Sims 4 Update Required By June 10

Strange announcement because :

by default you can't already load the game when an update is available.
If you play offline , EA App is probably an old version.
And when a new pack is released, you must update the game to play with it.

So this popup annoys all the online players because of a minority of cases while the offline players will never see it.

I updated yesterday and now I can't run my game. Everything sims related is blank, no way to open my game.

@Lesh004 There have been issues reported that some anti/virus security apps prevent the launch of the game. There is more information on the AHQ site at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues/ct-p/the-sims-4-technical-issues-en there are sub threads for PC, Mac, and Console

This worked for me. I no longer see the pop up. I had to close EA App and reopen it then launch game and it was gone.

Do we have to have it updated for DirectX thing? I haven’t touched that because I can’t work out whether my computer will support it or not.

@MayaRose1138, no. It's not required yet.

From the patch notes:

DirectX 11 is available on The Sims 4 on an opt-in basis and will be rolled out fully in a later update for Simmers running Windows.

Thank you. I did check that out and my box didn’t contain the sub-heading “feature levels”. I’ll take a screenshot this afternoon and post it here and then someone can tell me whether I can have the upgrade or not. My computer is 9 years old but still running really well 🤞 so I don’t know if it would be able to handle it. It’s also not running Windows 10 😳, it’s an earlier system.

It is the 10th here in Aus. And still no sign of the Event yet.

I am already running DirectX 12, not sure what to make of that. At least we are not behind in everything. LOL

My computer will run DirectX 12, but I am worried about using mods with it. Right now I'm on Windows 10, but my computer doesn't support Windows 11. I'm looking into whether or not I can upgrade my computer or if I just need a new one

On one hand, I worry about transferring my game to a new computer, but I also worry about my computer becoming so outdated, it won't support new game updates. Plus I want the game to run as well as it can.

I have done both in the past, I think upgrading costs more in the long run. I did move the game when I bought this computer, no sweat. Just remember to back up all your saves and important files.

By the way, do we have any idea what might happen today... and when?
It's Jun 10, at least in my world, all games are (hopefully) updated to the latest patch level - and now?
What comes next?

I could imagine that there might be a major EA app update because of that "maintenance" hint, but that would hit everyone who plays an EA game and not only sims players. So any activity certainly wouldn't be at 10am PST 😄
Has anyone, who plays another EA game, heard of something similiar?
Or is it sims-specific?

Has anyone already played today, June 10th? Any differences? I won't be able to open the game until tomorrow. The game is up to date but the warning pop up came up anyway. I hope the EA app is better than the pop up in detecting the latest game version.

Is this an update for the app or just the sims 4? Cause I had no issues opening the ea app yesterday but I can't open it now. Not even trying to play the sims 4 but instead the sims 3. I already posted on AHQ but didn't really get an answer there. Is the app down for maintenance or....?
