I'm not overly excited for any of them yet. I think Paralives is the one I'm most interested in right now. It looks very cozy. InZoi is too realistic looking and Life by You has a ways to go graphics-wise although I love the idea of having more control over the game.
I do know that I am done with the sims. I hate the direction they took the Sims 4 and they seem to be going further and further from what made the previous Sims games work. I also hate the way they treat their players, especially long-term players. They continue to add things we hate and don't even acknowledge our concerns.
The Sims 5. None of the other ones really interest me. If I had to choose an alternative, InZoi would probably be it, but TS5 is what I'm really looking forward to.
It was life by you, but now that appears to be on hold/delayed for a third time. Doubting if it will ever actually release or not.
It's still on my wishlist and is the top ranked life simulator, but Paralives and Vivaland are on lower on my list as well. There's also Live the Life that has been out in Early Access for a while, but I'm hesitant to get it.
It's kind of sad that I have to point out that anything I say is only just my opinion and may be a different one from someone else.
LBY99%
Inzoi less than LBY, but still interested, I love how real everything looks.
Para lives 0% because their people look like unfinished drawings, hate the look, can't play it because of that.
Rene =some, much less than LBY and Inzoi and because of EA's history of so many, many disappointments over the years. They build you up to let you drop like a stone. I have learned to have no expectations after they quit with ts2. Still, 3 is fun now, 4 is a drag.
I was very excited for LBY, but at this moment, that has dialed back as we wait for more updates and info on its progress. So next in line for me is Paralives haha. It says on steam its planned to release in 2025, so that could very well be within the next 6 months, who knows. I like its art style and the videos they showed for gameplay seemed cool, I'm intrigued to know more. I really just want a new life sim game that offers the in-depth gameplay experience that I crave.
I would love to know more about Project Rene, but idk if we are getting any info anytime soon, so. I'm still confused as to what it is. I'm still hesitant to call in The Sims 5 since we don't truly know what the game offers yet.
@LeucosiaX Wow
Here is a message I found from their CEO
Hello everyone. Here is a message from our Deputy CEO, Mattias Lilja :
" Hi all,
Sadly, we’ve decided to cancel the release of our long-awaited life sim Life by You. This was an incredibly difficult call to make and is a clear failure on Paradox’s part to meet both our own and the community's expectations. We realize this raises some large questions; here we hope to shed at least some light on why we opted to cancel, rather than delay as we communicated earlier.
Life by You has been in the works for a long time and we’ve been very excited about the promise and the potential of this game. Our hope was always that it would be able to leave a mark in this exciting and new genre for us. That’s why we’ve opted to delay it twice, to give the studio and the game a fair shot at realizing the potential we saw. For each delay we made, we've seen incremental improvements, which in hindsight may well have led us to focus on details rather than the whole picture.
A few weeks back, we decided to hold off on an Early Access release in order to re-evaluate Life by You, as we still felt that the game was lacking in some key areas. Though a time extension was an option, once we took that pause to get a wider view of the game, it became clear to us that the road leading to a release that we felt confident about was far too long and uncertain. This is not to say the game has not shown any promising qualities; Life by You had a number of strengths and the hard work of a dedicated team that went into realizing them. However, when we come to a point where we believe that more time will not get us close enough to a version we would be satisfied with, then we believe it is better to stop. This is obviously tough and disappointing for everyone who poured their time and enthusiasm into this project, especially when our decision comes so late in the process.
At the end of the day, our job is to release games that are fun, interesting, and challenging for our players, and our every decision should be taken with that purpose in mind. When we get that right, we earn our pay. So, how do we ensure we don’t find ourselves here again? Honestly, there are no real guarantees. Games are difficult to get right, and we’ll definitely make mistakes, which, as these things go, always become painfully apparent in hindsight, but still shouldn’t reach this kind of magnitude regardless. We have to take a long and hard look at what led us here and see what changes we have to make to become better. In the end, our mission remains the same, and we’ll continue to take whatever steps we need to do just that.
Sincerely,
Mattias Lilja, Deputy CEO of Paradox Interactive "
Update my last post: with the tragic news of LBY being cancelled, I am no longer looking forward to any of the new games. When it gets closer to release, I'll see if I'm still interested and whether or not I want to get a new computer to play them on. All the steam has been blown off my enthusiasm for future games for now.
right now i think its to soon to think about what game is number 1 on my list but if i make a quick guess number one on my list would be sims5 (project rene)
If you went the sims5 to remain offline feel free to sign this petition http://chng.it/gtfHPhHK please note that it is also to keep the gallery
PR - 30%. I know almost nothing about this. IZ - 80%. Very competent team. Listening to simmers' feedback and has the budget to make this a serious competitor. Feedback discussions with Kjun, the game director, are happening now in the Discord. PL - 90%. Will be cozy and accessible to play. I think the gameplay systems will be the most fun out of all of them. MS (Midsummer Studios) - 50%. Fascinating interviews. Has a former SimGuru on the team. Love their focus on automatically generating stories and drama, but I know almost nothing about this.
I think LBY getting cancelled has changed things a lot for this type of game. What they had planned was creative and innovative and players connected with it for sure, so I hope these ideas will influence other game designers. I felt that they were trying to hand as much of the game over to the players as possible. From colour wheels to developer tools, they really did want us to go make stuff. There's a part of me which is still wondering if this is the last we'll hear from LBY? A lot of work appears to have been done already, and a lot of potential players want it. If someone showed up with the money, be it one investor or some kind of crowd funding, it might continue.
I've always been excited about TS5 too, but I planned to play both of them. I'm really impressed with the TS4 create a sim tools and CAS objects we have now, so I'm looking forward to what I hope is a better version of this in TS5. It's also important that TS5 will be the first sims game made to be 64 bit from the start. TS4 only received an update and many parts of it will still relate to it having been 32 bit. The major difference is 64 bit can access a lot more memory, and more memory means bigger worlds, more sims at one time, better graphics textures, all kinds of things. If the past is anything to go by, I expect they'll still make it to run well on fairly low spec computers. Still, we're getting to the point where even fairly low spec computers can do quite a lot, and that's exciting for the whole gaming industry.
