It’s starting to really sink in. This forum has been my favorite place to go to everyday. I’d be lost without it. But I can’t wait to see the new forum and to make it my new favorite place to go and have fun with my amazing friends.❤️
Oh also: Can we change our profile picture to picture of our own on new forums or am I doomed to being particular picture of Vlad like in Answers HQ?

It may just be wishful thinking, but this comment makes me wonder if there will be more customization options for avatars than anyone (outside of EA) knows about right now. His response is obviously in reference to whether or not we'll be able to use our own created avatar, but hopefully that also means we aren't going to be restricted to small, circular avatars like you see on most sites these days. I agree with others who have said that square avatars are much better. A lot of people here have an amazing talent for creating unique and detailed avatars, so it would be sad if we aren't able to do that anymore.
I'm a bit nervous about this move. Excited, but nervous. Also.. not sure how I feel about the avatars.. because they're incredibly small compared to the ones we have here. I don't mind the circle style, just. Feel like you can barely see them. Hope this changes, but it possibly won't. I do lurk these forums a lot and enjoy seeing everyone's pictures/game-play and seeing how others play, so I'm excited for the new forums.. and hope there's a lot more activity again once we move.
While the new forums is available tomorrow, remember that it's a soft launch. So these forums will be up still. So, anything that didn't get carried over you can get them over there easily.
The new forums use the Markdown language. Those familiar with Discord are familiar with that too.
These forums will be up for some days, then it'll become read-only for some time (meaning you cannot post here).
Please note that the following has the potential to change depending on the status of the EA Forums soft launch. Should anything below change, I am very close to the team handling this and will let you know ASAP.
As it stands currently, we are planning to soft launch the new EA Forums site on July 15th. Once those forums are up and running I'll post a link to them here in this thread and as a site alert (like you get for Friday Highlights, Laundry Lists and Patch Notes) so it isn't missed.
A few days after the EA Forums soft launch we will make this site read-only, soon afterwards (a few days/weeks depending on how things look) we will implement a redirect to the new EA Forums for players who attempt to visit this site.
So yeah, good news, you don't have to save your posts to your computer.

Yeah, the best part about a square avatar is that you can fit a circle inside no problem. The other way 'round is possible, but it doesn't make sense from a creative point of view. Who wants to downsize? Only people that enjoy embroidery usually "paint" inside of circles. There's nothing wrong with that, but most of us are the kind of painters that love a good square to splish our splash on.
The way our current avatars are structured is also great in that it supports the PNG format. The PNG format supports alpha channels (basically transparent backgrounds) which means that you can sort of play around with shapes and colours within an invisible "square" canvas. That shape could be a circle, a plumbob, or simply the silhouette of a giraffe. So much fun. I've done it all folks. I've done it all.
Circles are wonderful, absolutely, but terrible for avatars. X, Google, Discord, etcetera, absolutely terrible. No matter how desirable I look on a picture, circular avatars always warp my head into a Cthulu-like entity. Very dull.
