Nice to have interactive parked cars, don't care if they're drivable
@GalacticGal I just don't feel that a comparison with Sims 3 is apt. In Sims 3 there were large open worlds with plenty of places to drive to. Depending on how far away you were going, a drivable car could be a major time saver. In that game play context, a car is definitely valuable, arguably essential. Sims 4 is different. We have neighborhoods, which are much smaller. There are very few neighborhoods that give you any place to go far enough for it to make sense to drive a car there.

Need interactive parked cars, don't care if they're drivable
I would like to have the buildable car from Sims 2 back, with all the interactions you could do in it. I don't see the point of them driving, but it could be a teleport location to use in addition to your phone.
Would be nice to have drivable cars with parked interactions
I would love to have drivable and interactive cars, but it's not a must have. I support those who really want them though.
The reason I don't feel they're a must have is the way the worlds are constructed. The worlds and their individual neighborhoods feel tiny and close together. I have to imagine them being big. In comparison TS3's worlds were much larger, they felt big without the need to imagine them being big, and cars or mass transit felt like a necessity. Time passed when you traveled across, say Bridgeport, and you needed a car or mass transit to get anywhere quickly. That's how I remember it. I haven't been able to play TS3 since 2020 when I bought this computer so my recollections may be off.

For me it's very much a "nice to have" but definitely not a must. If we get them, cool, if not, I'll be just fine. What I do hope for is the parking interaction, fixing a car up, and being able to drive out and into the driveway instead of sims just disappearing off lot (for this I hope that if we do get cars, the carpool, school bus and taxi also return). I don't need to be able to drive around the neighborhood, but it would be nice.
Moreover, I advise that the cart button must be destroyed!
I liked them in Sims 3 since it was open world and I got to watch them go place to place. I don't like the idea in Sims 4 since it would just take up more time, and we travel by load screen anyway.
That cars weren't in the base game was already ridiculous since it was one of many things that where in Sims 3's base game.
Just as weird that after all these expansions we still don't have pool tables, elevators, spiral stairs, sims with different personalities and at least one full expansion with a more fantastical theme.
And they just keep throwing in stuff that no one asked for, that seems to be the Sims 4 theme considering how highly unpopular some full expansions are. (Eco life.)
Heck, instead of eco life they could have given us a full expansion filled with all those widely requested things that we got very used to having in at least sims 2 and 3, sometimes even sims 1 as well. Even sims 1 had pool tables in the base game.
I loved cars in an open world but I think they would be useless here so its not something that would make me jump to buy the pack. I do like making garages and usually fill up with storage and workbench so it functions more like a shop. If they brought cars to the game, I would like to see them be able to build it like car enthusiasts build classic cars.

Cars is a must to me and I do think we will get them at some point just like infants.
I'm happy however we get them because as a closed world game I mainly expect tons of parked interactions, but I expect them to be drivable as well. I wouldn't be disappointed if they are unable to make them drivable though because of how sims 4 worlds are. I'd understand.
If we were to get motorcycles included hopefully a second sim can ride on the back 😭😭
Please let a sim ride on the back of something be it a horse, a motorcycle, a jetski, or a car hood. 😩
I just hate having my rich sim taking his date out by running to the edge of the lot😂
I guess they are getting steps in but oof.
It's not even like a romantic side by side walk.
Would also love to have him collect designer cars and have other sims work on broken down trucks.
I miss being able to drive and interact with vehicles other than bikes in my game. I absolutely want cars and motorbikes and friggin’ helicopters. And trucks and more boats. And camper vans. Everything functional and fixable and drivable and flyable! I would love it 200%! I want it all!!
Thing is, I would only want them in some of my saves.
I have a couple of historical / fantasy saves and I’d get so annoyed if I saw even one car messing with me mojo. Seeing Cars and certain NPCs in my medieval saves literally drives me up the wall and across the ceiling. At full speed.
In Sims 3 I used to mod out all the cars in my medieval worlds. It was like medieval heaven. Mode of transport: foot, horse or broomstick. Or fly when dead or wee fae.
So if we’re going to get cars they better be optional per world/ household or whatever. I have very, very specific needs.⛽️
I don't really need them in the game; I mean... we can visit any place with just pushing M on our keyboard, right? So I think they aren't really needed for a better game play or an improvement. But for sure I understand that when it comes to the aesthetic ... driving with a car to any place for sure might be an improvement for a lot of players. It's just me... I have never been a car driver (I do have a driving licence, though, I made it last year, but still I don't like driving very much).

