  - Opportunity to have a social class system (with option to turn off).
  
  - Sims should be aware of how much money they have. (They should worry if they have a bill and low funds).

  - Sims could have the chance of promoting, demoting and firing people. Control the employees’ salaries and how long there work day is. I would love to control how much they get and how long there work days is.

  - Possibility to create a family legacy in the store market.
  
  - Have a rank or class system, so sims have a social hierarchy. Then I want working class sims to have the option to improve themselves by going to university with a scholarship, or by becoming an entrepreneur with OFB. And high born sims could be philanthropists or live a life of excess and gamble their families money away!
  
  - A pop-up market stall. It would work like the baker's dozen stand in that you can carry it in your inventory and set it up anywhere. Obviously, it needs to be for grown ups, not kids. You could sell anything from your inventory. You could also set up a load of them on a community lot and sims would attend them automatically (like the kissing booth), then you would have a market. You could sell fruit, fish, books, paintings... anything!
  
  - Hire a space! So you could rent a space on a community lot to sell your goods, a step up from the market stall. So if your sims are artists, you could sell your paintings in a gallery at the art museum. Throw a party as well to get sims interested in the event!
  
  - Have a garden sale
  
  - Run a home business.
  
  - Have an entrance or membership fee in some of the business like gyms.
  
  - The neighborhood functions with the sims money which improves the actual status of the neighborhood. You as a player have to pay into taxes especially on your businesses. You already contribute because you gave a few simmers a job. The taxes you pay go to city hall, which then you as the player can work with the mayor or become the mayor to improve housing in the neighborhood. Introduce new business venues that we never had before in sims games as special bonuses that are unlocked as you neighborhood improves. You can improve education, fire fighters, and police training. The better the more the neighborhood changes. Less crime like thieves breaking into the houses. The houses can improve to looking bigger and better instead of trailer parks or shacks. The reward may be the town erects a statue in your name, improved neighborhoods, and also better business. The better your hood the better your business as more customers come. Or do the opposite players can let the neighborhood totally fall apart with high crime, homeless sims, etc and take on a challenge.
  
  - The neighborhood can have an overall budget. A high budget makes the whole neighborhood more affluent: clean, low crime, good amenities etc. n the other side, a low budget means the whole neighbourhood degenerates: falls into disrepair litter in the streets, higher crime etc.
  
  - The budget is determined by the individual sims. The Sims pay tax of their businesses and the bills get contributed as well.
  
  - If the sims in your neighborhood have high paid careers and big houses, they pay more tax and the neighborhood status increases. In the other hand, if the sims in your world are in low level, low pay jobs, with small houses, there is less tax comming in and the neighborhood status decreases. Finally, to improve a neighbourhood status, you have to improve your sims income by furthering their careers.
  
  - The local school runs school fundraisers Child - Teen Sims can do selling. Maybe gaining some Selling skill that will help them in their future stores/careers.
  
  - Have a little market with loads of stalls in the country neighbourhoods.
  
  - Have stores where the sims could be able to sell ANYTHING. Giving the Simmers so much creative freedom and open gameplay.
  
  - It would be great if we could choose to live above our shops too.
  
  - Your bills are higher when you have ownership of businesses, depending on location of your business.
  
  - If your sim goes to college for business they should have some type of perk if they open their own business.
  
  - Instead of having a book register, a consignment register, a food register, etc, we should have a resister that sells whatever we put on the shelves and mark for sale.
  
  - Offer services through an agency.
  
  - Be able to build the store or business in the BUIL MODE from cero.
  
  - Allow the players to have family businesses again where we could have a business on our own home lot, or to buy real estate, or buy a lot to build on for our businesses, and be able to hire/fire employees, and stock items like in The Sims 2, and be able to have your own family business where your Sims in a family can run it, and even take over the business.
  
  - Strikes: Let’s say the Sim thinks that in the business career he is not getting paid enough or he is not getting enough vacation days he could organize a strike with his coworkers if they agree with him (if they don't at first you could try to convince them with the convince interaction which could convince them and give them a positive mood boost or if it fails a negative relationship boost. While on strike sims get the fight the power moodlet. If the strike is successful there is a positive moodlet and a relationship boost with all coworkers. If it fails every sim that participated in the strike loses job performance and the organizer gets a negative relationship with all his/ her coworkers.) Another good example is let's say the sims you hired in your business thinks you pay him to little or give him to little days off he could go on strike. No matter what if you go on strike you get a negative relationship boost with your boss.
  
  - Not only sims in your household could start a business and hire other sims but also sims from other households could start businesses and hire people from your household.
  
  - Another feature that should be added is that if a sim meets another sim that owns a business they could try buy each other businesses like the other sim may try autonomously to buy our business or sell his but we have a pop to either reject it or name a price if it is to high he may say no. And our sim may autonomously try to or we may have to tell them to buy their business or sell it but any buying or selling of property must be approved by the player and like another person this forum said we may attend to auctions of different things including businesses and auction off our own things including our own businesses.
  
