Calling all designers! It is that time again! Time to let your style truly shine and compete in the Spring Designer Showdown! If you are a veteran of BnS, you should already be quite familiar with these design challenges. The challenge here is not building, but taking a blank shell and deck it all out to the best of your designer abilities! Don't waste your time trying to change the architecture, because you will not be able to change the walls and roofing of this house!
We saw some amazing results and even some featured lots with the previous Showdowns, so lets ramp it up even more this time and dazzle the masses with your designer magic.
This is the house - click to download! (***DL HERE if you don't have Generations)
Like some of the previous Showdowns, you will be choosing an inspirational object from below (all from the base game).
You will choose ONE of these items to use as your inspiration to decorate and furnish your house. In the end, when the judges look at your media, they should know which item you chose just by looking at the way you decorated and furnished. Please also include the object you chose somewhere in your house and be sure to have it in a screenshot. You cannot duplicate the item you do use as your inspiration.
Requirements:
* You can change anything but the foundation, walls, and general roof shape
* Yes, all walls, foundation, and roof shape must remain the same
* You can add, delete, change, and relocate any windows and doors

“Your brother Ranunculus, is quite the chef!” you say to your assistant, Rose, as you enter the studio after a delicious lunch at the Little Corsican Bistro. “The steak au poivre is to die for!” You think to yourself that perhaps you shouldn’t have had that second glass of chateauneuf-du-pape, because now all you feel like doing is taking a nap. Then you notice that Rose hasn’t responded to your remark about her brother, who is now the executive chef at Sunset Valley’s local eatery.
“Is there something the matter, Rose?” you ask delicately.
“Mother’s back!” she blurts out.
“Is she here for a vis…”
“Byron’s dead! She’s moving back to Sunset Valley!”
Rose’s mother had abruptly left town the previous year after marrying Byron Barkley, a rancher from Appaloosa Plains. Rose, who used to live with her mother, is now living in the cottage you designed for her, and she has, you think, really come into her own. You wonder if she is afraid of being overshadowed by her mother again.
“Is your mother moving in with y…”
“She’s in your office. Waiting for you.” There is a look of desperation in Rose’s eyes. Then her eyes soften, and she says, “I do love my mother!”
“Okay, I’ll go see what I can do for her!”
Rose’s mother, Violet, is a slightly smaller, slightly grayer version of Rose herself. But there the resemblance ends. Whereas Rose is quiet and serious, her mother’s bubbly personality hits you as soon as you enter the room.
“It’s just fabulous to see you again, hon! You are so good to my little Rosie!” Violet enthuses all over you.
“Mrs. Barkley, I’m so sorry to hear about your husband’s pass…”
“Oh, never you mind that, hon! He died doing the thing he loved most. He was breaking a new horse, which, unfortunately, broke him instead.”
You are somewhat surprised by her casual attitude toward her husband’s death until you see her dab a tear from her eye with an impeccably ironed white handkerchief.
“Well then, what can I do for you? Or is your visit more social than professional?” you say awkwardly.
She gives you a wry smile. “Hon, let’s not kid ourselves. When I showed up here unannounced, Rosie turned whiter than the sheets on my bed! She’s afraid I’m going to move back in with her. And frankly, I don’t blame her. I can be a little overpowering. [It takes all your determination to keep a straight face.] Rosie’s new cottage is the best thing for her. I don’t want to ruin that. No, what I want you to do is design a little place for me—oh, and for my two horses—oh, and for my stable boy, Pedro.”
You make a conscious effort to close your mouth, and before you can say something, Violet goes on. “And please don’t fill the place with floral patterns! I know Rosie loves them, but frankly, they give me a headache. No, I like simple, casual elegance. A Western or California kind of décor is okay—as long as it’s not too kitchy. Oh, and I like soft colors—no bright red dining rooms, please!”
You whip out your notebook and start writing. After an hour with Rose’s mother, you really need that nap, but as you usher Violet Barkley out, she grabs her daughter by the arm and says, “I’m sure the boss will let me take you out to lunch, sweetie. Let’s see if your brother, Nunkie, can come up with something fabulous for us, and I’ll tell you about the new place I’m having built right here in Sunset Valley!” She winks at you, and you nod your head in approval.
