I'm going to assume that this is tied to your account, because if it's tied to the install... That's going to be a pain in the neck for a lot of people, not to mention very short sighted on the part of the Sims team (though it wouldn't be the first time...)
I'm sure this will appeal to a certain kind of player (not me) and I'm equally certain I probably will manage to unlock everything because I'm getting ready to set up a new save, which means opening Sims 4 almost daily while I work on it. But just because I'm comfortable with my ability to get everything doesn't mean I like this sort of gimmick. At least I've finished the seasonal event in DDLV, so this won't be competing with that for my time (though the Mulan update likely will.)
(I'm still annoyed about the Sims Session shirts being locked per save, because the save where I unlocked all of them is two computers back at this point, so they're constantly at the bottom of the CAS t-shirt selection, mocking me (Yes, I know how to get them in my game, but I'd rather have them as an option when browsing rather than having to choose them with deliberate forethought.))
I used the glitch to download the mini fridge. I have it in my current save, but if it is not registered as mine, will it be unavailable to add to another save later?
I have always wanted a swatch of this minifridge without the college decals. If I lose access to this minifridge, I will very very very unhappy!!!!!!!
why do things have to be timed? limited? exclusive?
Why ? To keep the players engage in the game and boost the stats of "active" players.
I feel like a sim controlled by EA ... "Do this and now do that"
All I can say is that it will have opposite effect in long run
Will it go like this?
I don't know but I've seen this with so many popular mobile games that shall not be named which are now pretty much dead and buried deep underground all because of "fun limited item" and I cannot see what part of this is good business idea
One of the reasons they put enticements into mobile games is that mobile games have a limited lifespan anyway. People get bored with them quickly, so it's important to get as many people involved early on as possible to maximize profits before the inevitable loss of interest inherent in that type of game happens.
In The Sims, they handle the inevitable loss of interest by adding in DLCs. The "limited-time" items just boost the interest in the short run, as a way of making it until the next DLC comes out. I doubt that having those little boosters will have the kind of negative timeline you outlined in your spoiler. It will just encourage the people who don't drop in as often to drop in a bit more, but leave the people who are the regular player base intact. (I hope you don't really mean to call the regular player base "gremlins." That sounds more derogatory than necessary.)
I was just referring to myself as gremlin really😅 (edited, hopefully less confusing)
the outline is what happened with all the other games that i used to love that went too far with this stuff
i just want people to see the problems with this idea before the problems are actual problems
like meanwhile this one event does not lead to the pipeline it could if things keep going in the same direction over and over and over
as for the loss of interest sorry to say but to me the loss of interest mainly happens when they start using these strategies that I hate passionately
I could play The Sims for decades and decades more but only if it isn't destroyed by all this mobile game nonsense.
Okay... I'm online in my game. Where's the stuff?? I didn't get a popup or anything like that. And today is the 28th. What am I missing?
I didn't get the events pop-up either but I found the items by filtering the BB catalogue by event rewards and all colours filter. The vending machine doesn't appear to work, it had an interesting option of yoghurt melts. All the other items appeared to work fine.

It's weird. The items ONLY show up if you filter by event rewards and all the colors. They don't show when you are just looking at the catalogue or if you filter only by event rewards. I'm going to assume something isn't working correctly.

I filtered by event rewards, which is a choice now. But... nothing. There's nothing there.
You also need to filter by all colours to have the items show up.

Yeah I tried that after I reread what you said and edited my comment. I'm glad the items are indeed in my game, but that's weird and is definitely a bug. Thanks for figuring it out.

I think it's tomorrow. I don't get the option in the main menu yet.
I don't like it's temporary. If you used it in game it will expire once the date is up?
Serves to install the custom content then.
Always love to get free stuff for my sims. Doesn't show up for me as an option though.. I can find them through the filter but they cost simoleans so I guess I will wait for a fix.
"Every child matters. If we fail our children, we are bound to fail our present, our future, faith, cultures, and civilizations as well."

I don't think that's how it works.I think it's only aviable to get tempoary.Think in mobile you claim special rewards or loot in pc games.
Yes, Those items came up when I filtered the search. I can use the new swatches for my residential rental hotel in Tartosa. I like the sleek look of the vending machines and other objects. I was already thinking to put a vending machine in my hotel but the ones we have wouldn't have looked right. The 1 tile compact bar will be nice to have in the "guest rooms" of the hotel.

The Sims Sessions shirts are not locked per save, the are locked per household. In that regard they work the same way as any other locked career outfit. Once they are unlocked for one family member, they are permanently available for everyone in that household.
For personal use I created a sim that has the shirts unlocked. I you want you can use her to get the shirts. Add her from the gallery to your household. You can delete her immediately afterwards but the shirts will be available for that household.
One thing I noticed is, some of these items are just reskins of other items, maybe with slight alterations. The Sims 4 is no stranger to reusing assets, but these ones feel even more blatant than usual. At least the dartboard has a slightly different box, even though they didn't even bother touching the dart placement or scoreboard.

You forgot to campare the mini fridge to the one from university and the trashcan has an earie resemblance to the nano trashcan in base game, the one that gives money for trash.
Those items aren't very creative but I have been wanting more colours for that pillow ever since modern lux was released and a stickerless version of the minifridge was also on my wish list.
At least the bar seems to be original. We don't have any single tiled bar so far. It'll come in handy when sims want to practice mixology at home.
If I manage to get online enough to unlock them... EA's tactics to use fomo to invade my everyday life outside of the game is already doing it's work.
Welp.. The new practice makes prefect trait comes up when you randomize sims traits in CAS. I just hope this stuff remains visible when we actually claim it.
Are some people actually seeing a reward event to claim things in their homescreen? I've seen nothing so far and I'm confused as to whether it's actually in wide release or not. The absence of an official announcement makes me think it's not, but that screen that's floating around also suggests that a prize is to be claimed today (the 29th).
I think that May 30th we will get another SDX with free stuff. The gurus said we will get the free stuff in two weeks aka May 30th. The timed rewards is not it.

I would still like to unlock everything to get it official in the game without a mods folder, but I do want to see everything in case I miss a day.

you may have to take down a main screen mod, if you have one installed, to access the freezer bunny tile to unlock the new items.
bar, pillow and necklace are probably gonna be most useful in my save and maybe the trait will be interesting addition

The items look good, and different enough. Like the mini fridge and I wanted a regular vending machine
