Yes! I do, my card is on the supported list and still has this problem so ya know .. they could have at least posted specs earlier so people could upgrade if possible. I wouldn't have had the money to so this EP coming out you kind of hope it will work. Bottom line: I'm with you! Even though a patch is coming out, so they say.. :p

I've literally had no issues so far (fingers crossed). Everything's working perfectly, my horses work, the hunting skills work, there's not deformities - everything's fine. I've not found a unicorn yet so no comment on that but yeah - Pets is great for me!

I deeply sympathise with you but EA will not be fixing this. They are probably going to rectify the transparent/non-fluffy fur issues but the highly deformed pets are graphical problems. There have been many threads about this, but the bottom line is that it is probably caused by your graphics card, I'm afraid. Have you updated your drivers? Do this, as well as remove all mods/CC. Sorry if you've tried that already, but these have been fixes for some people. I really feel for all of you, as my graphics card is getting old and may not be able to support further expansions (even though it works for Pets currently) and I'd be very frustrated if I couldn't play my game properly. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in most cases, getting a new graphics card will be the only solution.

How do you know there will be no fix, do you work for EA, if not could you post me to the link that confirms this or stop repeating this non EA statement. I want to hear from EA.

No I do not work for EA. In the majority of cases, the graphics card of the user is not optimal for running The Sims 3 or is low-end compared to cards that run the game WELL. As you may notice, I used the term majority. There are a few cases where the graphics card is good, but isn't running the game properly and is causing the issue. I'm not an expert so I cannot go into more detail. But, there are a lot of users on these boards who know a lot more than I do and are trying to explain what these problems are being caused by. I saw you ask the same question you asked me to another Simmer on a different board who clearly had knowledge of the subject. Please put your frustration about the game issues aside, the community are working to help people with these problems, not hinder them. I honestly do understand your annoyance as I have had problems with TS3 before. They have been fixed now, due to the kind help of others on the board.

Edit: Forgot to add, EA have not confirmed anywhere that they will be patching the problem. The only thing I've seen is some random email from a tech support guy saying they're bringing out A patch in two weeks.

I'm not trying to be mean or spoil anyone's fun, guys, I just don't want people clinging onto false hope, and getting disappointed when this supposed patch doesn't fix their game. I know how that feels. The specs on the Pets box are incorrect, they haven't been updated since base game. Lots of cards that just about ran the game before can't handle it anymore. I do believe EA should've been more open with this, but it's all about the money and that would've made them lose sales. Meh. I feel so sorry for everyone with the issue and I hope that you can come to a solution.

I had a problem with my cats/dogs having really bugged out eyes, like this:

Also, any super fluffy pet didn't appear correctly; it was like there was a ghost of a shadow of the fur that was supposed to be there, but it wasn't.

I turned on "advanced rendering" and now my pets look fine:

screenshot_original.jpg

screenshot_original.jpg

So it might be the card, or it might be the settings you've got in your game...I know people are having different issues of pet disfigurement, but in my case, it was solved by turning on advanced rendering.

Now my game lags, but what can you do.... :|

Your second picture is adorable
I had a similar fur issue to you, I fixed mine by updating my graphics driver though, as advanced rendering was already on.
A third thing that might cause the problem is computer and card specs not matching up. I really don't know much about this, just something I've heard of, but from what I understand it is like putting an amazing card into a not-so-good computer and still having issues.

I have the pet deform issue, and my graphic card is supported by pets. I'm getting tired of people saying that its my graphics card. If my graphics card wasn't supported, then EA should have taken it OFF of the list! I mean, really. And don't anyone say, "Well, they'll probably update it. It's still your fault for buying it blahblahblah," I've been seeing that a lot everywhere, too. AGAIN: IF MY GRAPHIC CARD WASN'T SUPPORTED, EA SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT OFF OF THE LIST BEFORE THEY RELEASED PETS. It's as simple as that...

OK, rant over. Just had to get that out of my system, I apologize in advance if I have offended anybody. :) Now, I talked to EA tech support, and the guy said that if it was my graphic card, then the whole game would be screwed, not just the pets. So he told me to hold on, because they are making a patch for it. And I've seen a lot of other people report that EA has said that there will be a patch. SO, although I have doubts with this, lets all hope they fix this problem! :D

I think EA WILL lose a lot of money because of this fiasco. The fact that they conveniently forgot to mention the new graphics card requirements will cost them the customers' trust. I have long learned to never preorder a new EP, heck, not to even buy it on the release date simply because I'd rather wait and see what other simmers write about it before I risk infecting my already glitchy game. I'm amost certain that if they don't end up patching Pets in such a way that the majority of people who have had problems will be once again able to play, the sales of the next EP, regardless how awesome they make it out to be, will definitively drop. It's not fair that they didn't inform us of this graphics change. I also think it's not fair that they introduced these new requirements mid series. I mean, EA must be aware that many of their customers will not go out and buy new equipment in order to be able to play one game.