Requirements:
• Budget: §175,000
• Lot: any lot 30 x 30 or larger in Sunset Valley
• House: 3 bedrooms (1 master, 2 guest); at least 2.5 bathrooms; a “play room” for when Violet’s grandchildren visit; two-car garage or parking area; other rooms for convenient living; one story only, unless you use an elevator (Violet is getting on in years, and doesn’t want to climb stairs. In any event, the master bedroom should be on the ground floor, and for some reason, Violet insists that there be a double bed in her bedroom.)
• Interior: simple, casual elegance; soft colors; no busy floral patterns (they give Violet headaches!)
• Out Building: a barn/stable with room for two horses and an attached bedroom/bathroom for Pedro
• Appropriate landscaping for the house and a fenced pasture for the horses
• CC is allowed, but please list/link/credit them when you submit so downloaders can find them!
Optional Challenge: Create Violet Barkley (Elder), Pedro Almodóvar (Young Adult) and, if you have Pets, the 2 horses (Diablo and Angelica), and show pictures of them enjoying their new “small” ranch.
Build-n-Share Challenge #151-152 • The Great Escape
"Morning Rose." you say as you drag yourself into the office.
"Good morning!" The ever chipper Rose replies and begins to tell you about your morning schedule.
You don't really take much in, so jump in surprise as Rose buzzes in your next appointment. You quick glance down at your paperwork and see the appointment is for Mr. and Mrs. Fereday. You tell Rose to send them in and stand to greet them.
After greetings have been exchanged, refreshments brought in by Rose, and everyone is sitting comfortably the couple starts talking.
"It's so nice to finally meet you in person, my name is Katherine Fereday and this is my husband Cameron." The young blonde announces proudly. You remember they are newly married from your quick peek at their file.
"It's nice to meet you as well and congratulations on your marriage. Why don't you tell me what I can do for you?" You begin.
Cameron, a shy looking young man, begins talking. "Well you see, we were married a year ago and since the wedding we've been living with Katherine's parents trying to save up money for a house." He says, looking frustrated. "I admit I don't think either of us realized how hard it was going to be with all of us living together; what with her parents and siblings....It's just gotten to be too much."
"Cameron's an only child, so he's not used to the hustle and bustle of a full household." Katherine interrupts. "So while we haven't saved as much as we would like, we have a good amount to get a smaller home that we can maybe add onto later. Cameron's an author, so he works from home and my parents’ house doesn't allow him room to concentrate." Katherine states sadly.
You smile because you'd love nothing more than to help this couple. "So, tell me what you would like in a home and how much you have. We'll see what we can do for you two."
"I need an office for my writing and two desks would be wonderful, as Katherine has been studying to be a doctor and will need her own space." Cameron says.
"And obviously we need a bedroom; two guest rooms would be lovely so we can use one as a nursery when the time comes. It could even be set up as a nursery now; since my oldest sister has had a baby recently and it would be nice for when they visit from out of town." Katherine adds in, face flushed.
"It would be nice if we could have a space outside to have family over, we all love the outdoors. It's such a great escape and always gives me inspiration in my stories." Cameron finishes.
"Well, that's all good but now I need to know your budget." You say, making the smiles drop on their faces.
The two stare at each other and turn to you. Katherine makes the big announcement, "With what we received in wedding gifts, what we had saved up prior to the wedding, and what we've saved up since the wedding, we have a grand total of $83,000."
That's more than you thought it was, so you're able to give them the good news. "I think we'll be able to help you for that amount and get you everything you wanted." And they're so happy that they're running out the door, happy to leave the details to you.
Requirements:
Build Cameron and Katherine Fereday a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house. (One room a master bedroom, the others guest rooms (One can be a nursery))
Any SP and EP can be used, no CC aside from patterns.
They need an office with 2 desks and one computer at least.
An outdoor space for family get-togethers.
Total cost of lot cannot be over $83,000 fully furnished
Any lot or size as long as it meets the basic requirements.
*Any style goes, let's see what we can all do with just the SP and EP's.

