Rose Cartwright's 50 Foals Dude Ranch Challenge Up-Date:
It's the first day of Winter and Rose and Hosa's wedding day. It is sprinkling a bit, and the guests have started to arrive.
Prior to the wedding, Rose told all her admiring sims that she just wanted to be friends. There were no hard feelings with anyone. She asked Stephen Ferreira to be her Sim of Honor (her first BFF), Cole Beckett to be the Flower Bearer, Don Gooseman to be the Officiant, and Dani Davila to be the Ring Bearer. As we all know in sims' weddings, this didn't happen. The ceremony seems to have started, as Dani is heading down the aisle with the rings. But where is the groom?
Okay, here he comes, running down the road to the wedding in an outfit that I didn't pick as his wedding attire.
I wanted Rose and Hosa to get married by an officiant, which is what I selected; but Don never came to the front. I think he was too busy talking to a horse. So, Rose and Hosa just moseyed on down the aisle themselves to the wedding arch. (Rose's dress is from My Wedding Stories pack).
Well, at least they had the rings, thanks to Dani.
And they are now married! Woot!
And the chow line. Look at all the food!
And feeding each other a piece of wedding cake.
Their first dance together as husband and wife.
And then the party really starts! Hee Haw! Chicory, of course, is one of the guests.
Hosa moved into the Ponderosa with Rose. It's a full house now, and Rose takes a moment to talk quietly to Biscuit who is heading to a new home tonight, too.
Biscuit's final stats.
And suddenly they were alone and it was their wedding night. It was a hot night to be sure, and the next morning Rose isn't feeling so well. Hosa just figures it's all the excitement of the wedding.
Guess again Hosa. Rose is preggers!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
That morning, Rose has another task to do and that is to say farewell to Endeavor.
Endeavor's final stats.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Meanwhile, Hosa is learning to ride.
Well, trying to...although Blaze is doing a good job trying to buck him off.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Weeks pass and ranch life continues. Rose is often feeling ill but continues to do ranch chores.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A few weeks later, it had snowed overnight, and Hosa went for a morning ride.
Rose, now heavily pregnant, works on making nectar. Oops! Maybe that wasn't such a good idea, as Rose goes into labor. Hosa! Hosa! It's time to go!
They make it to the hospital and Hosa is such a caring, loving husband. He is so calm and supportive...
That is. until Hosa got into the delivery room, then he gets the pre-parental panic attack.
But it was all worth it, as Rose delivers a healthy baby girl. Welcome to the world, Jolene Cartwright! Heiress to the Ponderosa.
Josephine Taylor just inherited a ruined dude ranch in Chestnut Ridge from her great-great-granny Bonnie Taylor. It has sat deserted since great-great-grandad Buck Taylor passed away and Bonnie left to live with her daughter Frannie Taylor in the city. The ranch has been passed around the family with no one showing any interest, that was until Josephine.
She is going to rebuild it to its former glory.
The first thing Josephine did was harvest the prairie grass. It would come in handy later.
She then decided to rescue her first horse. Hay Now! Equestrian Center was the place to go.
Josephine rescued a colt named Noir. His traits were Needy, Free Spirit and Defiant.
The days past in a blur and Josephine occupied herself with local jobs, like training a neighbor's horse, and working with Noir. With the little money she had saved up, she used it to purchase Clara, an all white horse, that was also Needy like Noir but also Intelligent and Energetic. The two kept her busy.
It was also Josephine's first time mounting a horse. She had a lot to learn still.
@Luclylu - Josephine is doing so well. Ha! Ha! I love that end of your 2nd up-date, and then her Ranch Hand stepped in. A possible love interest? So, having Umber Grove's child and her horse is preggers too. lol

I was shocked when he stepped in, like what in the world is going on right now! Yup, a new baby foal and an unplanned pregnancy. I had planned for marriage and then a baby once she’s an adult but the game is always throwing curveballs.
This update is small and does have a lot of time jumps because I was doing a lot of the same things over and over. Really enjoying this challenge and the Dude Ranch is slowly coming a long. The stable has doubled in size and the house has been built. Only the main floor is complete with private living quarters for the Taylor family.
Josephine is still seeing Umber but she's being extra careful now.
Moondust aged up! There are still only four horses on the Ranch and no more will be added because it's a lot.
Josephine had a daughter and named her Annabel Taylor. Her infant trait was Wiggly.
Annabel aged up with the Inquisitive trait.
Kentucky and Josephine on a late night ride through the fog.
Fall is fast approaching with the weather changing to more rain and less clear night skies.
Josephine has also added the first camp to the Ranch. The public showers and outhouse will be a shared area.
Josephine also entered into the next stage of life.
She has been so occupied with Clara, so she can place at the Ultimate Horse Championship, that she's been neglecting the training with the other three horses. Once she places, she will sell Clara who's current value is $36,000.
Before long Annabel was celebrating another birthday. They grow up so fast.
Just like her mother, Annabel received the Loves Horses trait.
@Luclylu - Great progress. And congrats on the birth of Annabel and her aging up to child. Yes, I found that when you have a lot of horses on the ranch, that it is hard to take care of them all. I sent them off for a lot of training. lol Nice camp spot that I can see in the background. You're doing great!

