Sims 4: Bands

This is how I envision a band pack. I am not sure if the mechanics are possible, but this would be fun.
It would be a full expansion pack with 3-4 new CAS styles: grunge, 70's rocker, classic jazz singer, and hip hop (or punk, or new wave, or emo, 80s, but just keep the grunge, 70s rocker, and classic 20s-40s jazz)

Highlight CAS items:
1.BIllie Holiday hair flower under hats. A huge gardenia and maybe even a rose, too?
2. More unisex long hair, think Jerry Cantrell or Pearl Jam. No frills or thrills. Just straight down the shoulders with a simple part. Like with what came with the Horse Ranch Update, but some hair on the shoulder and maybe a little shorter.
3. Plain Leather jacket in different colors (no studs no print) for male and female frames
and another one with swatches like alligator skin or distressed. A simple black tee or tank goes under it, maybe some graphic/band/distressed tees to go under it. (unisex)
4. Newsboy hat in the rocker style (don’t judge, but like Bratz Rock Angels? Their hats are so cute)
5. A dang-on Mohawk, please. One for straight hair and an afro hawk. Both have solid color options and the ombre colored options.
6. Thinner nose rings and smaller stud nose , please?
7. A striped t-shirt with a normal, modern fit. It comes in colors like white with black stripes (like a mime), old-looking green and brown/orange, 70s yellow and red, etc.
8. A long-sleeved sweatshirt version of that shirt with similar swatches but also a dark grey with black stripes (one version with thick stripes and one with thin stripes). And some distressed variations as well.
9. More tattoos that aren’t arm-sleeves. Like an upper arm tattoo of a wolf or one in Simlish. Or anything. IDC
10. Wire frame, half moon glasses. Just hear me out.
11. Star over the eye make up in Face Paint. And some other cool face paints. Like a small star over the cheek, or heart.
12. A flower crown under hats, like CC
13. A 70s style tee that is meant to be tucked in (unisex)
14. Nice pair of jeans with a high enough waist that looks good with tucked in tees-and it comes with a belt. Please, I hate beltless pants.
15. Looser jeans that are distressed, like the jeans from Cottage Living, but not cuffed or cropped. (love those Cottage Living jeans, btw)
16. Socks that can be seen over low combat boots/high top sneakers (for males and females)
15. chipped nail polish
16. Locs that have a simple middle part that go straight down. No beads, no thrills, just simple and boho locs that look good in a beanie. (long)
17. Another set of locs that are more free formed.
18. A middle-pony tail of the locs with a side part so a few locs are out and frame the face.
19. A cool loose beanie, like beret beanie…with some plain and patterned swatches. (For the simple locs, they just hang straight down, but for the free form locks, they are mostly hidden under the beret with like two strands poking out the front)
20. if you do emo, have a fitted t-shirt with striped undershirt sleeves
21. some emo hair
23. A nicer turtleneck under a blazer option. In more neutral colors and tweeds and a better fit.
24. Horn rimmed glasses
26. smallish round wireless colored lenses sunglasses.
27. A unisex layered long hair with a part in the middle. Think like 1974 Roger Taylor.
28. Revive some of the hairs from the Boho DLC from Sims 3 Store. Just, a lot of shagginess, fringe, and layers. But don’t make it choppy and ugly, please. Keep it soft.
29. A semi-loose band tee with the sleeves torn off that tucks into pants. (when I say band tee, I mean something that has the graphics of something that would look like a band tee)
30. A 20s or 30s curly bob that is shorter in the back, like it tapers. Maybe it has little bangs in the front, maybe it doesn’t. IDK.
31. A short sleeve turtle neck (m/f)
32. A long, silky, form fitting dress with an open back, or maybe criss-crossing pearls going down the back like thin straps. The dress should be in silvers, ch@mpagnes, ivories, emerald, and show-stopper red of course. It has a high collar, not a sweetheart neck line.
33. Another long form fitting dress that's simple and sweet heart neck line and maybe a slit at the leg. Simple, but elegant
34. A spaghetti-strap dress with a lowish v neck line and A-line mid-calf-length skirt. It's not a ball gown. It's more A-line.It's in more dark colors like deepest blue, deepest green, black, deepest burgundy or cinnamon. It's simple, but elegant, as well. No frills, no beading. Kind of like that girl from that last Bond movie that came out, that dress that girl who's from Kn!ves Out was wearing in that scene in Cuba from the last James Bond movie.
35. A suit set in a jazzy fit with a thin tie and open blazer. In colors like blue, burgundy, black, tweed pants and solid top, etc.
36. A fun vest. Maybe its fringe? Maybe it's floral. I'm thinking oversized with a fitted tee underneath.
37. More striped pants, not pin stripe, a bit thicker and more playful.

