Yes, I make sure to get the reward because I don't want to miss out on this one time offer
I don't like this practice, but since I'm a completionist, I got all the rewards anyway. I'm such a shallow person. EA has me wrapped around its finger.
No, I don't feel the need to buy the EP sooner for the reward. I can wait
I prefer to wait for bug fixes and sales. I don't have the budget to buy EPs at full price, even if they did release bug-free. These early buyer rewards being introduced later into the game and not being a thing since the beginning of TS4 is a change I personally don't like at all. It's FOMO marketing. I'll still get the pack on sale later, but this just puts a bad taste in my mouth.
It doesn't apply because I get EP right at or right after release anyway, with or without early buyers incentive
It doesn’t apply to me or bother me at all. I always buy the packs I want on release day except a few that I didn’t necessarily want but got them when they went on sale. There have always been incentives for people buying things like discounts, gift with purchase etc etc and not just in video games. People aren’t going to stop buying it so companies aren’t going to stop doing it. At least they give you about 5-6 weeks. They could just say pre-orders only which I find to be the case with most game franchises. I wouldn’t even be mad if they did that (and before anyone gets upset no I’m not saying that’s what they should do).
I’m not mad that people got the plumbob moodlet lamps for owning ts3 content but by the time I had time to focus on ts4, the promo was unavailable. It’s an incentive, a thank you, a whatever you want to call it. Congrats to those that got them.
A store ran out of free birthday gifts for the month by the time my birthday rolled around, I shop there all the time and spend thousands a year, I didn’t get upset or threaten to never shop there again. Just told myself I’d try a different location, be quicker next year or place an online order this year to get it.
I like the bonus content and will continue to purchase early to get it if I’m interested in the pack. But I won’t gripe about it and hope they stop it for everyone just because I can’t get it or it doesn’t appeal to me in that moment. That’s selfish.
No, I don't feel the need to buy the EP sooner for the reward. I can wait
Not at all, the only 2 things that influence any stuff purchase I can do are the interest that I may have in the object of the purchase (in our case a game content pack of any kind/size) and the money availability in my pocket.
Feel free to call me J.R., all my friends call me in that way.
EA is such a horrible entity. It makes me cross. Stuff like this is why. They are not in this biz for kindness though. They promote inclusion which is good but leave some people out because of greed.
A fully functional roller coaster, mechanical bull, fixer upper car, or pool table? Yes.
A re-skinned guitar, bicycle, rocking chair, tree, or baby carrier? Nope.
That being said, these early bonus items are neither here nor there to me, in particular, because I've yet to meet an expansion/game pack I didn't like and want in my game ASAP anyways. *shrug*

It really has no impact on if I purchase the pack sooner or not packs I'm interested in that I think have value like Growing Together I get on release the bonus content has no effect while packs like Horse Ranch that has little value to me I don't care about horses or wine making so I'm getting it on sale for build buy and the new dance if I get it at all.
If they really wanted to get people like me to preorder they would add a new game play object not just recolors reskins I'm good on rocking chairs and guitars not like I can make a band anyway.
Sims 4 went from "You Rule" to "One of the stories we want you to tell"
For me it depends on if it's a pack I'm really interested in and I like the reward items. I wanted Cottage Living & Growing Together right away, it's my style of gameplay and I liked the reward items. I waited on High School Years because it didn't interest me as much and I didn't care about the reward items with it.
I'm sorry but if you have to pay to get something it isn't a gift.
If you have to be around at particular time to get something it also isn't a gift.
if you are told to go today to store to get free watermelon
and after that day watermelons won't ever be available to you if you don't go
it isn't a gift.
If they won't stop this exclusive nonsense
I wish they would at least make the items available for purchase after the promotion and keep them available
because what is the point of adding item in game people can't have
other than ofcourse make money off the fomo and make everyone upset in the process
It doesn't apply because I get EP right at or right after release anyway, with or without early buyers incentive
I rarely buy anything for myself, so if I see a book I want or a game I usually get it. I enjoy my games and look forward to new content when it comes out so don't typically wait unless I can't afford it at the time. If I am not interested in the pack itself, I would not buy it regardless of the free content incentive.
It doesn't apply because I get EP right at or right after release anyway, with or without early buyers incentive
I abhor this practice! I am going to buy everything immediately no matter what, but I don't like having access to things that others do not have. It is bad enough that console players have no access to the mods that I use most, even people playing vanilla don't all have access to the same things.
I came into Sims 4 late, so I am missing years of reward items myself, but have reward items that others do not have. Vanilla comes in different flavors I guess.
No, I don't feel the need to buy the EP sooner for the reward. I can wait
The pre-order items are always build objects and since I'm not a builder I can live without, I mainly download lots from the gallery anyway.
Now if the pre-order items were CAS assets it would have been a different story, but I get why they don't make them CAS assets cause objetcs are pretty interchangeable, CAS assets MAKE the Sim and it would be hard to download Sims from the gallery if they include limited assets that no many people have. If it wasn't for the gallery then it wouldn't be a big deal probably, Sims 2 and 3 did that and it was fine cause they didn't have an in-game gallery.
I generally buy all packs shortly after release, unless there is a large influx of problems detailed by other simmers who already bought. Then I will wait for fixes, regardless of extra item offers.
However, if buying early then it does influence where I buy the pack. If I want the particular items that are on offer then I will buy from EA at the full price. If I don't want them, I will buy at a discounted price from CD Keys (who, unfortunately, don't include the extras).
At this point, I'm not sure the 3 items are worth an extra £13... I can get the whole pack for either £23 or £35.... hmmmm.... methinks it'll probably be a CD Keys purchase this time around.
No, I don't feel the need to buy the EP sooner for the reward. I can wait
Nope. Packs are always released with so many bugs, preordering isn't worth it to me, with or without a few reskinned extras. Also, if I installed a new pack on release day, I'd have to play without mods for a while because they always take some time to get updated, and I don't want to play without them.
Whether or not I buy a pack is based solely on 1) User reports regarding bugs or other issues and 2) Whether or not I actually want the pack. Rewards are not something I'm swayed by at all.