Build-n-Share Challenge #153-154 • Central Park Redux
“Ah, young love,” you think to yourself as you close the file on the Fereday job. Cameron and Katherine adored their new house and have assured you that they will be sending all of their friends your way for their decorating needs.
“Rose?” you ask over the intercom.
“Yes, boss,” she responds.
“Come on in, and let’s discuss this week’s schedule.”
You’ve hardly finished your sentence before the office door pops open, and Rose hurries in with a stack of files for you. She fishes one file out of the stack and pushes it toward you. “THIS one is big. Real big,” she grins. “The Mayor of Sunset Valley will be here at 9:00 to discuss it with you.”
“The Mayor?” you ask with just a bit of trepidation.
“Yep! In person,” she says proudly. “He’s heard great things about the firm and wants us for a huge project that’s already been green-lighted by the City Council. It’s going to be very high profile! I’m going to tidy up the reception area a bit and make sure there’s fresh coffee ready. He’ll be here in 45 minutes.” Rose gives you an encouraging smile then hurries out of your office.
With nothing to do but dive right in, you open the file and start preparing. Engrossed in your plans, you are surprised to hear a knock on the door. Glancing at the clock, you realize it’s almost 9, and the mayor must be here. You rise and open the door with a bright smile on your face.
“Come right in, Mr. Mayor,” you say as you usher the Mayor to a seat. “Rose, would you bring us two coffees? How do you take yours?” you inquire of the Mayor.
“Black, two sugars,” he responds briskly. Rose nods and hurries off.
“So, revamping Central Park?” you ask. “That sound like an exciting project for the city.”
“Yes, yes,” says the mayor. “The old park has held us in good stead for many, many years; but it just doesn’t function for our changing city. We’ve got all types of new folks moving in – young professionals, both single and with families. They’re used to certain types of activities being available in other cities, and we’ve got to change with the times if we’re going to keep them happy and settled in Sunset Valley.”
“Just what kinds of things do you have in mind?” you ask.
“Well,” says the mayor, “I’ve visited several surrounding cities that have a music venue right in the park. That opens up the space for all kinds of uses that wouldn’t otherwise be possible.”
“Mmmhmmm,” you agree as you add to your notes. “Thanks Rose,” you add as Rose arrives with coffees for you and the mayor. She nods back to you then quickly exits to leave you to the meeting.
The mayor adds his thanks and takes a sip of the coffee. “Perfection!” he says. “Nothing better than a fresh cup of coffee.” You agree and make a mental note to repay Rose somehow for remembering the Mayor’s fondness for coffee.
“And what else do you have in mind for the new park?” you ask.
“Oh, it absolutely must have a little al fresco café. Being able to grab a cup of coffee and a pastry or sandwich will play a huge part in bringing people in to enjoy the space.”
You nod in agreement and jot down more notes. Encouraged, the mayor continues, “People love the pond and fishing area, but it seems a bit plain and outdated. I’d like to see a new layout for that and more landscaping around it.”
“Do you have a concept of the style you thinking of?” you probe.
The mayor thinks for a minute. “The city area itself is pretty traditional, so I don’t want to clash with that, but I think we can make things a bit …” he trails off looking for the right word. “Hipper, I guess? Make it look like a place that all folks of all ages would like to hang out it. I’ll leave that vision up to you as you’re the expert.”
“Oh, absolutely,” you agree. “I’m getting a picture of what the new space could look like already. You’ve mentioned a music venue, café, and update of the old fishing pond. Is there anything else you’d like me to focus on?”
“The only other thing is the kids’ play area. All we have there now are swings, and that seems a bit limited. I’d love to see a playground with even more for the kids to enjoy. And space for the parents to sit and watch their kids, of course.”
“We can certainly do all that and more,” you assure the Mayor. “Would two weeks be an acceptable timeline?”
“Oh my, yes!” booms the mayor. “You sure do work quick. The council will be very pleased.”
“Anything I can do for the city,” you say graciously as you show the Mayor out, thinking to yourself “Phew, this is going a be a busy two weeks…”