Instruments:
1. electric guitar (including a flying V or 1 with a lot of stickers on it) Flying V is unlockable. Or a cool golden guitar.
2. stand up bass
3. bass guitar (this is more important. Remember, bass has 4 tuners (knobs), and ppl can just read the description to see if it is a 4 string bass or 6 string guitar) as a bassist, I am tired of seeing my sims rocking out with someone with a 300 lb wooden behemoth
4. Drum kit
5. Possible saxophone and trumpet and flute since sims can already play jazz.
6. Maybe a kid’s guitar?
7. An unlockable fiddle made of gold, as a nod to that country song, you know the one. The sim has to win the battle of the bands or a competition on violin to win it!
8. A llama shaped bass or plumbob shaped bass since we have freezer bunny guitar

Game play:
Sims can play these instruments "play alone" or "jam with..."
Other new commands will be: "perform with...(perform song with...)
A cool new feature will be the option for solos during "jam with..." command and it will work like when a Sim is swimming and can do an additional action like "splash..." . So, while the sims are jamming, you can click on the Sim you want to have a solo and they will do the solo. (The game can have like 2 pre-sets per jamming/practice and per song arrangement the game already has. the expansion pack can come up with more genres to preform, too).
Every instrument and skill level after 1 can solo. And if the Sim’s skill level is high enough (like 4-5) performing a solo gives a new confident/focused moodlet "wicked solo" or whatever you want to call it) and those who heard it can have a happy or energized moodlet ("from hearing wicked solo") or whatever that mood is when Sims hear a genre they like. Hearing a poorly performed solo can have negative moodlet or bored moodlet and the Sim who played it can have the typical Embarrassed moodlet ("lame solo")

Other game play includes, old Sims 3 actions like "ask to join" "Name band" and sims can find gigs at weddings, bars, etc. There can be rabbit hole gigs and in-person gigs. Gigs at the park, the beach.
There can be this thing called band-chemistry. High band chemistry gets the band higher-paid gigs and better gigs and more fans, and more success. It also boosts their confident or happy moodlet when they play together or interact with each other. They can even build their skills faster playing with bandmates with a high chemistry. You can find Band Chemistry in a new tab like how Clubs has. It can look like Work Performance bar.
The things that get band chemistry high is having Compatibility with band members (from growing together). But also, having strong relationships with band members. Practicing together a lot. Listening to some of the bandmate’s ideas. (if you have NPC in your band, they can make suggestions in a pop up and your reaction determines how they feel and even band-chemistry). Things that hurt band chemistry is fighting with your bandmates(big amount), not practicing with them(small amount), leaving someone out of events/practices(medium amount), and your reaction to certain scenarios that happen (like if a bandmate makes a suggestion, or if the person that offered the gig randomly pays one of you more (this can be a randomized pop up scenario that happens). You can opt out of Band Chemistry in Options. Some of us just want to play a sandbox band with no drama.
Maybe bands can get fans in a similar fashion as Simstagram followers? If they do something cool in public, a Notification pops up that they’ve gained more fans. Or maybe we can just use the same Celebrity system from Get Famous. Or a hybrid of the both. Because some Sims want fans without being like a Celebrity lifestyle. They want to be kind of underground. Can y’all do a hybrid of the two? Maybe it starts off with a fanbase, and after 100 fans you can start earning fame points? You don’t really meet your fans or anything. Some NPCS or Townies might be fans, though.
If Bands work with Social Bunny, that would be cool, too. But I don’t play with Social Bunny, so I won’t care if y’all include it.
Maybe a challenge can be for NPC bandmates to threaten to quit or leave. Like, if a pop-up shows up and they come up with a suggestion or request y’all practice…and you answer incorrectly too many times, the bandmate might leave or quit. Or it can be randomized or have negative consequences like loss of band chemistry, or them not showing up to practice sometimes -until you appease them. Otherwise, you can replace them! You can opt out of this game play style in Options, however. I personally wouldn’t like that, but I know players like challenges.

