Same! For my main characters I can sleepwalk through the menu and pick their turn ons/offs and date activities, but the new system will force me to also put some more depth into the less developed couples.
Love the date overhaul where we can set our own activities. With TV and boardgames as options, I can see a situation arise where Rupert, Shawn or Connor think they are on a date with Tina (one of my main sims), whereas for her it's just tuesday.
I love that physical appearances are just one part of the attraction system. I'm really happy to see traits be a turn on/off. One of things that I enjoyed with WonderfulWhims is how it uses things like fashion tastes as something to attract sims. What I really want to see now is if there is weighting for what points of attraction are more important. Are potential partner's looks more important to this sim or do they care more about traits?
I'd love if we could mix and match. I don't really want it where all looks in general are more important than all traits or vice versa. It would be fun to have options where you can say this trait or characteristic is important, neutral, or unimportant. Maybe your sim prefers brunettes but they would attracted to a redhead if they had a particular trait or hobby. I can't wait learn more.
Yeah, between this and the stuff they showed about relationship maintenance, this is really going to change romance gameplay. Also, I have so many Sims to go give preferences to
The maintenance part is really exciting. I can't wait to see what my sims might do autonomously to keep the romance alive. This is coming along at a great time. I don't have all that many sims to give preferences to. I was going to do a reboot of my favorite simlit story but I decided to wait until after this pack releases and I have a chance to try it out. I only have a little over a dozen sims that I need to set preferences for.🙂
I'm happy with the kettle bell and dumbbell rack 😃 Perfect for home gyms, so many times I entered bb looking for them to realize we don't have them. Fingercrossed now that they're functional and not just decor, but not getting my hopes up
I just noticed the guy has fingerless gloves. I've been waiting for fingerless gloves (for both hands) for years. Finallyyyyy
I believe those gloves are actually in game already (I've had those for Simmingal) but I'm not sure if you need to unlock something in CAS to see them as i have all cas unlocked for that sim
This is what I'm most looking forward to. I only have one playable unattached sim in my game. She'll be the one looking for the perfect partner. Then I have three couples who are married with children. Between jobs, skilling, ranching, raising families, etc there's not much time left for romance. It might be a challenge to keep the romance satisfaction high.

I like the realism with this part of the gameplay. Your sims can't take their spouses and partners for granted. It adds so many new wrinkles into the gameplay even if romance isn't a big part of your play style.

This isn't new thing. Even now if your sims don't interact in a romantic way for a while, their romance bar will decrease and if neglected for too long you need to woe them over again.

This is a new thing. It isn't just a lack of romantic interactions that will cause their romance bar to drop. With this your sims can lose romance by falling into a relationship rut and performing the same socials over and over again. You can be active and do romantic socials with this system and still have the romance bar drop. You have to find ways to change things up to keep your partners interest and maintain the relationship.🙂

I'm a little afraid of how this might affect rotation players. This is looking like I may need a mod to keep things stable while I'm off playing another world. I hope it only decays when you're actively playing a Sim's household.
I hope the sims in relationships are not going to get upset with each other while I'm playing different household though
that would be pretty disastrous with the amount of households I play
like vlad and judith being upset with each other for not taking each other on dates when the reality is just I have been playing different household for some time and have not had time to visit them for a bit

Really hoping this is this case. I have one couple who lived in separate households for a while. When I moved the husband back in the romance bar was at 0. Took me about 5 minutes of continuous romantic socials to fill the bar. I hope the new system adds a bit more complexity and difficulty.
Honestly, every new system that adds difficulty into the game is threatening my playstyle. :P I hope, like always, that this new mechanic is optional, because I like to have more options in game, but don't like it when the game tells me what to do or otherwise there are consequences, as if I'm playing the wrong way. I never understood the desire for consequences in a sandbox style game. I want to play the story that I imagine in my head and make up my own consequences, not some random mechanic doing that for me.
But other than that I like the new romantic animations like feeding the chocolate fruit or the sweet, shy kiss. They are very cute and innocent looking. Aww and the cuddling in bed and on the rug? How lovely. Also I'm looking forward to some of the new decor and plants.

I really don't see how this is different. The only thing that's new is the date system and a few new social interactions in addition to the ones we already have. I never manage to get sims back into romantic disposition in 5 minutes with the current system but then again, I don't spam the romantic socials continuously.
@crocobaura It feels like spamming romantic socials wouldn’t work after a while. At least not spamming the same ones. It looks like romantic satisfaction rewards sims for finding new ways to show their love.

I think this will slow down how quickly you gain romance. I always disliked how you could go from strangers to soulmates in one date. It makes sense if you’re playing with aging on and normal or short lifespans. For anything else it takes some of the fun out of it. This should add a lot of fun because your sim needs to understand their lover better if they’re after a long term relationship.

Just offering a little personal theory on this, I'd say it's because not everyone wants a complete sandbox, they want a simulator or game challenge. I wouldn't even say that The Sims has always been a sandbox game - certainly in some capacities, like build/buy and CAS - but I kind of look at all of the past games as slightly different from each other. Sims 1 seemed to put more of the "game" into life simulation game, with more difficulty in Sim management. Sims 2 leaned more into "simulation" by adding new system features that affected Sim behaviors according to what they had. Sims 3 expanded the "sandbox" by easing up on some of the Sims 2 features and making more selectable changes and options. Sims 4, however, never really had a solid identity because of the development shift of the game and its incomplete state at release.
So I think what's happening is, EA is trying to please all of these different types of players who request features of previous preferred games, because everyone wants their play style represented. But it's difficult to do that. I don't envy the devs their position in decision-making, lol.
Personally, I love consequences...providing they make sense and are not just attached to features willy nilly for random disruptions. But then, I'm more of a simulation player than a sandbox player. I want to make choices that matter, for better or for worse.

Scarred for life by Mexican wrestlers?
"You see son, your mother and I were just trying out some of the wrestling moves we saw on TV last night."
"Gee dad, you and mom didn't sound anything like the wrestlers did."

Like the blond's hairstyle. Love the other guy's everything. If he's not in the game, I hope they at least put him on the Gallery.
The Sims 4 hasn't introduced a new musical instrument since 2017