Thanks! It defiantly is. Three seems to be the perfect amount, especially if one is a foal. You can send them off for training? Thanks! The Ranch is so close to being finished! Now to work on a few other things and then I will finish the challenge. This challenge has defiantly got me back into playing but not sure about my other saves just yet, enjoying the ranch expansion, so maybe start another one after this.
We said goodbye to Kentucky and received $12,200 I think.
Being the daughter of a rancher, it was time for Annabel to learn to ride a horse.
Garden received a small makeover and used to make Nectar.
Campsite #2
Also added a little outdoor movie viewing areas (expect it breaks in the rain) and a make-your-own Nectar station.
SUCCESS!
The Champion Rider aspiration is now complete.
It was time to say goodbye to Clara. The total Josephine received was $52,810 for the champion.
Time to start on the Dreaded Caravan Walkthroughs (I had to google what it was).
Seriously Umber. Josephine raised her and his last interaction with Annabel was when she was an infant.
Meet Spaghetti, Annabel's horse.
Goals
1. Build a ranch house with a minimum of 4 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms.
2. Build two horse pastures. One for the riding horses to live in and one for the young stock you are training up for sale.
3. Build a barn with at least 4 stables.
4. After 4 weeks has passed: Own at least three horses at all times. Yes, one or two can be foals you are raising. But you should always have a riding mount for yourself.
5. Build a total of 3 [including your starting site] campsites for the hardier vacationers with the following: Tent or sleeping bag(s) / Picnic table / Grill or firepit (you do not need 3 outhouses. The starting one you placed in the beginning is enough for all.)
6. Complete the Dreadhorse Cavern adventures.
7. Find and/or craft one of each type of Nectar available. - Missing two
8. Have a ranch lot value of at least 100k.
9. Someone in your house/family must: Master the Horse Riding skill.
10. Someone in your house/family must: Master the Nectar Making skill.
11. Someone in your house/family must: Max the singing or guitar skill.
12. You should try to do a guided Trail ride once a week (minimum)
13. Make it a family-run dude ranch - Get married & raise at least one son or daughter to carry on when you are old. - One child, not married
14. Ultimate Goal of all is...have fun!
Sorry I'm so quiet lately. I got pulled into playing another challenge and it has me captive. I should be playtesting still but the temptation was/is just too great.

Thanks! Such a great challenge that allows further playing of the new expansion. I didn't even know what the Dreadhorse Cavern adventure was until I googled it! I would of gone forever without knowing that.

Update 1
Howdy everyone.

The ranch has been passed around the family with no one showing any interest, that was until Josephine.

It was also Josephine's first time mounting a horse. She had a lot to learn still.
But with practice she was getting there.
Update 2
Competition results, a baby and a lot of unexpected things.
Josephine and Clara started entering into barrel racing competitions.
Training for jumping is next but Clara is more a barrel racing horse.
Noir is Josephine's baby.
Lots of competitions completed and most were 1st place. Which has boosted their income.
I didn't understand the sell horse concept but seeing Clara's value I'm starting to understand.
Maybe once the Championship Rider aspiration is complete Josephine will sell Clara?
Happy birthday Noir!
Meet Kentucky.
He was purchased as a breeding partner but now that Noir aged up, he will probably be one of many horses Josephine trains and sells.
We officially have a barn with 4 stables but that leaves no money for a house, so Josephine sleeps in the barn too.
Making friends.
Clara is officially pregnant.
Umber came for a visit again and there is something going on between the two of them.
She knows she shouldn't, that it is wrong on all accounts because he is married, but the heart wants what is wants. Right?
Josephine is officially the side piece.
Well then.
Josephine is unexpectedly expecting a baby too.
Which has put anymore competitions on hold and stops the steady income of cash prizes Josephine was receiving.
Clara is in labor and Umber is visiting, questioning her about her protruding stomach. Now is not the time Umber.
Introducing Moondust, who is of champion bloodline.
Umber asked Josephine to move in with him but she is not leaving her ranch and horses to go play house with him and his family.
Things were starting to get heated between the two.
Until her ranch hand stepped in.
I was shocked when he stepped in, like what in the world is going on right now! Yup, a new baby foal and an unplanned pregnancy. I had planned for marriage and then a baby once she’s an adult but the game is always throwing curveballs.
Update 3
Train, sleep & repeat = Josephine's life