Build-n-Share Challenge #155-156 • Florian's Fitness Center
Due to traffic, you're running late getting to the office. This is why you greet Rose, "Morning Rose, sorry I'm so behind. Traffic was terrible coming into town." without noticing the huge and bulky man sitting in the corner eyeing your harried appearance.
Rose coughs and stands up. "It's not a problem, however you have a surprise appointment." She announces and gestures for the man to stand up.
In a strong Austrian accent, he introduces himself. "I'm very sorry to burst in, but when I asked who was in charge of the recent work done on Central Park your name popped up and I decided to drop in on the chance you had some time to see me." The newly introduced Lukas Florian stated.
While Rose is getting together your morning coffee and other refreshments, you lead Mr. Florian into your office. "Please, have a seat. I'm very interested in what brought you here so suddenly Mr. Florian." You say, taking a seat.
Just then Rose comes in passing out refreshments and some pastries. "Thank you Rose." He says kindly, making her blush a bit. "And please call me Lukas."
The way he says it makes me flush a bit as well. "Hmmhmm, okay so let's get started. What can I do for you Lukas?"
"Well, it's like this. I own a chain of fitness centers and have been looking to open a few new ones. My team has been out scouting areas and originally we were going to pass over Sunset Valley, but one of my scouts passed through and noticed how many people were around due to the upgrade of just the park. So when they called me, I decided to come out for myself and do some research. In the past few months there's been a rise in Sunset Valley's population. Young couples, families just starting out and it turns out you have quite a few celebrities that have been attracted to the area because of the concert venue added to the park." He paused to take a breath here.
Lukas stood up and began pacing as he continued. "What it all comes down to is that the commercial lots here have become prime reality. I just went over to the 28 Hour Wellness Center and bought out the owner. This is where I want my newest fitness center. The cost of the center was a little over 121,000 Simoleans and I'm willing to invest more into it for a total of 175,000 Simoleans." Lukas finished, sitting back down and looking my way.
I was flabbergasted, 175k simo's was a lot of money to sink into a property like that. "So, what are your ideas for this center?" I asked, pulling my notepad and pen towards me. It was time to take some serious notes.
"You can either upgrade everything in the place, and I mean everything. It's so outdated I couldn't believe there were patrons." He shook his head and focused.
"I'd prefer if you bulldozed it and started fresh though, but whatever works best with the budget. This town is more homey, but with some modern thrown in. I don't know if a fully modern build will fit in, so I'll let you work out the specifics. The building should blend in though. It will need ample parking, at least 3 of each kind of exercise machines, bathrooms, showers, a sitting area, a lap pool at least, at least 2 dressing rooms and a juice bar. With membership to my fitness centers, you get the full deal. I expect celebrities, business men and business women to be stopping in when they have a bit of time to spare and those dressing rooms will be a necessity for them. DO you think you can manage that all on that budget?" He asks.
"I believe I can. Let me draw up some ideas and we should have something in a couple of weeks." You say. After a bit more clarification on some things, you walk him to the door. Taking a deep breath you head back in and to the drawing board.
Requirements:
-Your budget is $175,000 fully furnished
-Bulldoze or Completely Remodel 28 Hour Wellness Center in Sunset Valley
-Any design will work, but a bit modern is needed
-At least 3 of:
-Parking Spaces
-Bathrooms
-Each type of exercise machine
-2 or more dressing rooms with dressing tables or dresser and mirror
-pool, can be just a pool for swimming laps
-Juice bar with a couple tables and chairs for sims to sit at
Optional:
You can put in a counter with register to order food at with the juice bar and a hot tub area. Make it a relaxing place for sims to unwind after a long workout with friends.
Good luck!
While standing next to your office window, you overlook the festivities celebrating Independence Day waiting for you final appointment of the day to show up. Just then Rose buzzes on the intercom. "Your 4 O'Clock appointment is here." She announces.
"Go ahead and bring him in Rose." You say as you take a seat, pulling a file to you. You've been over Charlie Knox's file multiple times and still can't get over the oddness of his requests.
Rose opens the door and leads in a elderly man. His white hair sticking up, his clothing immaculate, shoulders slightly stooped, and fidgety blue eyes behind glasses look over every detail in the office.
"Good afternoon Mr. Knox." You greet him, gesturing to the chair in front of you desk. "Please have a seat, would you like any refreshments?"
"No, thank you." Mr. Knox refused gruffly, but settles into the chair.
You open the file and get your notepad ready as Rose takes her leave. "Now Mr. Knox, I've been over your file repeatedly and I have to admit I'm not sure we've gotten your requests on your new home taken down properly." You admit, since you don't want to tell him outright they seem odd.
He reaches for the file and you hand it over, patiently waiting for him to read it. He clears his throat. "Nope, your lady out there got it right." He announced. "And you may as well call me Charlie." He added as an afterthought.
"Well Charlie, why don't you explain this to me in greater detail. Give me specifics of what you want, budget, and any other specifics you can think of. Then I can let you know how long this project will take and see if we can come to an agreement on it." You say, getting your pen ready.
He sits forward on his chair, eyes gleaming as he gets ready to go into detail. "It's like this you see, everyone said the world was going to end in 2012. And here we are in 2012, but so far nothing's happened. I think something will happen, but it won't destroy the world. And just in case it's going to happen at the end of the year, I plan on being prepared. I've cashed in my stocks, saved up my retirement money, and am ready to have my fallout shelter built. I don't want a regular old one though, I want a fully liveable shelter." He explained.
You're completely stumped and left speechless by his explanation. "Okay, well I need to know exactly how you want this done." Is all you manage to say.
And he explains what he needs. It's quiet the list, but you're up for it. After going over the specifics and the budget, you shake hands with Mr. Knox. "It was a pleasure to meet you Charlie. Give me two weeks and I'll have your shelter built for you." You say as he leaves the office.
After Rose has let him out and locked up, she enters the office to see you sitting in your chair dazed. After hearing it herself, her only response is "I think we should get a bottle of nectar and take it back to my place to drink. Then maybe ol' Charlie will make a bit more sense." And the two of you leave, all the while going over the list of requirements.
Requirements:
Budget: $150,000
Home: House must be built on a 30x30 Lot. You can choose a lot with a home on it already and just add the fallout shelter underneath or choose an empty lot to build both the upper home and fallout shelter on.
-A full home is needed underground
-Home must have 2 bedrooms
-2 bathrooms, one off the master bedroom
-Lots of activities to keep someone busy for long periods of time by themselves.
****EDIT**** For the house above ground you can have a nice house, a shack...basically anything goes. You can choose a lot with a starter house on it and just add the shelter to that so you don't have to build 2 residences or you can build both on a completely empty lot. It's all up to you.
As for the budget. A 30x30 lot is $1800 if I'm not mistaken, so you can go to $151,800. If you use a lot with a house on it, the cost of the house will have to work within the budget. However for this one you can have the extra $1800 and have the fully furnished home come to that $151,800. We'll say that Mr. Knox already owned the land he wanted it built on. I was going to include that and forgot, so my mistake. (That's why it had to be on a 30x30)

