Sims 3 game keeps crashing. Any advice?

My sister's Sims 3 game keeps crashing. As far as she got the most recent time it crashed was buying a house for her created sim. I recently uninstalled and installed the entire game manually after her complaining for months about the way it kept crashing. I assumed it was a problem with something between Late Night and Pets since I installed them on her laptop all at once and it wasn't having issues before then. But I uninstalled those before manually unintalling the entire game and it didn't help. She doesn't have any custom content so I don't really get why this is happening. The only thing I can think of are those tons of free trial run games she downloads. She took a little Sim 3 break and during that break there was a lot of those games.
Although... Sims 2 (with a few expansion packs), Sims Life Stories and Sims Medieval work fine just fine. She update to Pirates and Nobles and it still works, so I'm totally confused! Any help would be awesome, because she won't leave me alone until it's fixed, lol. Thanks in advance!

First, I don't use ATI cards I prefer nVidia. I'm not sure if this card is supported for Pets or not. Pets raised the bar on graphics cards and you need to have a better than average one to play that EP. Since this is a laptop, you may want to read the info on that card here. Although the card has dedicated memory, the card is an onboard (shared Memory) graphics chip (on the RS780M chipset). These aren't really meant for gaming.
However, I can tell that the drivers haven't been updated for the card since 2009. You may want to check the AMD driver site for an update as the graphics drivers and any others should be maintained.
When all that is done. You may want to add the game executable files to the Data Execution Prevention list (DEP). This is a Windows thing only and you can read more about DEP here.
FYI - TS2 and the other games you listed are prior to or have lower requirement than the TS3 base game and additional EPs. Those should play fine on this machine but TS3 is more demanding.
