Suggestion To the Store Team for July Release Sets *Locking Items Issue*

This is another "attempt" in dire hope that the store team does in fact read this and I'm "hoping" they will do the following comes this Thursday for July's New Set release. This is a request, maybe adding the word "please" 8) , but in the possibility of new sets, please release the following along with the main set

1. Sub Sets
2. Individual Items
3. UNLOCKED Premium Content Items

Reasons are as follows:

1. The fact that you are releasing Sub Sets 2 weeks later, I find a waste of time and effort to try to create an add. To be quite honest, I hope you guys have been looking at your sales. How many simmers actually purchase these sub sets 2 weeks later after the main set has been released? If not that many are purchasing sub sets, why not give it a try and sell them ALONG with the main set you will be releasing. Not everyone can afford the major set, even if it does go on sale.

Basically one way for you to make money using this is as follows:

A. Have the Main Set on sale discount, which means players will be "tempted" to purchase the main one like you want.
B. Have the Sub Sets out, but not on a sale discount, which is good for players who CAN'T spend a huge chunk of their wallet on the big set.

2. Please Officially announce AND have the individual items on the catalog. I don't know why you guys keep on "hiding" these individual items on the store site, or heck even locking them.

Not everyone, again, can afford the huge set, and obviously it helps the buyers to purchase their own items that they want to get and also "GIFTERS", *cough*those who will buy a lot more simpoints*cough* to gift individual items to simmers who probably don't want to buy the set, but maybe want a few items.

3. Please do not LOCK the premium content item for two weeks later. Instead, release it the SAME day as release. Maybe some simmers want to buy the premium content from the set instead of the other items in the set. These restrictions of purchasing items potentially keeps away buyers. Back then, when everything was NOT locked and hidden away, one could easily purchase at free will to what they want. Instead of waiting 2 weeks after the set comes out, why not give it a try and actually sell the premium content item along with the set?

NOTE: I am not asking for Premium Content to be unlocked from the Worlds, that's a different story.

With all of that in mind, I can tell you that I "personally" would be GLAD to purchase more simpoints just for the fact that I can do the following:

1. Purchase my own set
2. Gift INDIVIDUAL items to other players who can't afford the sets
3. Gift PREMIUM CONTENT to players who just want the PC Items, and not Sets.

Sorry EA, I'm not rich enough to be able to gift 20+ Sets, but I'll be glad to gift 20+ Individual Items *if that makes sense    *

In the long run Store team, why not give it a shot and try to see if making EVERYTHING available on the same day for once and see what the outcome is?

If anyone else would like to make some comments and hopefully ask the same for the Store Team to do the same, make a post too.

Thanks,
AznSensei

I have to agree. I actually did more impulse buying when everything was available both separately and together, as I could then do a price-comparison and would often find that the full sets were a better deal. OR I'd get premium content right away, before people had had the chance to come on the forums and talk about all the glitches (probably better for me that way, but worse for EA's bank account. ;)). Really, waiting for so long for these items to come out separately gives me time to re-think how much I really need them...and I probably end up buying less that way.

...Hmm...maybe I shouldn't be trying to talk EA out of this system, since it really is better for my pocket book. ;) All the same, it's nice actually having those options available. I agree that people will probably also spend a lot more in the long run when they can justify it by buying only bits and pieces at a time.

When everything was available, it was less of a hassle to deal with in terms of spending one could say.

The last time we had everything purchasable was in December (Before the Cow Plant and Killer Classics Scenario). I believe I saw more people purchasing a whole bunch of content way back then compared to how the system is running now.

Or maybe that could just be me being delusional.

    Exactly my feelings.

I have been waiting to buy the casino premium items - with everyone's excitement on the forums at the time they came out I would have probably have just bought them there and then. But now that excitement has died down, and I've also had time to think about it, that impulse moment has passed.

Also, now that I've been made to wait for them anyway, I think to myself that I might as well just wait longer until they go on a deal. So, in my mind, EA will be losing out. And, if more people are thinking this way, they will definitely lose out.

I'd rather have something new then subsets. Also I want some new premium this week especially the bear rug, romantic picnic basket or basketball goal.

Creating Sub Sets do not hinder the creation of new sets actually. I just find it silly to have a process where you release one giant set (which includes 2-3 sets actually) and then release the sub sets 2 weeks later.

I agree. The giant price tag alone keeps me from buying stuff in the first week of the month. That didn't use to be the case. I used to look forward to the first Thursday because of all the cool new stuff. Now I don't even bother.

Like Elanorbreton, I find myself waiting for the distant future and the possibility of a DD.

If my memory serves me correctly (which it usually doesn't :P) during the early days of the store all items from sets were also available on their own. I wonder what urged them to change that =/

They want more money, so they try to create an illusion to players of "Oh hey you can't get this item right now unless you buy the set."

Smart shoppers wait until items get released later and usually lose interest because other players post bugs, dissatisfied comments, etc. or they normally don't care anymore.

Another plus of unlocking all individual items is:

sometimes a player will decide they only want a handful of items from the set right away; and get them.

Some time later, the player may decide they want the rest of the set. The cost to buy all the individual pieces is too much, but when the set goes on sale, the player buys the whole set. This may likely cost more than the original set price, but still less than buying the rest of the items individually.

The player is satisfied with their decision and EA has made a net profit.

Unlocking the items, as Azn said, offers more opportunity for sales potential for EA.
