Oh, so close. Hmm, here is my next tip: If the bar for your Sim is already close to the top for the next promotion then there is no need to work. Just chill by watching tv or, when your Sim is super tired, let them sleep at work. They still get the promotion with no consequences.

    Again ty for hosting!

ETA: YAY! THIS IS MY 500TH POST (HALF WAY THERE TO 1000)! I WAS HOPING I WOULD MAKE THIS MANY POST SOON AND I FINALLY DID! :) Sorry, didn't mean to yell, but I got excited. :)

    Congrats to the winners! :D

I can't remember if anyone has said this already, but if you type in the 'boolprop' cheat, you can drag up the career bar for the careers you get from the Ambitions Expansion Pack. You can also drag up the relationship bars to have an instant best friend.

Building Tip/trick: its always really annoying when you have lots of empty space in a room, so heres a tip to avoid it. After building the main structure of your house, when it comes to make the rooms, instead of placing the rooms first, place the furniture first then build the walls around the furniture.

After reading some entries, the only thing I could think is how to make a tree house
please tell me if I did something wrong
    So
You have to build a 3-floor house. Then you must delete the first 2 floors, after that add stairs(spirals are much better)or you can leave it so and just teleport your sims up there. Then add a big tree(like palms)
Tip:Follow the same steps, without adding trees and stairs and you will have an UFO

This is an example I made to try if this works
Link(for everyone who wants to take a better look): http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=6383827

Congratulations, you have got your own tree house
This tip is 100% mine.I found how to build my own floating houses when I deleted the first floor of the fire-station by mistake  Im sure that many simmers know this tip

    Thank you for hosting

If you want a rare plant, such as the death flower or money tree, and don't have time/patients to go and find one, or you don't want to spend time increasing your sim's gardening skill to plant certain produce you can do this. First open the cheat bar (ctrl-shift-C) and type in testingcheatsenabled true. After that open the cheat bar again and enter buydebug. This will allow you to plant any plant your heart desires, and any sim can take care of it.

I find it really useful to have a few 'Special' sims I use for building new lots with. I work a sim for example to Full Handiness for upgrading electricals and plumbing, a sim with a large amount of Lifetime points so I can add great items such as the hoover broom or genie lamp etc. I also have a sim I took to France and bought dozens of quality Nectar bottles, recipe books and fishing bait books.
So I just save them to the Library (Town view) after a brief description of what they have. Also useful as a Tester Sim and for being able to Save often.

If you add a fountain next to your pool you could end up with something like this..

    Pool.jpg

It looks like you have a kids pool next to the main pool, you can also add water toys around the pool and use the sprinkler for them to play in. It makes a change from just have a pool and nothing else.

I'm sorry, but this tip is a duplicate of this one here, and I can't accept it. I hope you'll be able to come up with something else.

I love this thread because I can come here and get lots of tips and ideas

I don't know if this really counts but I thought people might want to know if you have not figured it out already. If you have pets and like to have cats & dogs it really helps to have a lot of room between furniture, other items you place around the house and wide hallways. I find that there are a lot of times my pets are walking backwards to get around things and it can take extra time for them or your sims to complete actions when items are in their way.

I don't have a wl and probably won't for awhile since for now I have a lot of store stuff. If this does count as a tip and I get picked I will list people to gift in my place if that is ok.

Have a great day everyone, hugs & smiles :D

Tip: when you are setting up a photo, you can use the free ceiling and wall lights (found in the buy mode after first entering testingcheatsenabled true, and then buydebug in the cheat bar) to create the desired lighting, and not have to worry about light fixtures showing up in the photo.

I would like to nominate myself.

Childish trait benefit: Non cheat relationship boost :)
I always give my sim the childish trait in a new game. Adults with this trait have the ability to "play tag" with everyone. If you introduce yourself, then immediately play tag, you can cancel the actions as soon as the other sim starts to run away. Now your relationship bar with that sim will start to fill, and continue going up even with no interaction. I try to find a busy place and play tag (and quit as soon as the other sim runs) with everyone there! The only sims I have found that are immune are the ones that dislike children. When I go home I will start getting wishes to be friends, and while I'm doing other things (like reading skill books or sleeping) the wishes are fulfilled and good/best friend ones pop up and are fulfilled. I usually only use this trick with new adult sims since they were unable to build relationships from birth up like my other sims do. And it's kind of sad to move them into a new town and not have any friends lol

When sims are young they have this ability to play tag without a special trait, and it works the same for them while they are kids with teens, adults, elders, and other kids

Ok, i don't know if this counts but i will give it a shot.
My tip is if you get the dreaded error 12 try saving under 'save as' instead of just 'save' and changing the name you save it under.
I had problems with error 12, for a long time and ever since i saved it under a different name. I have not had the problem since.

Ps- BryonyRae, i think this thread is such a good idea i have learnt quite a few tips i didn't know and i'm sure lots of other people will too!
Also, the subject name Tricks for Treats. Great Name! I love puns! :D