Build-n-Share Challenge #159-160 • Big Budget Craftsman
Your Clients have just managed to have their dream house, a craftsman style 3 bedroom, built. Then they found out the Mrs was having their first baby. That left her too sick and tired to do much. She still hasn't picked the siding, any flooring, done the landscaping, decorated, etc. All she has is columns, the brick foundation, windows, doors, and outdoor stairs in the colors she choose.
There's a lot of work to do, but you have a really good sized budget. The clients are willing to pay to get this done fast. They need the house done and the house done quickly. Here are the floor plans:

You can change the interior stair color only.
You can replace windows/doors, but must take up the same amount of space. Exp. If you remove 3 one space windows for one window...you must use one 3 space window. They must also keep the white trim. Let's see how you can make warm natural woods flow with the white washed wood.

Build-n-Share Challenge #161-162 • Welcome Mr. Principle
As you settle into your office for another morning of client meetings , Rose comes into your office in a flurry of activity. " Mrs. Chalke is here and wants an emergency meeting with you!" You stop in the middle of raising your cup of tea to your lips. "What?" you stammer! Rose gives you that look she only reserves for times like these. " Should I usher her into the office?" You blink as you gather your thoughts. " Yes show her in, please, Rose"
Milderd Chalke, was the intimidating new Superintendent of Sunset Valley schools. A robust woman in her mid-fifties with a shock of overdyed fire engine red hair, Mrs. Chalke gives off an aura of no nonsense as she enters your office. You notice she has a file folder crammed full of papers in her hand as she enters.
"Hello! Please don't get up from your chair! Let's cut to the chase and dispense with formalities!" She has you in a wide-eyed glare! You are completely stunned at her brisque manner. "Okay, go ahead with what you have planned, Mrs. Chalke!", you stammer!
"Sunset Valley has hired a new Principal for this term and he and his family needs a new home. He is originally from Lucky Palms, where he was the Physical Education instructor for the district!" she states. "We at the school district have heard of your thorough and speedy work on some other local projects. We hope you can handle this job with all of your rumored attention and haste."
You finally get to interject a word into this conversation. "Yes, I would be happy to help design a new home for .........?", you state. "Mr. Paulio Principle is the new Principal!" she intercedes. " He will be joined by his wife, Lolita, his teenage daughter, Moira, his nine-year-old son, Ulysses, and his toddler sion, Yves", she commands!
"They want a home that will fit into Sunset Valley but has some modern and contemporary elements like homes in Lucky Palms! A home with at least 3 bedrooms, but 4 would be better, since they plan to adopt another child and at least 2.5 bathrooms. A gym, study, pool, and an outdoor entertaining area would also be nice. They would also like a roomy kitchen and at least a one car garage!", she says with a flourish! "Oh yes, the school district is providing $105,000 for the land and construction."
She stands up suddenly and extends her hand! You stand, grasp her hand, and state, " Mrs. Chalke, I think we can get what you need done by the start of term." She drops your hand and exits the room. You stand staring at the door with a puzzled look smeared across your face!
Requirements:
NOTE: You do not need Lucky Palms to attempt this challenge. The client's are only looking for a home like the one they had in Lucky Palms to be built in Sunset Valley.
Budget: $105,000
Lot Siae: Any
Rooms Required: Living, Dining, Kitchen, At least 3 bedrooms but prefer 4, at least 2.5 bathrooms, a gym, and a study
Outdoor Areas: Pool and an Outdoor Entertaining Area

