This is what The Sims 4 needs to save the game and make it fun and meaningful, it's time EA listened to us.
1 Huge Update on emotions to make them more meaningful and connect emotions more with personality and Sims Skills, make it much harder for Sims to be happy, harder for emotions to switch.
2 Huge Personality Overhaul to make traits more realistic and in depth, also different Animations for each interaction to the trait and add more trait slots, different reactions to things etc.
3 Bring back Burglars as NPCS.(Toggle on/off)
4 Fix Dine Out and add to the restaurant system.
5 Add more active careers and fix the retail system to be more in depth and realistic, being able to run a business from home.
6 Make Aspirations life long and challenging like Sims 2 and 3, Sims have a lifetime want/wish and still keep the option to switch aspirations in the game.
8 Hotels/Resorts and being able to run and manage them, plus visit them for a hoilday/vacation, add round pools, pool slides and diving boards.
9 Bring back the private school option from The sims 2 when the headmaster comes round for tea.
10 Update Pets to being able to see their needs.
11 Add more Milestones to be more like Sims 2 Memories and have every Milestone to be highlighted in green or bed to show if they are good or bad, also add more negative and personal Milestones.
12 Bring back one sided relationships such as a red circle to show if a sim is still annoyed with a another sim for hurting them etc, one sided crushes.
13 Add things to do for children such as more playground equipment like a wooden and metal playground set, normal slide, roundabout, seesaw, more social interactions, games that children can run around and play in their own category like The Sims 2 had, board games for children, a expansion pack like High School Years for children which includes school trips, school uniform, active primary school career, detention, getting expelled from school, more depth to homework such as English, Maths, Science, active after school clubs Sims can attend such as art, singing, dance, judo, football, Lego etc.
14 Tidy up the Sims Simology panel and update the family tree including adding more relationship types in CAS.
15 Add Pool Tables in the base game as a hobby and update the eyelashes to be more realistic.
16 Just more going on in community lots and drama happening with Sims automatically.
16 More dangers and risk in the game.
17 Add a online dating app and bring back Turn Ons and Turn Off to add a in depth chemistry system to the base game, bring back two interactions while relaxing to cuddle in bed and kiss in bed plus more multitasking options while relaxing in bed, bring back the heartshaped bed.
18 Inprove Sims basic autonomy including letting Sims lie in bed and stop waking up at night for no reason.
19 Bring back auto roofing, plus add spiral staircases, elevators and horizontal half walls.
20 Improve the cooking Animations to be more realistic.
21 Bring back the colour wheel for CAS and Build/Buy Mode.
22 Add more musical instruments as hobbies.
23 Add more Likes and Dislikes and make them automatic like in The Sims 2.
23 Being able to expand the Build/Buy Catalogue.
The Sims 4 can be saved if The Sims Team expanded it.
Come on EA listen to your Simmers and FIX THE SIMS 4.
Amen to all that. Also to please bring back the following:
Color Wheel
Spiral Stairs
Heartshape Bed
Time Machine & Time Portal
A Sims 4 version of Lunar Lake & Oasis Landing Worlds
Ancient Times livable Egypt World
According, Bass, Clarinet, Drums, Harp & Saxophone
Archery, Blacksmith & Caravan Psychic Careers
Playable Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles & Vans
ABILITY TO SAVE TO THE CLOUD!!!!!!!!! i cant tell you how many of us simmers have to restart entire builds or hours of play because we have forgotten to save in a while and your app is the worst and crashes for no reason
Some excellent suggestions. I would like to add
- base game toddler playground equipment
- one (just one) base game changing table
- round pools (I miss the from the sims 2 days)
- pool slides and diving boards
- add foodpreferences
- fairies
- dragons
- genies
- plantsim update : restore them to a full lifestate. They deserve better
- multi-tasking on the relax option : let a relaxing sim talk to
- a work from home option for all base game careers
- boats that allow two sims (passengers should be allowed any sim including infants and toddlers)
- unnatural hair colors for all ages. If a toddler sim can inherit blue skin, then they should be able to inherit the matching blue hair as well.
- make pets like cats, dogs and horses no longer count towards the 8 sim household limit. Give them their own separate slots with a max number
To this list I'd add elevators, spiral stairs and a lot more occult attention. Releasing two expansions focused on way more imaginative themes should do it. Not a game pack or stuff pack, actual full expansions.
It is ridiculous that the sims 4 does not have a single actual expansion focused on more fantastic elements.
Sims 1 had Making Magic which is still the best magic focused expansion released, and before that pretty much every expansion added some fantasy elements.