QUESTION: Does anyone know how to turn on advanced rendering? And how do I update my card? Sorry for the questions, but I'd really appreciate some help with this  :)

Quote form another post
Not read the whole thread, cause I'm kind a sick of them but I say it again:

There are different graphical issues. At least 5 of them.

The completely deformed pet and ANY of these four cards/chipsets

- Intel G33/G31 Express Chipset
- Nvidia GeForce 6200 (was supported but only barley)
- Nvidia GeForce 6150SE
- ATI Radeon Xpress 1250

EA will most likely NOT patch that. Those cards/chipssets are not supported.

If you have the fur issue (blocky/see-through/no fur) - that's a different story and I believe that's what EA is working on.

If you have stretched animals, that's the same glitch as the one with toddlers stretching while watching TV. Please post in my bug thread, answering the questions in the second post concerning the issue. It may also be a mod, so make sure to remove those.

Yes, some of the newer cards are not on the list, EA has not updated the list since 2009, but IF your card was out 2009 AND it's not on the list, it's not supported. I have a Nvidia GeForce 550Ti (which is not on the list, but newer) and except a very thin white line around the pets, I have no graphical issues but I do limit my FPS to be on the safe side.

@Tojax: Advanced rendering can be found in your graphic option in the game. Just put the check mark. To update your drivers, go to the website of your graphic card manufacturer and download the newest one for your model. Then simply install.

Advanced Rendering: Go under "Options," where you tweak your game settings, and place a check in the box marked "Advanced Rendering."

Update drivers: Go to the website of whoever is the manufacturer of your graphics card, and search around for "driver updates." Every manufacturer is going to be different, but it shouldn't be too hard to find on their main page. I have an nVidia card, and I found it easily on their website.

Good luck! :-)

i completely agree with you.
i only have the base game installed and since the latest update my sims look completely messed up. iv read posts saying its because they no longer support certain cards and what not.
well i bought the game and it was working ...i should be able to have confidence that they wont suddenly decide "oh we will no longer support that" :|
if they dont fix this issue im done with sims, its as simple as that. iv only recently bought my macbook air and when i first started playing sims on it ran perfectly fine ....and since they have updated it ...its stopped working.
i wont be buying another computer just to play a game which up until the update worked fine.

i hope they do fix it *sigh*

notice theres no other graphical problems except the sims ...this has only happened since the update.

The box's specs are wrong wrong wrong. It's awful, to be honest. I find it very sneaky as clearly they did not want to lose sales by saying that you now need a better card to run Pets. And the representative I believe to be wrong as well. Everything would be messed up if your card was DEFECTIVE. But of course only the pets would be deformed if it was an issue with the graphics card not being able to handle them. Grr, such useless customer service

With only the base game, it's not very much fuss to uninstall it and install again from scratch, without adding the patch.

Just backup yopur userdata, and put them back in when you are done. Btw, might need to be the version of userdata that you backed up before adding the patch, or it might not work.

Your not pointing out to me but, yes! It sucks really! I don't even bother modifying my pets's body shape or headshape because whats the use? I won't be able to see the changes

Yeah, same question for anyone it's cool :D It sucks! I tried to edit a dog to look like my bunny but I gave up in the end. The only animal that looks half decent is an elder horse. But given the type of problem, I reckon a simple messing with codes or a hopeful patch could easily clear it. Mine's an Intel G33 and IS listed on the Sims 3 Pets box, I saw today. So hopefully people who are listed get help, otherwise it's misleading and unfair! But for now, I'm just laughing at the funny things. Good thing I won't be ordering the game for a while!

Its funny, I do not have issues with creating horses or adopting wild horses/ unicorns, or even the cats. The animals running around my town as wildlife or strays look fine.

BUT.. when I go in to change my adopted cat she becomes all funky looking. Stretched out & whatnot.

So I know that in my case at least its not my laptops card, it has to be something else as I can edit my adopted horses/unicorn with no issue.

Heres to hoping that whatever is the issue in many cases can be fixed. But then again with so many different computer configurations it may be something that can never be resolved for everyone. (crosses fingers)
