sims 3 and sims medieval question

since I don't see a forum up for sims medieval, and since this question also pertains to sims 3, I thought I would post it here:
Does anyone know if the sims medieval's release will come in place of another sims 3 expansion pack? I know most EP's come out every 5 or 6 months, and was wondering if Medieval was gonna push that back or not.
Very excited about the new game, but this question has been on my mind. Basically, I wondering if the sims team time and resources would only be able to be spent on one game at a time. Sorry if my question is too early or confusing.