Sims 2 started the trend of adding a new occult in every expansion, it did not have any expansion fully dedicated to fantasy but every expansion did contain something new for those interested in the occult.
Sims 3 had world adventures, supernatural and into the future. THREE full expansions focused on more fantastical elements.
And still put in a new occult in every other expansion too, there simply was more fun.
I am already living boring every day real life. I don't care to play family life with the sims.
I want to play mad scientists with a lab in their basement, an Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider style adventurer risking their life to gather relics around the world, traditional mages or vampires living in their fancy manor with possibly a prisoner or two in their basement, Techfreaks who live in some super futuristic home and rely too much on technology, self destructive sims at rock bottom so that it's actually a challenge to guide them to a happy stable life, criminals who might actually risk being put in jail for their crimes, maybe a super hero or such...
Thing is, I want excitement, more than what I can experience in my own daily life.
Make Aspirations life long and challenging like Sims 2 and 3, Sims have a lifetime want/wish.
I like the Sims 4 aspiration system much better than the Sims 3 lifetime wish feature. I play with aging turned off, so having only one aspiration for all eternity doesn't work for me. I love how in Sims 4 we can switch around between different aspirations without losing progress. So my sims can have multiple different goals they are working towards in different situations. It feels very true to real life. It's one of my favorite features of how Sims 4 works. I also like that it does not matter how long I take to accomplish the goals (there are no consequences for not doing them) because I definitely don't want the game bugging me to do things that are not what I, the player, want to do right now. To me, the Sims 4 aspiration system is perfect.
I wouldn't necessarily mind also having some kind of lifelong wish in addition to the current aspiration system if people truly want that (though I really don't understand why they do), but I would be very sad if the current system were changed. I love it the way it is.

I agree with you, they should be a option of both in settings and the more options The Sims 4 has the better, emotions and personality definitely need a overhaul though.
Rather than more play equipment, how about brining back the games of Tag, Merrimack and others for the kids to run around and play.
Yes we need them back too, what children need to make them a full life stage is more playground equipment such as a normal slide, a wooden and metal playground set, roundabout, see-saw, more social interactions just for children, active school expansion pack which could include more homework types for English, Maths, Science, school trips that are active ypu can go on such as visting a active park lot, after school clubs that are interactive Sims can go to after school, also I agree games children can play needs to return too and in their own category like The Sims 2 had, I want hide and seek and children jumping on the bed back too.
I completely agree with @Atreya33 and @rhalius about Occult content. The ratio is bleak, and Occult/Fantasy/Sci-Fi content is what keeps me playing this game. It seems like we're only thrown a bone every two or three years and it's never a full EP so this results in us still not having all of the fantastical content of past games. We really, really need a full-sized, fantastical world. Five lots ain't cutting it and they're all separated.
~ I would personally like to add that we really need some updates with our Occults. The relationship hit that Vampires and Werewolves get should not be a one-size-fits-all. Traits need to matter. We need better access to the Brave Trait (maybe as one of the add-on traits in gameplay) or player-directed conversation and actions need to make a difference. It's really frustrating (and kind of weird to me) that every Sim in the vicinity just suddenly starts to become an enemy of an Occult just because they hiss or rage. If anything, this is where the Fear emotion should kick in instead. And it does for Werewolves, but Vampires were never updated. Also, I have an entire Vampire family who constantly lose relationship points with the head of the household just because he has Uncontrollable Hissing. Why does this affect other vampires, especially family, the same way? The "all or nothing" programming that goes into Sims 4 is unintuitive and very frustrating.
~ Also, we seriously need more Occult attention to the younger Sims. At least ages infant - child. Newborns, whatever, they're not that interesting and they get a cradle (but could use some more "Occultish" clothing) but the others seriously need some gameplay updates. They also could really use better access to Occult eyes, some physical feature options like pointy ears, teeth, nails, fur/coloration/line accents, full access to the hair and skin spectrums, accessories, and black/dark swatches both for clothing and youth furniture collections. Half of my Occult offspring don't really look like Occult offspring because they have mostly pastels, fruit, and banal styles to choose from. They have multiple clothing categories so we really need outfits for each category.
~ How about some new Occult-related lot traits? I love the bar area in Moonwood Mills where tons of Occults of all kinds show up. Why isn't that a lot trait that players have access to? That would make my game so much more lively and enjoyable. Also, why not separate Occult lot traits for each one, the way we have for Vampires? Then we could actually design where we want our Occults to show up and make the worlds more our own, since we can't edit anything in them.
Which brings me to some general things that I think are long overdue.
