Apple don't need to do this because Macs have the ability to run Windows - you just need to buy a copy of XP/Vista/7 etc.
I realize that Windows can be run on a Mac but Mac users shouldn't have to buy a copy of Windows just to be able to use C-A-W. Even if everyone was privileged enough to be able to afford it, it shouldn't be necessary.

Mac doesn't support the .net framework which would be the first step in making a cross-compatible version of C-A-W. The lack of support for that framework has given Sims players grief for a number of years because so many tools for TS2 and TS3 are created on it.

It's not a case of being "privileged enough to be able to afford it".

Why should Apple support the .net framework? Surely EA should offer a Mac version of CAW? Which is the point of this thread?

I have been a Sims player since day one over 10 years ago, always on a Mac. Having to wait for Aspyr to port the game and EPs was annoying but when you buy a Mac you know (or at least should do) that not all available software on Windows will be available on a Mac. That's just the way it is.

I've been considering (partly because there are other games I'd like to play) to buy a pc just so I could use CAW and while I was at Futureshop yesterday they said I now have to buy the operating system separately from the laptop. I'd much rather CAW come out for mac then spend 5-600 dollars on a freaking pc that won't last very long anyways >_>

    *sigh* :(

Wow, N3mb3r, that is really...lame of EA, and calling them "lame" is being way too kind. Also, why would EA have to rebuild the tool from scratch? The game runs through Cider; there's no Mac—native code involved. What would prevent EA from running CAW through Cider as well; I smell a rat.

I hate to be the one to bring the bad news. But there is more i think to it then that. I will try playing with Cider and maybe i can get it to work.

I personally don't use a Mac the majority of my time, though I do own one. Mac users are very creative and I strongly believe they would release some amazing worlds. They are hardworking dedicated artists, most of them anyways.

I'm hoping to get to play with CAW if I can get it to run on my late FIL's old Dell laptop (not sure if it's powerful enough for it, and it doesn't have a wireless card so I have to pick up a USB adapter this weekend), but I'd much rather be able to have the larger real estate from my desktop iMac. I think with more people having access to the tool, the community will get more and better worlds; most of the ones I've looked at have been pretty lame (though I'm impressed with the work being done on the future Oahu).

Although I'm a bit late seeing this after shifting from PC.
It's all good I'm playing on Mac but frustrated to get CAW to work with it without emulators needed.
