Matz, no pink, blue, purple new information here, but a big thanks to Auntielynds for putting all this stuff together in one thread (which should be stickied). This is the stuff of bookmark legend.
2. Pick a pre-existing texture from your Source Textures File. If you want pink grass, get a grass texture you like. Choose something that's not too dark.
3. Drag and drop this into gimp. you get a pop up like this, un-check the Load mipmaps box.
4. Click on "Colors" on the menu bar, and the "Hue-Saturation"
5. Now you get this pop up and you just mess around with the sliders.
6. Under "File" click on "Save as", and name it, and click "Save".
7. Then just save with these options, and your done.
At this point I always do another "Save as" and save it as a jpeg. now when you are looking for your textures, you can see them.
i love you stuff, really cool
theres a downside though haha, im so wanting that eruption thingy but like im so tired of reading all the stuff on MTS lol
OMG i just realised the simmer who created that is here! i love you , you made something i need but can get lol!
im going to download it eventually!
hahaha just realised ive already been on this! lol

Ive been tring to download the ice age pack 1 and it wont work I ve downloaded other things terrains paints but this time it wont work. I think it wont work because its a package :!: sorry if that was confusing I just really need those terrain paints!
It's in a .zip file So, you need to un zip it. Is that what you're having troubles with, or You could be trying to download the wrong stuff. He's got links farther up the page that go to sims 2 terrain paints he based these on. Go to the bottom of the page and click on those links.
I first downloaded the 9.15 beta, 64 bit, but It didn't seem to work, so I downloaded the 4.65 32 bit, and it works fine. I run vista on one PC, and 7 on the other. Both run this one fine. :-)

If anyone wants to share their textures with all of us Cawsters, you can either start a new thread with your download link, or post here, and I'll pop them in the first post. If you start a new thread, make sure you post here to let me know in case I miss your thread.
auntielynds, i remember a while back you posting a link to some underwater textures you came up with, don't suppose you still have the link for those ? since my last pc format iv lost all the textures on my desktop, must remember the D drive!
Drowsapp, I did not see your post about the water textures. I'll upload them and put a link on the first page in case you still need them.
Here they are. The two plain blue ones you can use for waterfalls, or I use the dark blue one with a low opacity to blend the color of a lot placed into the water. http://www.mediafire.com/?233w9u3x7l7u0ag
When you download click on save and then download them where you can find them.
Okay now you have your files downloaded I will walk you through putting them into your game. I'll write this for beginners like I was just a few months ago.
Find your files and then open up Windows Explorer.
On the left hand side under Folders, go down to Documents,
then to Electronic Arts,
then to The Sims 3 Create A World,
then to UserToolData.
then click on SourceTextures.
Now just drag and drop the new .dds files into the SourceTextures file.
Make Your Own Textures
If you would like to try your hand at making your own textures here is a link: The Easy Way to Create Terrain Textures or here is a quick tutorial:
2. Pick a pre-existing texture from your Source Textures File. If you want pink grass, get a grass texture you like. Choose something that's not too dark.

At this point I always do another "Save as" and save it as a jpeg. now when you are looking for your textures, you can see them.
You can also get your own new textures. Google "Free Seamless Textures" and you'll get a bunch of different sites with interesting textures. Just make sure they are cropped to 1024x1024, or 512x512. You'll lose some detail in the texture if they are 512, but for some textures you only use to highlight it's better to have them at the 512, they are a much smaller file size, which will help lower you're overall world file size.
Thanks Auntielynds, the new ice and snow textures are really useful and look terrific. They make me want to add some snow and ice to my tropical island, I won`t though, but it`s tempting!
Thanks for sharing
Quick Question: I really hope this isn't one of those 'always asked' questions... but I recently downloaded the textures into the 'SourceTextures' file and they work perfectly fine in CaW ... but when I go into 'Edit in Game' Mode.. it doesn't look quite as nice. Haha, For instance, I have two textures sort of overlapping in one area and in 'Edit in Game' only one texture is showing while the other has turned into this ugly pale brown... wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong? Should I not over lap textures? Really hate to be a pest. Thanks!!
I don’t remember who but someone on MTS discovered that you can fix this issue by painting some of the default green grass somewhere in your world (even a little patch under the sea). Dunno why it happens or even if its been fixed by a patch but the grass thing seems to work.
... it seems EA's tool is more advanced than ours, because the water seems to be on two different levels
Simsample at MTS uploaded the water files here. I think they’re still in the process of trying to figure out a way to make them more user-friendly but if you don’t mind fiddling around you can have multiple water layers in your world.
This is a really great resource! Thank you so much! Small note - the Bog Sim Institute links are broken. I think they may have removed the files, I couldn't find them searching the site. Anyone know of some train track terrain paint? Thanks again, this thread is fantastic!