Link to media:http://s1063.photobucket.com/upload/albums/NZsnowboarder2012/ Optional Challenge: I have created the family and they have adopted a child called Will. I created Paulio to be a genius, family orientated, a bookworm, athletic and friendly. His wife Lolita is neat, a natural cook, a genius, family orientated and a green thumb. The kids have many of the same traits. Moira is grumpy, as she is not in a good mood about having to move. Will the adopted kid is a loner, loves the outdoors and a vegetarian. Ulysses is artistic. Yves is easily impressed and athletic. http://www.thesims3.com/assetDetail.html?assetId=6222106 Constructive criticism: Yes,please.
Build-n-Share Challenge #163-164 • Let's Get Supernatural!
The upcoming Sims 3 Supernatural expansion pack is one that many simmers have been looking forward to for a long time. Even if Supernatural is not your cup of tea as far as gameplay goes, I think that it provides a great opportunity for creativity in building and design, which, of course, is the focus of B-n-S. So... your challenge this week is to pick one of the NEW supernaturals we will be able to play as (fairy, werewolf, witch, or warlock) and design the perfect home for him...or her...or it
Here are your parameters:
2 Bedroom
2 Bathrooms
Must have design elements that make it apparent which supernatural you are building for
30 x 30 lot or larger
89,000 cost limit (including lot, house, and furnishings)
You can go all out with this one, or play it more subtle (think a supernatural who is trying to integrate into the Sims world - maybe they have a human wife or husband and a normal day job, human friends, etc).
Above all, have fun! And let's get Supernatural!!!
Optional Challenge:
Best Covershot: Present ONE image of your build (picture-in-picture is allowed) with your entry form. Caption it, frame it, use all the photo-effects you want. If it works as an upload image for you build, all the better. The winning shot from each entry category will be featured on Builder's Boulevard.
Build-n-Share Challenge #165-166 • Two Modern Guys
As you settle into your seat for a day of meetings and site visits, you notice Rose smiling while carrying a weird metal orb with what looks like arms coming out of one side towards your office. She enters with a smug look on her face. "Rose what do you have?" you ask. With a condescending look that only Rose has, she gives you a quick remark "a special gift for you from your next appointment as inspiration for their request" she quips!
Your curiosity peaked by this strange gift, you tell Rose to usher them into your office. She leaves with a look of a woman on a mission.
You take a quick peak at the orb she has placed on your desk and notice that it is not arms but pieces of multi-colored stained glass that forms rays coming from one side of the orb. You also notice the orb is made up of different metallic textures that hold and bend the light. You wonder what this interesting piece of artistic inspiration holds for your meeting.
Rose beeps you on the intercom. "Mr. Lothario is here!" You wonder why Don Lothario is here. Has he finally settled down and needs a home?
Rose opens your door and ushers a young man into your office. This young man is definitely not Don Lothario. He is tall and muscular but not overly. He has light brown hair and deep sea green eyes. He holds out his hand, " I am Seine Lothario! It is very nice to meet you!"
You reply," Hello Mr. Lothario! How may I help you today?" He states" I am here today because I am moving here to Sunset Valley from Bridgeport with my roommate, Max Koffi. He could not be here today since he is having a showing at the Twinbrook Art Museum! We need something modern and industrial that will meet our artistic needs!"
"Modern and industrial! Is there anything more you would like in this home?" You ask. "Yes!" he adds quickly! "We want a lot of textures-brick, metals, concrete, cinderblocks-all the things that bring to mind a gritty, industrial look. But we also want clean lines preferrably with a lot of leather and chrome. We need two bedrooms both with full sized beds! At least one bath but if you can fit more than go for it. The main goal for this home is we need an art studio , well a combination art studio and sculpting studio. You see I love to sculpt and have a pretty lucrative career and Max is a promising painter and artist."
As you continue to talk, Seine fills you in on more of his and Max's requirements for their new home.
As he finishes you say, "Mr. Lothario, I think we can have what you and your roommate need in about two weeks." He looks quite shocked as he replies, " Thank you! I hope you can. I have heard great things about your firm from my uncle Don!" With that he heads out the door with the Lothario swagger you have come to know!
Requirements:
Budget: $61,000
Two Bedrooms both with double beds with at least one bathroom
plus the usual living/dining/kitchen areas
A one car garage
Modern and industrial exterior and interior-Lots of brick, concrete, cinderbloc, metals, leather
Art studio with both artistic and sculpting equipment(if you do not have the sculpting equipment then just artequipment will be okay!)
Outdoor space with a pool for relaxing and seating for entertaining
Lot size must be at least a 30 X 20
Optional Challenge: Create Seine Lothario and Max Koffi and show them enjoying their new home and each working in their new art/sculpting studio.
Kaile
Link to lot: sorry, it won't upload Link to media:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LRjcQew5gs Optional Challenge: shown in video Constructive criticism: Yes, please be honest. This is honestly the first house I have ever built. I have never really attempted building before.
