Very, VERY well done!! I would love to have that version of LP in my game, but I just don't have the kind of patience it takes to do massive make over like that!

It is too bad there isn't a way to upload made over worlds to the exchange. It wouldn't really be any different than a recolored store item or a build containing items from the store or an EP. You would still have to have that content already installed in your game in order for it to transfer in the download. It wouldn't be like you could get LP for free by downloading your remake. You would have to already have it.

Well, you actually would though. The only thing different is that the items will be replaced if you don't own any of the Lucky Palms objects.

Anyways, good work on what you did with the downtown *thumbs up*

Really?? Hmmmm...I am assuming it is because worlds are a different type of file?? Too bad. You have to admit, it would be a cool option to have. Well, at least for people like me that are too lazy and impatient to take on a massive project like this! LOL

There is a way to do that, but one would have to adjust the file codes, etc. in order for it to work. It's one of those processes when converting pre-made Worlds into CAW Worlds.

Thanks! I'm glad you guys like it, especially two regulars on the forums ;)

I've had to do so much building this past year in my game getting all these EP's in the last year it's crazy. I still have to update AP and RV. Riverview is almost done, but it's annoyingly difficult to find spots to put these items. RV is *NOT* getting ST stuff. It just doesn't fit. Theres plenty of worlds to play those careers in. I may just put one of my custom theaters from BP into RV just so theres a place for Simfest to spawn so my sims can go see some really whack performers :)

AP just needs some LN themed lots. That town should be easy to update. I saw it in snow today and now I can't wait to play that world.

The store worlds have a tendancy of grabbing my attention over the EP worlds. I'm still on the "Sim City Feel" in the Sims game from LN. I just got it a year ago, so I'm loving the city feel to my worlds, those that can support it. This is the perfect world for that.

Maybe at some point I will upload the "Palm Springs Center" lots that I created and then people could just easily plop and drop. I only added one lot from world editor for the business center. The rest were the ones there. The only thing people would have to do is add the rocks and palms from the world editor to fill in the gaps around the buildings that were unroutable terrain. i was so annoyed by it because there was one spot between the glass pillar shell and the balcony skyscrapper that could hold a 40x40 but it was unroutable. So I put the big LP Rock pile and some plams and picnic tables to fill it in.

    I really love it.

I should show off SS. That came out gorgeous too.

This is amazing. I wish I had the skill/patience to do something like this. My worlds end up looking really cobbled together and are missing a lot of venues because I don't have your skillz. Beautiful work!

You did a great job with this project. I took the lazy way out and added several LN and ST venues around town in whatever empty lots were available, and all the LN venues are near the graveyard.

SS is Starlight Shores, right? I hate Starlight Shores because it feels too 'small town' for me, when I think it should feel more like Bridgeport. If you've managed to incorporate a more densely populated city vibe, I would LOVE to see it!

Your edit of Lucky Palms is totes amaze! >.<

I would love this in my Game and you can just upload your Save File if you did all the changes in Edit Town mode, that would make everything you did to the World avaliable for people to use.

Also if you modified this World in CAW all you need to do is save it under a new name like LP Revitilization, then open that in CAW, Export it and Upload it to say Medifire and people could Download and use it, honestly it's pretty easy to do.

It looks lovely, I'd never have thought to put tall buildings into it giving it a slight city feel but it came together well and looks amazing, great work.

I just finished doing HS REvitilization, like you I was very picky on the Lot's I placed and it took me several weeks to find the right Lot's. Now that I'm done the World looks amazing, I'm loving it and playing it often. I also did some work to Bridgeport so it's perfect and I updated ST. Next I plan to Revitilize Moonlight Falls with new Lot's, Sims and Houses like I did HS.

    Looks great!

Are you able to make me a version of Lucky Palms, but instead of the 'sandy' look could you give it a more 'sunset valley' or 'appaloosa plains' look/color?

I love everything about Lucky Palms except for the desert look that it portrays. If you could change it's color and style to either worlds mentioned above, that would be FANTASTIC! :)

This looks great, you did a good job. The buildings don't over power the landscape and actually look like they belong there. It reminds me of Las Vegas.

I'm so glad I typed up a long response for the website to glitch out and not post it and give me Liam.

Gotta love the Sims... even the website is glitchy.

Short story: Thanks everyone I'm very glad to see everyone's reactions. I've never shared my work since simming started in 2000 but I think I may start. I've done alot of stuff to all of my worlds and I'm close to the finish line.