If I haven’t made this clear, you have the option to control all your bandmates under one household. Or control all of them with separate, but rotating households, OR have NPC/Townies that you have no intention of playing with, audition for the band. Or simply just ask them to join, like in Sims 2 and 3. If the bandmates are in separate households, they work like Outing, where your Sim will just “Jam Together/With” or “Practice Together/With” or “Perform Together/With”.
Band Auditions: Would be a fun thing to add. Existing band members can host a band audition like a Social Event. There must be enough space for all instruments. And a few random Townies and NPCS come around and audition. Depending on their compatibility with the controlled sim(s), their skill, and mood, the controlled sims can have positive or negative moodlets while the Townie is performing. The event can last 5 hours or so. You click on a townie and an option will be “Listen to audition”, so the townie will have to perform. You can hire the Townie on the spot or call them later. Maybe a new sentiment can be created. If the audition was really memorable, there might be sentiment for that (so players can keep track of good auditions) and if the audition was terrible, same thing, a negative sentiment. Middle of the road auditions might not have a sentiment at all. So, you’ll just have to remember to call them if you’re dead set on having that Sim in your band.

The Word:
1. Maybe a whole new world that has more bars and concert halls for Sim Bands to perform. There can be a couple of residential lots, but maybe it can just be like a Magnolia Promenade where it focuses on Public Lots and like 2 empty lots. So, you can add a house if you want or make your own venue. Sims and Sim Bands can perform at a venue whenever you want and play for tips. But you have to be invited to play a gig and get paid the big bucks for that. Maybe after busking publicly, that makes it easier to get invited to play a gig. Oh! and a new festival at this Neighborhood can be like Lalapalooza or Battle of the Bands. The festival has a stage and food stalls and merch stall and busking stations. And you can win the prize just like in Geek Con and humour/hijinks festivals. My sims never win those contests, so I don't know how to win. But it's basically the same idea. You can get a prize by performing a song (alone or with band). This festival will be so cool.

2. Back when I was a kid playing Sims 2, and didn’t care about aesthetic, I made up a venue called “Noise Fest”. It was a place for my bands to practice and perform. I envisioned a Main Event or Dave and Busters looking place with carpet, neon, and all the stuff a kid loves. Anyway, there were private rooms for practice, a stage upstairs for performance (with a place for food/drink) and even a rooftop stage that only the best sims could perform on. I made Noise Fest because my Sims’ houses didn’t always have room for a full band’s set up. And also, so they could play with free instruments. And also, it was a place to perform publicly. Can y’all put Noise Fest on there? I can’t build it, because I build for fun, and my work reflects that. No one wants to spend $40 on one of my builds, but can y’all make a cool practice space that is a cool venue with a rooftop stage? And even though I was a kid when I made up the name Noise Fest, I lowkey still like it, so…y’all can name it that, too. Thanks. Noise Fest isn’t grungy or distressed. It's fun and neon. Cyberpunk would be better than grungy.

3. A lot of Simmers are saying they are tired of North American Worlds, but most of the genres I want portrayed are North American style genres. So, the next best bet is either an Australian World or a London World. Yes, we have Henford, but that is clearly the countryside. London is a totally different scene. I wouldn’t mind some jazz or rock bands hailing from SimsLondon, (and not SimsLiverPool, not the right scene). It could be named after a knock-off of one of London's existing neighborhoods. It can be grey, urban, lots of bars with basement venues. Lots of townhouse looking buildings, y’all know how London looks. I really like that look for a band. But, I don’t think England when I think grunge or emo.
Australia is really good, because a lot of alternative bands come from Australia right now, like Tired Lion, Violent Soho, etc. This will also give the opportunity to pay some Aboriginals and Māori a nod as well (some of the townies and playable characters will be of that descent). Australia kinda looks a little English and little American. I think it mostly looks American. And it doesn’t help that it’s another arid location. Players may not distinguish it from locations like San Sequoia or Oasis Springs. Y’all have a lot of Oceania headliner simmers like James Turner and Deligracy, so they can help you create the vibe of NZ or Australia if you go that route. Plus, we’ll never turn down another beach that you can swim in.
Anyway, thank you for considering my Expansion Pack Idea. Please don’t close out the Sims 4 before giving our sims the chance to actually jam with other sims. The thing that is the most important to me is including drums, a bass, and the opportunity to play those instruments with other sims. Idc how they look, or where they are. (I mean, I do, I wrote 2500 words on how I envision this pack, but y’all know what I mean).

What would you guys add or change to Sims 4 Band Pack?
And what expansion packs would you have?

I would love another American world, so I wouldn't mind somewhere like Seattle for their indie music scene, but I think Seoul, South Korea could also work if people are aching for more international locations. That way we could also have kpop looking CAS assets too, and maybe sims could be idols and choose to follow a kpop type of career track vs a Western music track.

