Video Card.. Please help.

Since i have a Dell Dimension 3100, which does not have a PCI-E/Agp x16 slot, i can only purchase a video card which is PCI?

Would a XFX GeForce Fx53200 256Mb DDR PCI DVi-Ivo (with pixel shader support 2.0) be sufficient??

Thankyou in advance for any replies

A quick check and I think your motherboard has a PCIe slot. If it does all you need to do is install the card and install the drivers. Time to open the case and see what you have.

Thanks for the reply. But know for sure, no Pci-e slot unfortunately.. Pc shop said aswell. But do you know if the GeForce Fx5200 card would work with the sims3? As i know it works with my computer.

    Thanks again

If you look at the box, it is not on the list of supported cards.

I suspect you will have problems.

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run
comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in
vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some
GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

Per the readme included with the game so, those cards are not adviseable.

So does this mean Geforce fx series will not with sims3? Sorry for my lack of knowledge..

You need at least a 6200 series Nvidia card. Probably because of shaders and textures handling of the card.

It means the FX series might work under VISTA but may not, and EA will offer no help if it doesn't.