I'm going to think about sharing my lots on the exchange.... to those who want this in their LP I think uploading the lots and a "map" of instructions of where each lot goes will be easier than the save file... simply because then if you need to restart it ever you could have the lots in your bins to place down. It would take the average simmer 20 minutes to put the lots down.

I'm going to make a thread showing off my SS right now.

Just found this - its awesome!
Pity you can't upload this because I tried adding a city to this but it was a complete fail  Yours fits perfectly.

I would also like to try adding the city into the big unroutable area where the wind turbines are.

If you did this in Edit world you can share the save - but if you did this in CAW - sharing the world can get you banned as doing it in CAW removes the protective store tags and anyone can download it and get a pay for map for free and EA does not like that. Sure the rest of the worlds content would not transfer, but the map would and EA found out when people tried this with their other worlds you did not need to own it to have the map - so when they catch up there is no warning - you can get perma-banned and lose all excess to your account, store content and any more sims or any EA stuff period. They also will not listen to an "I didn't know" either. So I am warning you, as I was not sure how you did it.

To the simmer who thinks you just rename it and can upload it - number one CAW worlds do not work like that - you have to use mods to change the unique ID every world gets - you can change everything about it and it will not re - upload if it had been loaded before until you give it a new ID number. This is not sims 2 -

Believe me though being an EA world that is not Sunset Valley or Riverview - as those are the only 2 EA allows us to share as you have to have paid for SSV it comes with the base game and Riverview is a free world - so those are safe - any other ep world or any store world putting them in caw to share will get you the perma ban. You can do it for yourself as long as you don't share.

But you can share a save file legally because a save file will only work in worlds owned by the user. And EA has no objections to sharing saves - they just don't give us a place to share them - but you can do so for free at file sharing sites like media fire. Then post a link to that file and others who own this world can download and enjoy the file too.

And yes just like store clothing can be recolored and shared only with other store clothing owners - the same goes for the world as long as it is a save file.

I haven't played this world much since I set it up to play. kinda got them situated and that was it.

I did this all in edit town... it took alot of fine tuning myself to make it look good. Give me a week or two and I will learn about uploading lots to the exchange and stuff and take a screenshot and use photoshop to post circles and instructions on how and where and what to add.

It shouldn't take folks to long to replicate this because if you just put down the lots I allready edited you'll just have to do some work with world editor and that should be it.

I never got into the actual apartment buildings yet to rebuild them, to make them look different than how they looked in BP so that will be on everyone else. Obviously the community lots are fresh, like the main sky scrapper I call the Palm Springs Casino. It's a first floor casino with a ST stage. It also has an exclusive celebrity lounge upstairs but it's VERY BLAND because I'm not using it that much.

My goal before Seasons was to get all my worlds that I aqquried up to date EP wise. Mind you all I started Sims 3 in May 2011 and since then I've added all EP's except SN and all SP's except FLS and have gotten all the worlds as they have come out, so thats why it looks "finished" out the outside. The little things can be done as I play through the world.

For example, yesterday I spent a couple hours adding in PC content into my BP save file. Decided to move the school and rebuild it and add the sports stuff we now have and other items from Generations etc.

I wont upload my save file but I will upload all the lots I used to make the "city" area.

The most you'll have to do is move houses to your bin, maybe change a few lots using world editor for size purposes and then plop down the LN lots that I edited to fit LP and add some rocks and palms in the empty spaces around the buildings to give it that full complete look like mine has. That's all I really did, however editing the outside of the lots did take alot of time, plus the custom ST venues I built either in them or in their own lot.

I'll post soon, promise! I never shared my builds through Sims 1 or 2 so this is all new to me :)

It'll take some work too because I'll have to load up a new LP save just to see how it looked before I started. I literally loaded up the Dreamers upon getting the world, and went right into edit town, so I'll have to look and compare and organize it all so I know what to tell everyone to do. I did this back in August I think, so I don't quite remember the specifics I just realized.

I'll try to do this before AS comes out because I'm definitly getting that world on the 21st. At first I didn't like it but then I realized what the world was supposed to be about and I'm estatic for it.

They really do look great in LP, especially the ones I chose. I wanted them because they all matched. I didnt realize that when the sunlight hits them in that world they look even better. They almost look like they're made for LP, especially at dawn and dusk... absolutely gorgeous.

I like how you've given it a more built-up look. The world does remind me of Vegas and it suits being a bit fuller.
