Thanks for this thread, just logged on to see all of my old posts on my account are gone. Makes me scared for what they will do with the sims 3 community website. I'm gonna go download all of my old files now after this post. My favorite part was being able to see all of the "What would you add to the sims" comments I would make and now laughing at how still, none of them have been implemented. I also loved the community I built around sims 3 home builds. I had my own line of homes I built and would love to visit the simsinteriordesigns.com website and request/download fun modern builds. Its so sad to say goodbye to this forum and makes no sense that they are deleting it in favor of "EA forums", people are still active on here (myself included but now on a new account). Its very sad. :'(

I have been playing The Sims since 2001, when Livin Large came out. My avatar deliberately looks like Chris Roomies from TS1.

No regrets! And very glad I stubbornly stayed here in 2014-15-16 when it would have been very easy to never, ever be a Sims 4 fan here again. Big hugs to the rest of the little group of people who were part of my mutual not-giving-up team - <3 you all. The Forums really did turn into a comfy place to be in the end. I hope the new ones start off just the same :)

@luthienrising I wasn't here for those rough times. I became active only two years ago, but this community is full of wonderful simmers and that core is moving over to the new forum. The new place will look different but I know it will still feel the same.

The forums have been terrific and I have met lots of wonderful simmers on here and got lots of advice. I also wrote a story or two and posted it here. I am somewhat nervous about dealing with a new forum because back when I started I didn't even know how to post a photo on here. There was one particular story that I wrote that I have fond memories about, and when the new forums launch, I will be starting a sims legacy with these two sims. They had met randomly in my story, and I wanted to test out the theory if they were meant to be in another save. So, I started from scratch with my sim as a teen in high school, and sure enough, they were drawn to each other again without me ever controlling the other sim. Talk about sim destiny. lol

There are not many posts from The Sims 3 simmers here yet. My biggest regret is not meeting all of you sooner. I will miss those who are no longer active on these forums.

What saddens me the most is losing all of the wonderful and helpful discussions from those who are no longer active or those who don't have a presence on the EA Forums. So much knowledge and wisdom will be lost, and it would take more than four months to comb through these forums to find those rare gems and recreate them, even if everyone active today worked nonstop on them.

I wish there were some way for these recommended discussions to be saved. I don't even know where to begin to look. I know the text can be archived, but I don't know how to ensure a specific discussion is saved for all time.

One regret I have is to being often absent from the forums, even if I joined back in 2013. But I also have longer Sims breaks in general, so I usually only use the forums when I'm also playing.

I have been on these forums since Sims2. I've always had the same username, handle, identity marker, whatever you wish to call it. Since we're not moving due to a new iteration, which has been my experience, then I am expecting a peaceful move. Inasmuch as we shouldn't be divided over which Sims is the best one.

As for my memories, one of my fondest memories dates back to Sims3. I didn't use mods prior to Sims3. At that time I played vanilla, still. I lost Erik (yes, the very same Erik I'm playing now) and his bride. You see, being the Superstar he was, he took his bride on a nice Honeymoon to one of the worlds that came with World Adventures. (Loved that pack.) However, when it came time for them to return to Sunset Valley, they didn't return home. The game seemed to keep them where they were. I can't recall now, if the game crashed, or just what it was, but no matter what I tried, I had lost Erik.

I put up a thread about it. To my surprise and delight Twallen, who created the NRaas website, answered my thread. He invited me to try out one of his mods that he developed to overcome this problem. Seems that pack didn't play nice with other packs. This would retrieve, safely, my stuck Sims.

I beefed up my game, quickly, with any number of his mods to resolve problems with that game. I had about 20, maybe more. Me, who was afraid to do anything with Boolprop!

Another memory I have is when a few other players on these forums were very kind to tell me there was a way for Erik to have his music recognized and possibly rewarded with a Best Song award. This after a good couple of years of playing him and not even once being recognized. (Honestly, I think that's why I'm letting him win so often. --- Making up for the lost time, or something.)

I don't have a single regret about my time on the forum. I joined almost as soon as I rediscovered The Sims, and began connecting with the wonderful people who hang out here.

I can't name a single favorite memory right now. Instead, I'm thinking about the emotions I've experienced here. Anyone who knows me would tell you that my emotions run big. I've laughed here until I've cried and I've also felt real tears over the stories some of you have written. I've also experienced a full range of emotions over the pieces of your lives you've shared with us here.

Even if I didn't post for weeks, I've known this forum has been here. Not long ago, one of you expressed the opinion that this is the best and healthiest community on the internet. I won't argue; it's certainly the warmest one I've experienced online.

I hope we can recreate it on the new forum. :)

Regrets? No, not really. The most important thing (to me) that I have done on the forum is my story telling posts. There are no major regrets there. If I could go back in time and do it again, I would have done it the excact same way.* Of course, I may have revised the posts to improve the writing, but other than that... no changes. My story telling, even if it isn't always top quality, is my creative product and it's going to be as it is. As it was meant to be on the time of publishing...
    * Well, come to think of it, there is one early chapter in 'The People of Simbria' story that I never finished/decided to pull back and not re-post on my blog after I started that one. So there is one regret. I suppose it would be strange if I went here completely without any of them.

Fondest memory? I'm not really sure. The best part of being a member here happened in the beginning when I was surprised by how welcomed I felt, because I don't trust people and always have low expectations. I don't remember why I joined (probably to ask a stupid question), but I stayed to read and share updates about peoples game stories.

Maybe I could have participated more in friendly chat outside of that, but I'm just not a very social guy....

Taking a cautious approach. Will very much miss these forums. So many great discussions, help when ran into difficulties, friends made - some of whom maintain contact will off the site, new things learned, and so much more. My fear is that we will become a forgotten corner in the EA empire, whereas here we are an integral part of the Sims world.

When I see my data, I became a member of this Forum in June 2009. However, I only became a regular participant in 2019. I do not regret it because I was a regular user of the Danish Sims4 Forum until it was closed in 2018.
Once I had overcome the sadness and frustration of the lost community, I gradually began to participate in the English Forum. Google translate became my savior in being able to communicate.
I have especially enjoyed the community around Simlit stories and it became a life saver during the Covid19 shutdowns. It expanded my world and opened up a new network of writers. It's a community I still value very much.
I love the generally friendly and welcoming tone of this Forum.
With one Forum shutdown in the memories, however, I am quite hopeful about the transition to a new EA Sims Forum. The whole process around this Forum closure has been extremely gentle and caring due to @EA_Cade and the team's openness and returning informations.
Thanks to all of you for now. <3

    No regrets.

I posted a lot of ideas these last 10 years and many of them were included in the game, I couldn't expect better than that.
I never reached that level with The Sims 2/3 & TS2 BBS/TS3 Forums.

It was nice to speculate about the future and post polls.

Probably the only time of my life that I post over 15k comments.

It may not exactly be a regret, but unfortunately I am not as hopeful about the transition as I was 10 days ago. It requires some major rebuilding of the EA side structure.
But you should never say never 🤨

I have a feeling that it's going to be read only for about as long as they gave us to move to the new forum. It makes no sense to keep it as read only.

Knowing how this thread looks like on the new forums, I'm beginning to regret loving spoiler tags a little...
Edit. I think a better example is this to this.

I hope that gets improved soon...

    We're near the end!

I don't regret a moment of the time I spent reading and posting here. Many of you would probably agree that this forum is a rare place: an internet community where civility, acceptance, and good humor are more than guidelines. Here, they've been real. We've walked that walk.

The good news is that we can bring those qualities with us to the new forum. Unlike my avatar, they can move with us. :)