  - Be able to make and design custom logos for the business.
  
  - Be able to put advertisement outside the stores.
  
  
  LIFETIME REWARDS
  
  - The 'look at that' cash register (object):lurk customers to your shop with this hypnotic register. Let your customers think they need to give that cute register their cash.
  
  - Energetic employee (object):this top notch employer doesn't ask for a raise or even payment. It doesn't complain about it's schedule and is never late. That’s right we said IT. This servo will do everything you want for free.
  
  - Flee market blanket (object):this mobile shop will come in handy when your shop is clossed and you want to sell thing and remember EVERYONE loves a fleemarket, because it's cheap. (That’s the downside of this reward you have to lower the prices).
  
  - Consumer Associations number one (object):put this plaque in front of your store so every sim knows you have the best quality stuff. See how people will acknowledge for your quality. Now you can sell bad stuff for the normal good stuff price. Hey what other sims don't know, doesn't matter.
  
  
  TRAITS
  
  Auctioneer voice
  - Your sim will talk faster than a llama can run. Your customers bought a TV, bear rug and a golden toilet seat, before they know. Too bad they came for bubble gum.
  
  Feared boss
  - All employees will fear you when you walk into your shop. None of them will ask for a raise when you look them in the eyes and none of them will ever be late after you had your little talk with them.
  
  Economic predictor
  - Your sim don't need the news anymore to check the inflation rate, your sim just feels what customers want to pay for something. Use it to adjust the prices in your store so your prices are never too high or too low.
  
  Underestimated
  - Your sim gets less oppertunities, but the reward for completing them is higher. Like 15%. also they have a special social interaction 'I can do it'. They also get a special moodlet 'I knew I could do this' when they succeed in something with a high fail chance.
  
  Bossy
  - Your sim will autonomously yell at other sims and convincing other sims to do something has a higher succes chance. These sims also get a advance in handeling employees.
  
  Sleazeball
  - It’s easier for your sim to build up a friend relationship with other sims. The convince to do... interaction will be replaced by can you do....for me. When failed the other sim will get an annoyed moodlet.
  
  Control freak
  - These sims don't like unexpected things to happen. They also autonomously order the bookcase by first letter (alphabetical), type or skill level. They like clean spaces and can't handle other sims being in charge of things.
  
  Sharper
  - These sims can ask more for the same product, like cakes, food, juwels or anything else. Other sims won't mind this and don't get the ripped off moodlet when they buy something from this sim. These sims will get the ripped off moodlet much quicker and get a special moodlet 'you idiot' when they sell something overpriced. These sims also improve their charismatic much quicker.
  
  
  
  SUPERNATURAL/OCCULT
  
  House Elfs
  - They will work to keep our business in tip top shape maintenance shape while we work away!
  - Little helpful creatures that help your business in the middle of the night.
  
  Bigfoot
  - Could be an on-lot security guard. That way while our businesses don't get burglarized while we're at home. He can scare and chase away the burglars.
  
  
  SHOPS - STORES
  
  Art Shop
  - Sculptors, Painters and Photographers can even sell merchandise online apart from having their own store and attending by theirselfs selling all the stuff.
  
  Museum
  - In order to keep museum goers happy, your sim must have at least one new collection each sim week. And they can search online or artsy types can come to your sim to ask to have their work displayed. Or your sim could find an artist or artists to work for them.
  - Rent the gallery to show all the crafts, paintings, photography and sculptures. Have a party while the show is running.
  
  Book Shop
  - Where your writer sim(s) can sell their own books plus other books too and can do book signings or have other writers do that as well.
  
  Farmers Market
  - All produce your sim harvests from their garden can be sold for profit in an open community lot type.
  
  Farms
  
  Bakery
  
  Candy Shop
  
  Toy Store
  
  Candle maker/shop
  
  Ice cream shop
  
  Coffee Shops (as Starbucks) – Tea rooms with cakes/cupcakes.
  
