Skills you would want to be added

JadeleineJadeleine Posts: 2,158 Member
Im someone who likes all kind of skills in the game. I think Ceramics skill would be very nice and also doable in the sims game. Ceramics is clay molding that can make mugs, plates, bowls, vases etc. I don´t know if it bossible but this could introduce the possibitily of making a coffee mug/dining set in the game and choose it. For example, your sims makes a pink dining ware set with pottery skill table and chooses it as the household main dining ware.

Anyone else interested in this idea, and do you have idea about spesific skill you would wish to see?

Interesting you all mention pottery - it was on my mind before clicking on the thread and opening it. So yeah, +1 for pottery from me. I'd like a pottery wheel as well as other ways to make it.

I think board games would be a great skill, and would work well with various board games and could include events like board games nights, stuff like that.

The pottery wheel in Sims 2 was great.

I think they could do some cool stuff with this, make it so sims can create a selection of different shape objects, but let us colour and paint them however we like so they're all unique. That would give us room to be more creative than we have with previous craftable objects, and make unique things to put in our builds and share on the gallery.

    Skills I'd Like (Alphabetical Order)
    • Archery
    • Acrobat - I'd place this with Amusement Parks/Circuses OR a Las Vegas type pack as a ode to Cirque de Soleil or work it into both
    • Bar Games - Darts, Pool, Shuffleboard, Poker
    • Fencing - I'm a fencer. I'm biased
    • Glassblowing & Stained Glass Work
    • Magician - I'd like this back in a Vegas Pack w/Casinos, Bands, Ownable Hotels, and Theaters
    • Martial Arts - Should have been in the Japan Pack. Just an example of taking two ideas and smushing them together and being Half A** and doing a disservice to both
    • Origami
    • Perfume & Soap Making
    • Pottery & Ceramics
    • Scuba Diving - I believe it should have been included in Island Living WITH Snorkeling then we could have done both making the pack FAR SUPERIOR in my opinion.
    • Sculpting & Statue Making with these Materials
      • Alabaster
      • Bronze
      • Clay
      • Copper
      • Crystal
      • Gold
      • Granite
      • Ice
      • Jade
      • Marble
      • Salvaged Metal
      • Topiary
      • Sand - On Beaches but larger than the ones we currently make
      • Wood
    • Sewing
    • Sketching
    • Weaving

Additional Instruments & Skills that would make Sims 4 better and give the opportunity for great bands/musical ensembles
    • Cello
    • Drums
    • Harmonica
    • Harp
    • Saxophone

Additional Dances I would like but don't necessarily have to be a separate skill
    • Argentinean Tango
    • Ballet
    • Hula - Should have been in Island Living
    • Swing - Charleston or Lindy Hop
    • Tap
    • Waltz

Hobbies/Activities I don't think need to be a separate Skill but I'd like to have Anyway
    • Iris/Lily/Tulip/Orchid/Rose Cultivation - To get different varieties and colors. I would like to see Garden Judging & Flower Shows like the Westminster Flower Show. This can be tied to regular gardening, no need for specialized skill just utilizing the skills we already have.
    • Candy/Chocolate Making - It can be tied to cooking it needn't be different
    • Casino Games
    • Bird Watching
    • Model Building - Ships, Planes, Cars, Trains. I'm good with it being tied to Handiness

Skills I think would have been better in the Base Game
    • Baking

Career I totally would love back that shouldn't require an existing skill but SHOULD utilize the existing skill if you have both packs
    • Fortune Teller - Charisma, Medium Skill

Life Skills I wouldn't mind having back
    • Anger Management
    • Cleaning
    • Driving - I'm implying things here
    • Fire Safety
    • Tai Chi

Skill some folks have made a case for but I think the opportunity for it has passed
    • Blacksmithing - It would have been perfect in Horse Ranch.
Why this would have been great
      • This could have added Ferrier service to the Horses which would have been great and added more depth to Horse care.
      • We could have had all kinds of wrought iron and steel items made. We could have had some pretty elaborate gates made.
      • Could have expanded it if Fencing was introduced to make Rapiers and Epees

What we got was Nectar making which makes me sad because we could have had that in Tuscany, Italy or Provence, France or even Napa Valley, California far superior locations in my opinion.

Additional Styles to Existing Skills I would like to see
    • Floral Arranging
      • English
      • Holiday & Seasonal Arrangements especially for Christmas & Halloween
      • Ikebana
      • Leis & Flower Crowns
      • Wedding Bouquets & Centerpieces
Archeology Update - Branches - This skill and Career should get a bit of an update to freshen it and make each category exclusive to a geographic area in order to give it a bit more legs.
      • Archeology of the Americas - North & South, would work well with Jungle Adventure
      • Classical - Greece & Rome
      • Egyptology - Egypt
      • Medieval - Post Rome Europe - Would be good for Cottage Living
      • Polynesian - Island Living
      • Sinology - China

Perhaps Psychology, for lack of a better word. Child sims can attempt mental telepathy, so maybe if a child sim levels up with a maxed out mental skill, they could try more activities relating to the mind as they grow up (deep advice, trying to predoct the future, etc etc.) I just think it'd be a neat concept.

That sounds like psychic abilities. As for skilling, I think skills that work for all ages should be capped so yo can't max it out while in childhood stage. There should be some room left for improvement in later life stages as well.

Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behavior. Its subject matter includes the behavior of humans and nonhumans, both conscious and unconscious phenomena, and mental processes such as thoughts, feelings, and motives. Psychology is an academic discipline of immense scope, crossing the boundaries between the natural and social sciences.

What you are asking for is Psychic Powers

I would like to see singer being trained as an opera singer and do performances at a grand opera houses around the world. That would be the same for a dancer being trained as a ballerina at a ballet school and then go off into the ballet world to perform various ballets like The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Giselle etc.
