CS looks like it would be a good place to plop down a pool lot, splash pad or waterpark. If you have Seasons expect CR to be very hot in the Summer Time cause it's a desert world. Sims need a place to cool off granted they can swim in the rainbow 🌈 waterfall river it's still not as fun as a pool.

Ooooo... I like this idea! Some kind of water park with a pool for cooling off might be just the thing needed in the downtown area.... with a western theme to blend it in with the surrounding area.

**mental note to self: add western themed waterpark/pool to build list**

I wonder if horses can play under the Growing Together splash fountains? That would be so cute.

I like the sound of a western themed waterpark/splashpad.

So is it a dance hall (new venue) or is it a nightclub (same old venue)?

Hopefully one of the gurus can clear up the confusion....

I'm pretty sure it's just a nightclub venue. It specifically says nightclub when they hover over the lot before visiting:

    nightclub.jpg

    Okay, thanks for clarifying.

Then why on earth were they calling it a dance hall?

Dance halls are the old-fashioned name for nightclubs (public venues to go and dance to music). Dances might be held earlier in the day too... Like a teen barn dance. Also, those small town, country folk are slower with changin' up the vernacular. If it's not broke, don't fix it.

I would have loved a venue that encourages couple dancing since thats how barn dances here are

but I guess I'll just have to encourage my sims myself

Only four lots bigger then 30x20, and only two really big ones, that's quite surprising. I don't remember if I said it here or in some other thread, but I remember being at least 99% sure that this world would come with more 64x64, 50x50 or at least 50x40 lots, similar to Henford-on-Bagley. Not that I'm complaining (much), I personally prefer smaller lots for most households, but if you want a real farm with chickens, cows and/or llamas in addition to horses, space is going to be an issue.

What annoys me more is that the 64x64 lot just has to be the empty one. So much space to fill, so little building and landscaping skills... oh my Dog! I can already tell that this lot will stay empty in my game for a long time.

As for the rest of the world, I quite like what I'm seeing. It's still not the kind of desert world I always wanted, but the canyon neighbourhood gets pretty close. Too bad it only has three lots, I'll have to be careful when picking the lucky households that get to live there. Not really a fan of the town centre, but it will grow on me, I'm sure.

Haha at craving for bigger lots but leaving the 64x64 empty once it's there :)

You might fix it by moving a building from another lot, and just add some extras if you feel like filling the space. It doesn't take much building skill to save another build to your library, then schmock it down on the 64x64.

While I too expected more lots a tad larger than 30x20, if not huge, but I think my computer specs will be grateful as smaller lots in the neighborhood often means less lagging. I'd rather have my horses make use of whatever is left of my processor, than my neighbors having more land than my rancher :)

To clarify: I didn't say I wanted many big lots, just that I expected them based on the pack theme, that's all. No self-contradiction there. And I would have liked for the 64x64 lot to have a building on it, especially if they were made by game changers, because anything I might bring over from elsewhere might not fit the theme of the neighbourhood, and my favourite builder (lilsimsie) usually avoids big lots just like I do.

could always move one of those houses on smaller lots to the bigger lot and then you just have to build smaller lot ;)

@Simmingal Yes, I do that a lot, but then I feel compelled to do some landscaping and stuff because I can't just leave the empty spots empty, and that in turn leads to me pulling my hair out because I'm not good at landscaping either. Oh well... We'll see if I even need the 64x64 lot to be residential. Someone will surely build a beautiful horse park and upload it to the gallery so I can place it in my game.

@GrumpyGlowfish, I was hoping for some 50x40 lots like we have in Cottage Living as well. I plan to combine the horses with my farm animals so would be nice to have bigger lots. I have been building on 30x30 and 40x30 with the hope of placing on larger lots and adding to it. However, I think I can get away with keeping those sizes as well but will probably need to limit some animals. I guessed at the sizes needed for the horses, so fingers crossed my plans will work. I will probably use the 64x64 for a larger ranch and don't think I will have any problems filling it with the animals, horses, gardens and adding an area for the horses to roam and practice their skills. I can't wait to get started with updating my builds for the Western lifestyle! My Henford farms will probably have horses added as well.

Do you think Galloping Gulch will have a different climate zone than the two lower hoods? I am not familiar with this kind of environment in RL, but I'd assume it to be more dry and perhaps more chilly up in the mountain. No idea what those zones are named, Arid or sub-arid? The world seems way less desert than Oasis Springs.

I believe the stream said that the top gulch area was "arid" and so I'm thinking hotter. I actually just created a pool/splash pad area for the 20x20 up there, as I figured sims and their dogs would want to cool off!

Exactly !! How are you even supposed to fit a horse on a 20x15 lot ?? it makes no sense. I can't even fit a family home with a backyard on that !! It that was just the one lot, I wouldn't have an issue with it, but most of the lots are 20x30 and under.

I do wish there were a few more 30x40 lots rather than so many 20x30 and smaller ones in this pack. I normally like 20x30, but that just seems a bit small to own a horse. I guess I will see when I get the pack.

By leaving the largest lots empty, people with slower machines can leave them empty, and people with the faster machines can build grand things there. I had no lag issues until the last Windows update. Something is messed up, now. I usually have Roaringbug's Pagoda Library on Komorebi Point, but right now, just removing that single building makes it easier to snowboard.

Leaving the largest lots empty is a smart choice. I now know that from personal experience.

I always look at the hashtag for the lot on the Gallery, if you want buildings that fit the world. (For the most part)

@catloverplayer Yup. I *think* my laptop meets the minimum requirements; just not sure of video card & shaders.

hmm it seems like its the trailer lady who has to move out of lot i meant to use for Kine Society

if stable lot type can be residential I'll probably change it to be her house +the stable and have her live there

At least the trailer lady exists in the game. In the past few years, there was this strange trend that the cool-looking trailer protagonist(s) wouldn't appear in the finished game, or you'd have to go out of your way to find them. Unfortunately, my two favourite characters from the second Horse Ranch trailer (the redhead and his fiery horse) don't seem to be among the premades. :(

Doesn't change the fact that the world looks awesome, though. I'm really into the canyon neighbourhood especially, even though I take issue with its name. I get it, alliterations are cool, but Galloping Gulch? That sounds so... dirty... :D Never mind. If that's my biggest problem, I should be fine. Can't wait to play with this pack, I might even get it for my birthday. :#

Well a gulch is by definition “a narrow steep sided ravine” so it would kind of fit with being in a canyon area.

There once was a racehorse named Gulch. His sire was Mr Prospector.

yeah I'm glad she is around at least 😂

I took look at that video with lots and I feel like you can quite easily move her to the stable lot as theres not much interesting stuff on her original lot besides the obvious

I'll probably just remove the upstairs bar on stable lot and add bedroom and bathroom for her there maybe office if I can squeeze it in

then i just need grill or something for food i think there was grill on that lot (or then i just was seeing so many grills everywhere )

could probably also add basement if i really need nectar stuff or whatever