  Restaurant
  
  - Be able to open a restaurant in the active household lot or to purchase one.
  - The sim could have the option to ‘experiment’ to come up with a new and exciting twist on dishes. With this option, there would be about 10 dishes that are considered ‘secret’ that after many attempts or fails the sim would come up with. This, could have some sort of impact in the restaurant reputation.
  - Decorate the restaurant as you see fit; Asian, Italian, Chinese, Cafe, etc.
  - Choose your own menu options; prices, dessert options, and main courses
  - The order would come in and they would then be able to cook the meal and have the waitress or waiter serve the meal to the customer. There are issues that can arise as well, such as the customer being unhappy with the dish, the waitress or waiter not doing their job properly so it would be the job of the controlled sim to take care of these issues. There may be a box that pops up and says that the waitress has been talking on her cell for in the corner and how would you like to handle this situation.
  - We could own a fast-food restaurant. It would have sims cooking food, register, and an intercom, pay window, receiving window, and of course a drive-thru. Every once in a while, this goes for traditional restaurants too, a health inspector comes in and if the food tastes rotten or raw (poor cooking skill) or the restaurant is filthy, you must bribe the health inspector a sufficient amount of money to go away. If you fail to meet an agreement with the health inspector, you will not collect $200 and will go to jail temporarily. Not only that, the reputation of the business is tarnished and will take while to restore, however another visit from a health inspector could restore the reputation.
  - Watch out for slacking employees! With the reputation system, customers and health inspectors (exclusive to restaurants) could negatively affect your business reputation. Also, don't pay your employees too little or they could quit and write negative reviews.
  Customers, health inspectors, and employees can voice their opinions about any business on the computer with "Sul Sul"(the Sim version of Yelp) . You the proprietor of the business can search for reviews of his or her business on "Sul-Sul". On "Sul-Sul", you can pay your employees to write positive reviews. However, doing so could be harmful or beneficial to your business's reputation.
  - Let the player name his/her restaurant and customize the menu.
  - Cooking competition/bake off.
  - Sims could enter their own dish into a competition against others where it would be judged by a food critic.
  - Create cakes with cooking skill, same as other meals. We could make ordinary chocolate/vanilla/etc. cakes at early levels, then 6-8 birthday cakes and 9-10 wedding cakes.
  
  
  Therapist
  - Have the option to have an office in your home or on a purchased lot. The only thing is required is a front desk and receptionist.
  - New item: lounge chair or couch.
  - Sims could come in, lay down and spill the beans. If you are not playing the therapist sim and need therapy after say a divorce, death in the family or something along those lines that sim could make an appointment and head over to the therapist. Maybe while in the session you could click on a sim and there would be a certain amount of questions you could ask. Your therapist sim would sit in their seat with a notebook and pen and take notes while listening. Maybe after work hours you would have the option on a computer to write reports on each patient. A box could pop up and you'd be able to pick which patient you want to file a report on. Appointments would have to be made to manage the business hours and how many sims were able to be seen in a business day. Each appointment could last 1 sim hour and you could choose how much time in between sessions. After a few sessions of therapy your sim could possibly solve the patients problems or decide if more therapy is needed.
  - A therapist could clear out bad moodlets. Let's say we break up with our spouse, Sims get a negative moodlet. Why not have therapist talk them out of it or at least relieve their pain (turning a negative moodlet into a neutral - blue - one).
  
  Online Store (as E-Bay)
  - New interaction with the computer that you can bid against other sims for new or used object and sell object on the computer.
  
  Auctions
  - The auctioneer would have a stage with the item in question. Sort of like the stage object in Showtime. The auctions would be like the Showtime careers. The auctioneer would have stage and the item in question would be behind him or her. The sing-o-grams is how the auction would be. Sims would have some item, a car for example, and meet the auctioneer at the auction house. You would have a row of chairs and they would have a thought bubble indicating how much they bid. There could be a display that shows what the current bid is at and what the minimum increment is.
  - There could have appraisers as well. The appraisers could appraise lots preparing for auctions. Also, if the player wishes to move an active family out of their home, they could hire an appraiser. The market could change all the time! Like our market in real life, sometimes home prices are through the roof, sometimes dirt cheap.
  
  
  Banks
  - Loans (with interest rates)
  - Savings (with interest rates!)
  - Morgages (really, who buys a house outright these days?)
  - Investments, stocks and shares (big opportunities and BIG risks! Give us an option to lose money too!)
  - Criminal sims and kleptomaniacs might have the option to rob the bank! Cat-burgler style, not stick-em up style.
  - A career in banking or finance. Possible opportunities to swindle the taxpayer at top levels!
  - Sims could pay tax which goes to the city hall as funds and can be used for things like upgrading public spaces, scholarships and charity.
  
  Flower Shop
  - Buy flowers from the flower arranging stand, could have the Sims an positive moodlet or even a nice smell in their houses.
  
  Fresh Produce
  - Sims could have the chance to sell all their gardening and fishing products.
  
  Garage
  - Sims could fix wrecked cars and sold them.
  
  Toy – Making station (Toy Store)
  - Carpentry skill related to a self-employed profession.
  - Be able to make and design custom logos for toys.
  - Printer
  o The sim has to connect the printer to the computer.
  o The sim has to buy the material or look for it.
  o On the computer the sim will design it (when you click the design button it freezes time and goes to the in game tool.
  o Then if the user wants to finish it a different time he could click to save it.
  o If he wants to print it he clicks print and it prints in the sim's 3D printer.
  
