Is there no off-topic section on the new forums? Somehow I managed to find one of the forum game threads (link). Do I really need to scroll through nearly 15,000 comments to find the most recent posts? Unless I'm missing something, the way it is now makes it impossible to play forum games on the new site like on this one. Usually I'm rather tech-savvy, but the new format and design has me seriously confused. On Answer HQ at least you can scroll back and forth between pages and posts.
@Kendrana This button here allows you to sort to newest.

That button is great, but when a thread advances quickly and gets lots of replies, it is actually helpful to have a set-up like we have on this forum, and clicking on a thread takes you to last read post. Otherwise, you need to scroll back and back and try to find where you left off can be difficult, especially when you can't even tell where you are on the thread as there is no page number anymore either.

@EA_Cade Will a spoiler tag option be added to the reply text box? Don't really like posting a picture heavy comment that could make the page lag or jump like crazy

Unfortunately, it's even worse than that because replies to replies (like rosemow's "great to see you" response) are nested under the original reply. Those don't show up when you click "newest." So it is possible, even likely, to have a bunch of unread nested replies to an older comment which has be buried.

@TECHSPERT50: Thank you so much for your help. That definitely makes it easier. I agree with @crocobaura that being able to go back to the last comment you read and scrolling from page to page would be extremely useful.
The new forum is supposedly in the "soft-launch phase," which usually means they're still in the process of gathering our feedback and testing the site themselves. It could just be wishful thinking, but it's possible they'll make it easier to navigate whenever the full-scale launch occurs.
I don't post very often outside of the off-topic section, but I have noticed that @EA_Cade has been very diligent to respond to questions and concerns, which is very commendable. As the community manager, he will likely be forwarding our feedback to the other EA staff as much as possible.
Unfortunately that button puts things in reverse chronological order. I would like an option to put things in chronological order and then jump straight to the posts I haven't read yet.
It's like if you have a book and your only options are start at the beginning and read forwards, or start at the end and read backwards. You have no option to start where you left off last time and continue reading forward.
I just decided not to try and continue the first run. With the images and video links stripped, it's not the same. I have rebooted the Blue Moon over on the new forum, if anyone wants to help revive it.
Just popped over for a look. I like the look but I will have to get used to it though.
I am on my phone heading home from work so I haven't checked it out on my PC yet. But I like the look on the phone, albeit will take some getting used to.

Honestly, I don't like and I'm not comfortable with the new forums. I don't know if it is because I don't like change or if it is because I don't like the layout. Maybe it is both. Like others have said, it looks too much like AHQ. It is sad that we can't upload our own avatars. The badges are gone, which is sad. I see newcomer next to simmer's name that have been on the forums for years. I feel that the new forums should recognize "acient members".
I guess we will just have to get use to it.
PLEASE FIX TEENS IN TS4! I NEED YOUNGER TEENS NOT YA TEENS! (^_^)Please add Music Bands with lead singers! Please add vehicles and garages! Vehicles have always been part of The Sims.
Instead of the default order of posts being "Most likes", can it be "newest"? It's going to get very tedious having to change it all the time.
Instead of reading from the bottom of the page to the top to read in order, can we read from top to bottom, including all replies? It's difficult to join in on the banter when navigation is so counter-intuitive.
The one thing I love though, is not needing an external site to post pics. That will help me join in a lot more - if I can learn to navigate without feeling completely lost.
But what I don't see anymore is the off topic section where the game threads would normally be.

I find the new forum very cluttered, in a way that makes it feel unpleasant to me.
The main reasons are:
-too many things on the screen (especially the side panel on the right needs a way to be hidden from view)
-the main panel is shoved to the left (off center, making it feel uncomfortable to read)
-the lists of threads have lengthy snippets that make make the whole thing feel overwhelming and cluttered to me. It gives me that off-putting "wall of text" feeling that makes me want to just leave.
Old forum, list of threads is centered. There is nothing else on the page besides the list. The list is just titles, so many titles fit on the screen, and it is easy to read what the titles are.
New forum, list of titles is shoved to the left side of the screen because of the unnecessary panel of tags and highlights and featured stuff that I don't even want to see when I am looking at the list of threads in this category. And each thread has a lengthy snippet that makes it so I can only see a couple titles at a time, and I also just feel off-put by how much text there is.
The same problems occur even when reading just one thread.
Old forum, nice and clean, centered, just the thread I'm reading.
New forum, cluttered and off-centered.
For me, it feels unpleasant and makes me not want to stay and try to read anything. I feel overwhelmed by sensory input, and just generally uncomfortable. We need some options to hide the side panel, hide the snippets, and to make the main thread or category list centered in the screen. Different people will probably have different preferences, so it would be nice if these options could be personalization settings for our own accounts.
@EA_Cade fonts on new forums is kind of small. I made it bigger but still going crossed eyed reading it.
Also no where to bookmark favorite threads. Plus no home page for us?
And bbc codes for images not working. CAn't post a profile photo. Other than that, looks great.
PLEASE FIX TEENS IN TS4! I NEED YOUNGER TEENS NOT YA TEENS! (^_^)Please add Music Bands with lead singers! Please add vehicles and garages! Vehicles have always been part of The Sims.
I want to give these new forums a chance because the option of staying here isn't one we have, and it's the community that makes these forums good. But the more I read and see about these new ones, the less I like them. And yes, that makes me sad and disappointed. @EA_Cade, I know this is not your call, but it is disappointing and frustrating and some of us need to vent that frustration at someone who can take it to those in charge. And fact is, someone at EA, most likely several someones, migrated the posts, realised the images didn't work, and then decided it was too much work and it would be fine anyway. It's not fine!!!! It's very, very, far from fine. And I feel that it's quite fair for us who has spent weeks and months and sometimes years on creating our stories and threads to be angry about it. Te solution should not be "fix it yourself!" That's just rude!
We are also several who has now posted about our inability to edit posts - that it just doesn't work. Yet I do not see one comment on this thread addressing this. Why has there not been a single comment to address this very serious issue?
These forums will be dead in the water unless some of these issues are addressed. I am currently wondering where to continue my Whittaker Saga, because if I can't even edit a post on the forums, why would I be there?
Other things I dislike:
"Was this the solution"-button. These are not mainly question and answer forums. Remove it.
That the threads are not in chronological order
That I cannot just jump to the last unread reply in a thread
The sidebar (just no! It feels like I'm getting commercials in the forum!)
No avatars
The fact that I have to log in every single time I go to the page and that it brings me back to the main page with all other forums instead of just bringing me to the sims forum at once.
I like others has an issue with change, but this is not just about change, this is about the lack of basic functionality. I feel as if we went from a scrapbook where our creativity set the boundries to a notebook in which all the lines are predefined.
Moreover, I advise that the cart button must be destroyed!