"Drat," you think to yourself as you end yet another seemingly unproductive screening call from a prospective client. "I'm not getting a single thing done today." Rose has been out for three days now on her annual week-long vacation, and you are beginning to sorely regret the decision not to hire a temp in her place. "I'm really going to have to see about giving her a raise when she returns," you mutter.
As you try to straighten your desk to get organized for the day, you hear the door to the outer office open. Jumping quickly to your feet, you bump into the corner of the desk in your haste to make the new arrivals feel welcome. Gritting your teeth against the pain, you put on a gracious face and limp out of your office. A young, rather casually dressed couple is standing awkwardly by the front door.
"Welcome!" you gush. "You must be Hank and Pauline. It's so nice to finally meet you!" The couple looks a little panicked at your approach, and you mentally make the note to tone it down a notch. Still fighting against the sure-to-be-bruised throbbing in your leg, you take a step back and try to smile naturally at the couple. They hesitantly return your smile. "Please, come in and make yourselves comfortable," you say as you gesture towards your office. "Can I get you anything to drink? Coffee, tea, juice... water maybe?"
"Juice would be great if it's fresh-squeezed," Hank responds. "Or spring water if you have it." Pauline nods in agreement.
You cringe inwardly realizing you've forgotten to replenish the fresh juice that surely expired a few days ago, mentally chalking up another reason that Rose deserves a raise. "Spring water it is! I'll be right back," you respond merrily and hurry off to prepare drinks for your clients, again kicking yourself for not having hired someone to take care of these sorts of things in Rose's absence.
Several moments later, your clients are comfortably settled in your office and ready to talk to you about their needs. "So," you begin, "I understand that you are looking to upgrade to a larger house? Expanding your family as I understand?"
Pauline smiles at this. "Yes," she answers with a glowing smile. "I'm about 4 months along at this point, and our babies will be arriving sometime in March."
"Babies? As in plural?" you ask.
"Oh, yeah!" enthuses Hank. "We've got two cooking. It's going to be epic!" You can't help but smile at his obvious joy.
"We've been living right on the beach over on Sunsong Avenue, and we love it," Pauline explains. It's a small place though, and we really need a larger one for us and the twins."
"Yep," says Hank mournfully. "I can see the waves from my front porch be out there to catch some in 5 minutes flat if they're breaking right..." he trails off. "But," he says firmly, "it's time to grow up. We've got to have space for the new tiny humans. If it takes me 20 minutes to reach the beach, that's just the price I have to pay." He looks a little dejected for a moment, but brightens as soon as he glances at Pauline. She returns his smile.
"So," you probe, "what size is your current house, and what size are you looking to upgrade to?"
"The way it's set up now, it's 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 baths," answers Pauline. "Although the workout room is technically a bedroom. For our new house, we need at least two bedrooms - a nursery and a master - and we'd like another one that we can make into a combination workout room and study. I'm going to be working from home for a while after the kids are born, so a home office area for me is a must."
You nod in agreement as you rapidly jot down notes. "And the babies..." you inquire, "Do you know if they're going to be boys or girls?"
"Nope!" responds Hank emphatically. "And we don't want to know until the big reveal. The birth, I mean, " he adds as if unsure if you've understood his meaning. Pauline smiles indulgently at her fiancé at this.
"Oh, yes," you respond. "So, the nursery should be decorated in neutral colors?"
"I like tan or grey with maybe yellow or green accents," Pauline interjects. They will look great no matter what sex the twins turn out to be."
"Definitely," you agree. "And for the main parts of the house... do you have any color or style preferences?"
Hank interjects here. "Well, I'll be the first to admit it - I'm pretty much a beach bum. I've lived by the shore my entire life. I know a beach-front house is not in our budget at this point, but I'd love it if you could bring that vibe to our new place."
Pauline nods in agreement. "And even though we're going to be parents, we're not, like, going to turn into OUR parents," she shudders slightly but giggles as well. "A fresh, beachy vibe is what we're looking for. Maybe a little modern twist. Or even rustic. We trust your judgment. As long as there's room for us and the new babies, we're going to be happy.
"And the budget?" you inquire.
"We can get about 55,00 for our current house, and I've saved up almost 15,000 from giving surfing lessons over the past few summers," Hank responds. "So 70,000 would be our max budget. If you can get it looking fab for under that amount it would be a bonus. Any little bit we have left over will be a nest egg for the kiddo's college fund."
You smile in anticipation of creating a new home for this endearing couple, jotting down notes as you interview them further. This is going to be a fun challenge!
Design Brief:
Current home: 1 Sunsong Ave, Sunset Valley
Current home value: 55, 000
Current home specs: 1 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath with workout room
New home location: anywhere in Sunset Valley off the main beach road, any size lot
New home specs: 2 bedrooms (1 nursery, 1 master) with workout room/study, 2 bath
New home budget: 70,000 max
Optional Challenge:
Have Pauline Wan and Hank Goddard create twins in game and post one pic of the family in the new home. The winning photo from each entry level will be featured on Builders' Boulevard.