If we're getting another american world for a Bands Pack i think Las Vegas is the one. About CAS (as i'm a sim creator) i just want to see some clothes that references to famous singers like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cher, Prince, Tina Turner, David Bowie, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, etc.

Vegas would be such a fun idea! I’d love them to go all out on that Vegas showgirl aesthetic, and really tap into that campy over-the-topness for their CAS assets.

If we're adding a music component, I think it would be fun to have "band" as an extra-curricular activity.

I like this. I like this a lot. But what I might want to do for the "worlds" is something that's kind of talked about in a few other places - set up the worlds like a tour (this is mildly influenced by Rock Band) with 3 different worlds each about the size of a game pack world (4-6 lots)

Each world would then have one or maybe two rabbit hole "large venues" like Arenas or stadiums (this is for the sake of keeping sims populations to a reasonable number) plus you could build bars and nightclubs to perform in as well. And you'd have to (as a band) have a high reputation/fame/chemistry to perform at an arena.

While whole new locations would be cool it might be nice if they felt like extensions of existing worlds... a "downtown" area for Oasis Springs (since Willow Creek already has Magnolia Promenade) a beachfront neighborhood for Del Sol Valley, and something that felt like a theater district for San Myshuno, for example. Cut down on production costs for developing the worlds too.

If they were on one map, obviously it should be based around one location, and although it might seem similar to San Myshuno, I'd have to put Chicago's name up there as a well known music city with a lot of different styles. (and maybe I could get some build assets for a Chicago bungalow...) London would be good too. Vegas... Vegas is really eclectic. And I tend to think of it as where musicians go when they don't want to retire, but they're tired of the grind of produicng album and going on tour to support them. But I wouldn't say no.

For me customization and bands being a group thing with Sims of my own not townies are what I want most.

Customization - Create a Band an advanced feature like clubs but with more detailed character specific behaviors.
Pick music genre band plays: Pop, Rock, Country, Rap, Metal
Pick role of each band member: Vocalist (pick singer voice), lead guitarist, drummer and so on pick which instruments each member specifically plays and all instruments in game should be included even the pipe organ from Vampires
Pick behavior of each band member while on stage: Serious, headbanging, does the singers dance
    Pick outfit

World: Del Sol Valley 2.0 same world but different active lots or even better new lots for large music venues and new homes to live in beach side but readd the old lots from Get Famous and finally truly complete that fame expansion and world.

Choose a gig: Depending on fame level play at stadiums small bars or anywhere willing to pay I'd say anywhere with a stage item should be a couple sizes of the stage so they fit the venue.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"

I'll be honest, I'd be more interested in this if it was more than just rock/garage bands like we've had before. I'd rather have more classical instruments like flutes, clarinets, etc... and the ability to make orchestras.

I honestly think they should have a few different styles of bands that you can make with this reflective of different musical tastes. I'll be honest that I think one of those styles should be Eurovision. I think that fan base would go crazy for it and it would be so funny. That and I could really see Kpop, hip hop and something like Maneskin along with some historic styles.

I'll be honest that I probably most want the hipster alternative style but Eurovision would be so funny that I'd have to make some failed starlets for that.
    Champ and Girlie are dogs.

I just wanted to say that I would absolutely love a band expansion or game pack. I don't have much to add. I'll continue to wait as patiently as I can with a sim ready to start a band.

I would like how the Sims 2 did band how a guitar player or a drummer or keyboard will wait to hear the tempo and play together. Also since we have a singer they can be vocals like it's going to be fun being in a band.

Exactly, this would be awesome. It would be cool for Henford on Bagly to get a London-style downtown or something.

Lol, reminds me of rockband. I really miss that video game. I've always wanted rock band and sims to merge. I made a character on rockband who I'd always use as my bassist. His name was Greenbeard. He was cool. I forgot which personality he had. If we at least had 🐸🐸🐸🐸 on Sims 4, I could make him on the sims and make him create so much mayhem.

    This is possible.
You would need to create venues. The cost of a ticket would depend on the popularity (fame) of the band compared to the available size of the venue. This could be fantastic fun. I imagine a hole-in-the-wall, a small theatre, and then a stadium. Only to go back the the hole-in-the-wall, because those fans are real.

I would play the **** out of this.

We could start out with punk bands added to an automobile expansion pack that promotes real garage punk bands as a career and skill. A custome play list could be created with soundtracks for in game racing in rabbit holes if possible... :)
Musicans could work thire way up to being Rockstars or Producers :) Hip hop, Folk, Jazz, Blues and other genres could be add to a more fleshed out music career along with more woodwinds :)
