As I was getting ready to take Official pictures of my world It came to me I still needed to name it.
Because it was in a different culture It was very difficult to come up with a name and I still haven't yet, But I found lots of good ways to help you come up with names.
This will be a tutorial showing you how to create a world name easy. And you'll be surprised how cheesy and easy these town or city names can be.
-TOC-
Post One - Introduction
Post Two - list of tricks and tips
Post Three - Examples of cheesy names
I'f you would notice, The names EA gives there worlds are very cheesy or strait forward. For example: Bridgeport, It use to be a port, and it has a massive bridge. easy, But sometimes we don't realize this, which makes it better to choose names.
Alot of people think too deep into making names (like me) and try to think of something creative but the most sucssesful city's are in fact the most easiest of names. New york was just a group of people who where home sick from york in england and decided to name there town "New york" making them feel less home sick.
An easier way of making a name for your world is to look at the the land. back to the Bridgeport example, they have a massive bridge, and its a port.
Here is a list of 'name parts' you could use.keep note its only wise to use these if you have or had this in your world. Unless its a play on words.

(kind of a bump) Okay i finished, Feel free to use this guide to your advantage and post if I missed anything or your ideas I could possible add to the list.
Matthew, out. I'm going to go have me self some Pie.
Here's a list of all the names of each of the worlds I have created so far.
1 KELLOG ISLAND - named after the cereal, but with the word Island added, becouse it was well an Island.
2 LAS MONTAÑAS ROJAS - Spanish for the Red Mountains. Its a desert cowboy town.
3 AUTUMN LEAVES - A small town in the Autumn. Its supposed to be in early October. There's some Halloween as well as some general autumn themed decor. Lots of fall colors
4 JUSTINBURG - A small city named after someone I know.
And the world I'm currently working on right now.
5 NORTON - Its named after the anti virus software.
When I made Sunrise Hills I debated many names before I came to what I thought was an obvious one.
I use the Sunset Valley Lite map and re-did many, many things so much so that it became almost the opposite of what it had been before. It had been retro and dated and I made it contemporary. It lacked things I added, etc.
So I played on the differences and went with "opposite" . . . my world is named Sunrise Hills as opposed to Sunset Valley.
It still has Valleys AND Hills and the sun still sets and rises again every day. But the name reminds me that it is totally different from the original while still being similar in that it was based off that town and its residents

My second world was going to be an island so I mulled this one over a lot more. Finally I looked down at it one day and saw that the huge rock structure in the center looked kind of like a turtle if you were looking from the correct angle.
I also happen to LOVE sea turtles as I swam with them when I was snorkeling in Maui. So it became clear it would have to be called Turtle Island. But I wanted something a little more exotic so I went with the Polynesian version, which "Penyu Pulau."

Maybe my thought processes will help someone else too as they search for their world name.
Thanks, OP, for starting what could become a very interesting thread.

hey, I have Norton.
this is good but I don't really want to put up on the thread "USE THESE NAMES!" because RFLong will get confused when putting the worlds into the index
I'm looking for more of name parts, like hills and sea. sea hills. sea what i mean?
Like shore river lake and mountain? My old world was named Mapa Lake Which is spanglish for 'Map' lake. I like the Idea of using name parts to describe the world
When I had to create a name for a world.. I used Google Translate to help.. I came up with a list of my favourite words like love, peace, cherry, strawberry, blossoms, flowers, etc and had a look at what they were in different languages.
For example.. Cherry Blossom is of course Sakura in Japanese, but also I saw what is was in Chinese its Yinghua.
yea, i noticed that. I was going to name my world cherry tree vally, aka in japanese sakuradani valley. But I didn't like the sound of it so im probablygoing to stick with what i have, matsubayashi Valley also known as Pine forest valley