First Floor:
Second Floor:
Requirements:
Your budget is $150,000 fully furnished
Must be placed on a 40x40 lot so all entries have the same exact space to work with
Some landscaping, how much is up too you
One bedroom must be a master, they prefer a suite
One bedroom must be a nursery (You can do a boy one and a girl one, or a neutral nursery along with a guest room...)
You must end up with three bedrooms in the end and three bathrooms.
THE MAIN CHALLENGE REQUIREMENT:
You can only use items from the base game, we are going fully back to basics....just with a big budget. Let's see how creative we can all get. No expansion packs, no stuff packs, no store items, no CC, and no buydebug.
Things you may do to the shell:
You can change the interior stair color only.
You can replace windows/doors, but must take up the same amount of space. Exp. If you remove 3 one space windows for one window...you must use one 3 space window. They must also keep the white trim. Let's see how you can make warm natural woods flow with the white washed wood.
The fireplace in the home must stay, but you can change the patterns/colors on it.
Things you may not do to the shell:
No walls can be taken down
The outside stairs, columns, and brick foundation must stay the same
Have fun and I can't wait to see what you can do. I'd love to see who can represent a nice and well thought out Craftsman style throughout the home and what you can all manage with the landscaping.
Btw just wondering since its my first win, what are we awarded? noteriety, experience? I heard it was an xp. I could be wrong either way Im estatic!! Havent been on a while. My ex took my game from me, when he moved out. But i have it back now so im happy!! bring on the next challenge.

This is the house - click to download!

Please also include the object you chose somewhere in your house and be sure to have it in a screenshot. You cannot duplicate the item you do use as your inspiration.
Requirements:

Build-n-Share Challenge #149-150 • Ranch Dressing
Good luck!

Optional Challenge:
Create Cameron and Katherine Fereday
Cameron-Writer
Shy
Loves Outdoors
Young Adult
Katherine-Medical Field
Nurturer
Loves Outdoors

Create a story for the two give them favorite colors, common interests, the other 3 traits you'd like them to have, etc.

Good luck!

Build-n-Share Challenge #157-158 • Fallout Shelter
Sorry for the mixup. End of edit. :-)

Other: At least a One Car Garage
The home needs to fit Sunset Valley but have some modern touches like Lucky Palms!
Remember you have a family of five and they want to adopt at least one more child. You have Mr. Paulio Principle, his wife, Lolita, his teen daughter, Moira, his nine-year-old son, Ulysses, and his toddler son, Yves.
Optional Challenge:
Create the Principle family and show them adopting another child to add to their loving and growing home.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Have fun and good luck!

Build-n-Share Challenge #167-168 • Beach Blanket Bingo