I don't know if we can use the entire car theme for an add-on in 2023, because it has become a very political subject. But on the other hand, we have to recognize that it's an everyday tool for many people outside the cities. We can't pretend it doesn't exist
So I thought it would be more appropriate to integrate it into the context of a add-on about travels. After all, many destinations are only accessible by car or motorcycle. If this allows us to bring in garage doors, the driving test function and a nice variety of clutter items focused around car maintenance, I think it's great for house builders.
These days if we brought in cars at last, I can see them mowing down horses everywhere as the routing isn't too good in the game already! I quite liked the old car that had to be repaired though.
I would have preferred Sims Rush hour to go in that direction with rideable cars and racing tracks and playable Sims, instead of the SimCity 5 we got!
I do remember we could choose one of our own Sims to play in Sim Golf. I loved that little game.
They've gone, those geniuses that had those brilliant ideas.
The Sims have always been slightly ahead of the real world. We had same gender marriage in the Sims before it became legal most places. The printed, delivered newspaper was missing from TS4 when it came out, and over the years, newspaper delivery has declined. I'm an elder so I still have a landline, but all of the younger people I know use cell phones. I'm not saying that cars are no longer necessary in the real world, but concerns about global warming and ride and delivery services are beginning to have an impact on automobile ownership. Unfortunately, teleporting won't take its place.

There's alot of interactions you could do with a car placeable. I realize cars on the road might be difficult to add, so I'm fine with the car being used when your Sim is leaving the house to visit a lot (and then they'd have to return on foot, unless there was a way to add a parking spot on the public lots that now which car you used to get there). Of course, that would mean your Sims can't take the car to the job, at least not if you remain on the lot. Shame, when we had a good car system in Sims 2.

I wouldn't want to retrofit lots in existing worlds for cars. I also don't care that much about cars in daily life though I think teaching teens to drive could be interesting. I would like some gorgeous world adapted for cars and sports cars. I said that elsewhere. The average cars could be added and I might use them at times but that wouldn't have a wow factor for me.
I am 50/50 on this. In Sims 4 cars don't matter because in the Sims 3 their main purpose was for travel which was replaced with loading screens. Outside of this I don't see the major desire for cars to be included like before. But I think, cars/trucks/buses, etc, can be added for more a more immersive take for sims 4. I mean seeing a bus pick up your child would be cool or having a type of animation for this, like your child waving at the house goodbye and them waving toward the bus when arriving home. Or just giving them different purpose. Even mentioning them or having the ability to make or work on a car would be cool. Even building a car and then a message popup stating cars have been obsoleted due to "teleportation". I know cars are part of most people life, but I don't think people in general actually have a love for cars. I haven't a clue about the ranch pack, but using/having tractor would be cool for farming.
i would say yes it matters since cars where a part of the sims2 sims3 and would say lots of players would love to have them return in game and as a player i sure do went to see cars return
If you went the sims5 to remain offline feel free to sign this petition http://chng.it/gtfHPhHK please note that it is also to keep the gallery
I don't know if I commented on here before but vechiles matter it's not just about our Sims having cars but it will make the neighborhood more lively like seeing the school bus, the mail truck, the delivery drivers and pizza man, calling an Uber or taxi, taking the bus or waiting at a bus stop. Looking at the neighbors getting into the cars and leaving or coming back from whatever they did that day. Going back to our Sims cars even if it's not drivable we can have a lot of gameplay to make up for like washing the car, sleeping, eating in the car, hang out on the car, listen to music, make out, woohoo, put gas in the car, take the car to the shop, work in the car like Uber or Uber Eats.

I think drivable cars would be a cool addition, although I feel like parked cars could be enough. I hate how in the Sims 4 if you are tell your sim to go home and they are tired it can take a long time for them to get to where the loading screen pops up. If there were parked cars with interactions you could woohoo in them, sleep in them, click on them to travel to another lot and when you are ready to go home click on the car and select go home. Then they walk to the car which isn't that far and you get the loading screen quicker. Drivable cars would be dope though.

TS4 has been around for 10 years, and now adding this basic function is an extravagant hope. Especially, since we have so many maps not created for the ride, they need to choose where to place a large vehicle to start the interaction on the road or off-lot parking. I would like how vehicles work in TS2 and Simnation travel mod by Adeepindigo for more depths of traveling, and they are enormous challenges that another pack for editing the whole map we got is Seasons in 2018, and that's only EP in that year. Now Maxis pours more sources to develop Rene, I am a pessimist for the cars pack.
Nice to have interactive parked cars, don't care if they're drivable
Driving cars everywhere was literally the most boring part of Sims 3 for me. I don't want so much boring in my game. If I want boring routine activity, I have real life for that.
The interactive part of having a car in Sims 2 could be fun. I'd be into that. But I don't need it.
