Help! Input on new Alienware computer!

My 9-yr old Dell Alienware computer seems to have given up 😔. It crashed last weekend and the tech guy I took it too hasn’t been able to fix it. He’s going to take it to a Dell specialist in town to see whether they’re able to do something. It was running on Windows 7 Pro and has been very good up until now. Hopefully they can at least get all my data from it, otherwise all my screenshots and saves are gone 😢.

My question is, is anyone out there running sims on a Dell Alienware laptop? If so, what model is it, and what kind of memory and processor does it have? I don’t know enough about computers to know what laptop to get next and what would be the best for running Sims.

I used to play Sims and other mmorpgs on a Alienware gaming laptop years ago until 2020. I wouldn't do it again unless I have no other choices. I went back to desktop pc because of the noise, it was built in a local company and still works wonderful. The laptop was very heavy and big, very loud because of the cooling and got very hot. I had a separate graphic card (APX?,I can't remember the name) for a better gaming experience, it worked as intended but that thing was also loud, after installing the laptop booted twice. Sorry that I can't really help you with the specifica. The Sims don't really need an high end product. Here's a link to a list with the recommendation: https://help.ea.com/en/help/the-sims/the-sims-4/the-sims-4-system-requirements/.

I used to use Alienware laptops for portability & gaming anywhere. But I agree that they quite noisy at times. My latest PC is still an Alienware, but it's an Aurora R11 desktop. Much quieter and with the ability to upgrade ram, storage, and video cards much easier than on my laptops.

Thank you @Daravi and @Caerfinon. I honestly haven’t paid much attention to how noisy a laptop is; either that, or I’m so used to it that I tune it out. I did think about getting a desktop one but I really need it to be portable. I’ll have a look at those specs and check them against any computers I look at!

I just went back to a desktop from a laptop 'cos the keyboard got SO HOT, too hot to touch even with a cooling pad under it!

Thank you for that info - that helps a lot when comparing to current laptops. I still haven’t got the old one back - last I heard, they were waiting for a battery up upgrade Bios or something - so I don’t know whether I’m buying a new one or not!
