The Sims uses 1 second of real-time to pass 1 minute of game time. 24 minutes of real-time is a day, or 24 hours of game time at normal speed.
One could argue that Sims 1, 2, and 4 work well with this model due to their closed world and teleporting when traveling to new lots.
Sims 3, being open-world, meant commuting to work and traveling around the neighborhood spent a lot of precious time. If Sims 5 Project Rene is also open-world, then they should try to fix this.
I propose the day length at normal speed is doubled: 2 seconds pass for the in-game clock to go up by 1 minute. Could even be 3 or 4 seconds per 1 minute. This has a precedent. inZOI has announced they are making their days longer than that of the Sims. Many other games have a slower clock.
I'd like the ability to set an individual sims' normal walking pace. I'm a fast walker IRL and I get so frustrated with my Sims when I'm playing on standard speed and watching them walk like they're wading in molasses.
I also use MC Command Center to slow down my days. I love it. It gives me so much more time to do the things I want to do. I would love to have a setting in Project Rene.
In TS2 the actions were faster, for example the sims take less time to reach a destination.
But with TS3 and TS4, the animations are slower, NPC baristas in Coffee Shop are slower, Restaurants are slower.
It doesn't make sense to keep the clock running fast.
I enjoy the long days in Cyberpunk 2077, in particular it takes a long time to travel by using the subway train or driving a vehicle.
In addition of that, Maxis should learn how to manage the time better and find the right balance in the animations.
In The Sims 4, some actions take 0 second when it should take a few SimMinutes and other actions take an eternity instead of a few SimMinutes (1 SimHour to throw a ball with snowball fight and tossing football).
It's a big problem, Maxis has no global vision of this universe that they are building and the fact that many different people are working on TS4 since 2014 doesn't really help to create a coherent game.