~ Why don't we have a world editing tool? I would have much preferred this over a terrain tool. Past Sims games always let us edit and change and build our own neighborhoods, but Sims 4 doesn't. Even if the core mechanics of the game wouldn't allow us to alter existing worlds, if we had tools to create our own worlds from scratch, it would make a huge difference in personalizing our games.
~ A mechanic to shut down all phone/tech activity, whether a toggle, a trait, or a "turn off phone" feature for individual Sims. I have to use a mod for this, and if the day comes that this mod no longer works, my time with Sims 4 ends. I cannot stand the phone obsession. If there was one thing in the game that I could change or remove, it would be this. I don't care that it reflects modern society, I don't care that it's "trendy", I don't care if it's accurate. It was incorporated poorly to begin with and is absolutely not "inclusive". I actually know people (yes, multiple) who don't use smart phones, they still use land lines and have zero interest in joining the cult of mobile addiction. I've even considered returning to a flip phone myself. But no Sim in my game can do that. No Sim can "unplug" or truly live off the grid. Why do we even have that lot trait when our Sims are completely incapable of doing it? It's just another thing that feels half done, and I don't understand how these incomplete features get a pass before release.
Well, I'm going to keep it at that for now. There are more things I could throw in, like updating Fears, Sentiments, Compatibility, Clubs, and all of the other "throwaway" features we have, but that about says it there.
I agree with children’s games! I would love to see kids in the neighborhoods playing ball games and hopscotch and hoola hooping! Tag, hide and seek and something more current that kids play (although I know kids don’t play outside games anymore, it would be so fun to have in game just like my childhood.
Also an expansion pack for the elderly! Complete with an old folks home with nurses. And a nursing career that isn’t a rabbit hole.
Elderly life stage just really needs attention. More clothes that actually look like an elderly person would wear them…more wrinkles, more hair styles that actually work for old people. It’s so hard to build the elderly in CAS because there just isn’t much to work with. They should get shorter and hunched over as they age.
And I agree about the elementary school. I don’t get why it’s all high school…add the ability to go to all grades! And a preschool/daycare expansion pack with caregiver career (NOT a rabbit hole!)
And fix so many of the rabbit holes to no longer be rabbit holes! What a lazy way to design a game! Ditch them all and replace with actual in game play please!
YES to everything on this thread! I want it all! And how about a proper Open For Business (TS2) themed Expansion Pack focused on Entrepreneurism, return of ticket machines, hair salons and tattoo shops!
Gonna make a list of stuff I would love to have in The Sims 4:
Features
- Color wheel for clothes, certain objects, hair and eyes
- Custom Styled Looks so you can save your own presets for CAS
- Cars with animations and gameplay (including adult Sims taking their kids to school, music in a car and Woohoo in car)
- Principal dinner, if successful, a child Sim can get access to a Private School
- More pool tools including curved Swimming Pools
- Preteen life stage
- Older adult life stage
GPs (if and when they will return)

• Pet Shop with turtles, lizards, snakes, ferrets, birds, pet bunnies, pet shop venue
• Castaway with monkeys, creating a survival plan in an isolated island, Sims learning new skills like Woodchopping
• Shopping Malls with Multifunctional lot type
• Daycare with active Daycare/Kindergarten career, new objects and traits for Infants and Toddlers
EPs
• Open For Business/Entrepreneur with return of ticket machines, new retail and business options, animated cash registers, shopping bags, detailed real estate system, owning venues, separate bank accounts for Sims and new banking features
• Music Lifestyle with bands, active singer/artist career, record label contracts, recording studio booth object & lot type, Arena venue
• Grim Reaper/Deathly Lifestyle with cemeteries, new Grim Reaper occult, ability to Try For Baby with Grim Reaper (please), funeral event, Ghosts in CAS & Ghosts overhaul, new active career, new gravestones
• Medieval Lifestyle with royal gameplay, medieval world with castles, ability to turn off mobile phone per world in game settings, dragons, creating a Sims empire/royal family dynasty
• Oceanic Living with new boats, houseboats, scubadiving skill and underwater world
• Fantasy with proper unicorns, Fairy occult, pegasus, Elf Sims, fantasy themed world
• Rush Hour with new vehicle such as trucks, cars, taxis, motorcycles, scooters, owning and repairing old cars, motorcycles, new city world designed for vehicles, Driving Skill, new careers (Mechanic/Car Crafter, Car Racer)
• Alien Planet Colony Living with new alternate Alien occult (not related to GTW aliens), Sims creating a sustainable foundation on a new alien planet world, new careers like Space Station Scientist
I just need a construction feature that allow selecting many objects and clip those furnishing into one single group like what we have on the teapot (Genshin Impact). An extra would be exporting it to the gallery like the rooms itself