  Service Bots
  - They watered your plants, patrolled your home and tidied up and sometimes broke and spewed garbage all over the lawn.
  - Have a business which offers cleaning, repairing or landscaping at other sims houses.
  
  Antique Store
  - Sim could sell all the antiques they brought back from their trips to Egypt, France or China.
  
  Gem Store/Jewellery
  
  Pet shops
  
  Pet Shelters
  - Sims could send all the randomly spawned baby pets there instead of calling the adoption people.
  Realtor
  - Buy houses for cheap; fix them and then selling them.
  
  Clothing Store/Stylist Salon
  - Have the chance to make really specific stores like men's suit tailors, sparkly evening wear shops, quirky vintage shops or trendy fashion chains.
  - Sims could design the clothes so everybody uses them around the town!
  - Hairdresser's chair.
  - Salon chair where sims can get facials, pedicures and manicures.
  
  
  Consignment Store owners

  - You get jobs at other sims homes and you go and tend their gardens for them.

  - Music teachers who go to student’s homes to teach.
  
  Bed and Breakfast
  - In your house you select room that you lease for some days. The Sim

  nobody created a petition tread because they're useless, if you want a company to pay attention to your petiton it need to be on a real site and not a forum,

  Some ideas:
  
  Self Employment Professions
  
  -Art Shop: Sculptors and Painters can even sell merchandise online
  
  -Museum: In order to keep museum goers happy, your sim must have at least one new collection each sim week. And they can search online or artsy types can come to your sim to ask to have their work displayed. Or your sim could find an artist or artists to work for them.
  
  Probably could combine an Art Shop and Museum though.
  
  -Book Shop: Where your writer sim(s) can sell their own books plus other books too and can do book signings or have other writers do that as well.
  
  -Farmers Market: All produce your sim harvests from their garden can be sold for profit in an open community lot type.
  
  Besides individual community lots, I'd like to see a whole mall of OFB related gameplay. 8)
  
  I would also like to see...
  
  -Bakery
  -Toy Store
  -Ice cream shop (I wonder who would make Ben and Jerry? lol)
  -Restaurant
  
  Can't think of anything else at the moment.

  To be honest? I'd totally love it. The bakery was one of my favorite shops to run, and I enjoyed the toy making skill a lot.
  
  Unfortunately, I also remember something important: Ambitions was actually advertised as what they were attempting to create with Open for Business. As such, it's perfectly possible this is not possible with Sims 3. Of course, there's always Sims 4, so it's not impossible either.

  I think maybe they intended ambitons to be the sims 3 version, but anyone who has played sims 2 can surely see how different they are. There are a lot of things I like about ambitions but if I had to choose between them, OFB would win by miles. And you can see from the forum how many people want it! The gurus can always change their minds...
  
  If it's too late for sims 3 at least threads like this show ea what many of us want for sims 4, as you say.

  My other favourites were:
  
  *flower shop (I loved that flower arranging stand, especially the flowers that released a special mood enhancing pollen. My houses had flowers on every surface! )
  *fresh produce (gardening and fishing, and bigfoot worked at this shop!)
  *garage (my mechanic owned a garage and he fixed the wrecked car and sold them)
  *electrical goods (my criminal sim owned this, would love to be able to have my sims 3 criminal sell stolen goods! :twisted: )
  *toy-making station (I'd like it if this was updated to general carpentry with a self-employed profession.
  *service-bots (they watered your plants, patrolled your home and tidied up... and sometimes broke and spewed garbage all over the lawn!)
  *coffee shops
  *bookstores (we could sell our own novels!)
  *And I was always trying to make a shop that sold my adventuring goodies from my vacations (I can do this with my WA loot and call it an antique store)
  
  and I would also like to make:
  
  *a gem store (even better... a jewellery store!)
  *a garden centre
  *restraunts
  *hotels
  (and I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now)
  
  I really hope we get ofb for sims 3!

  OFB was different than Ambitions in so many ways. I've never felt like I was running a business in Ambitions... my Sim IS the business. Then s/he just toddles off to the consignment shop or now the alchemy shop and puts stuff up for someone else to sell.... I want MY Sim to be on THAT end of the register...not the store side, the REGISTER side. I want to hire/fire/promote like OFB. I want to decorate my store and set up displays. You can't do that with Ambitions. It's nothing like OFB. Bring back OFB!!! Ok, off my soapbox and signed...

  I love the idea of being a realtor buying houses for cheap , fixing them up and then selling them. Having fundraisers and giving money back to the city AWESOME! Running a small to a huge corporation amazing. I would love to make a mechanic in a small crappy warehouse and turn it into a huge Corporation where all my sim has to do is go into work and order people around. I also love the idea of Promoting , demoting and firing people. I would love to control how much they get and how long there work days is. Even if my sim was big time of course i would still do work myself. So male sim Mechanic female sim Florist / Jeweller