I think the early purchase incentives are really mean to people that can't afford to pay full price for a pack. I don't think it should continue, personally. I missed out on the ones from High School Years because I was waiting for them to fix the bugs, and I really wanted the bluetooth speaker item. Now it's just gone forever.
It doesn't apply because I get EP right at or right after release anyway, with or without early buyers incentive
I usually buy the packs on release dates so not really an issue.
Although I have missed out on freebies from other games I play as I wasnt interested in spending money on certain things so I would say I enjoy free gifts but it doesnt alter my buying behaviour all that much!
No, I don't feel the need to buy the EP sooner for the reward. I can wait
I don't mind the extras offered to early buyers. Normally they are objects I won't use a lot anyway. When CoL was announced I was very tempted by the bicycle with the flower bag - would get the pack on release anyway, though. Funny to look back and realize that I hardly ever used that particular bicycle, LOL. For the Horse pack I assume I won't get it until Fall/Winter anyway, because I am behind with packs and can't play as much as I would like to this July/August anyway. So I'll miss out on the extras, but hey-ho, I'm fine with that.
Yes, I make sure to get the reward because I don't want to miss out on this one time offer
I picked Yes but was leaning towards other. I'm a completionist. Part is FOMO, part is from the OCD and other things. The Sims is a collection to me and part of me wants to make sure I have everything. As long as I'm not putting myself in financial straits to do it.
Right now I only don't have a few kits. In truth I wasn't even going to get any kits bc I kind of hate them. The very concept of them is awful tbh. But some instincts can only be fought so long. So even I'll get the latest ones. At least they aren't that bad.
I think these pre-order things honestly are awful. And remind me too much of previous EA behavior. Idk how many of you have the family portrait from when the Sims Mobile first came out. But I don't. And not because I wasn't playing. I literally got in to play the early release, and then the official one. Nope it was because they had crap linking systems. And that portrait kept going in and out of my account. Still had Grimm's guitar, missed one other thing that was limited time from back then, and my portrait has been playing hide and seek for a decade. To the point I forget about it until I see CC verisons in let's plays.
But I think that subconsciously makes me even more determined when I see these. Because they don't make it something you can get later. And just like that portrait, it's something every player is entitled to, but only if they do what they want when they want. So it leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. But at the same time I want the cool thing. What if it's just as cool as the portrait, what if it's better?
But I so think I'll stop with the Sims 4. Hearing that project Rene is free with a pay to play structure sets me off a bit. And feels like these pre-orders and kits were probably how they were feeling us out for that. That's one collection I definitely don't want to fulfill. Just fix your app so my Sims 3 content shows up again. And I'll stick with what I already paid for.

These particular rewards? I am not impressed, so no.

(But the "bonus" for that is that usually the worst bugs are all fixed by the time I am able to buy it).

Frankly, I greatly dislike the limited time preorder bonuses. It feels slimey.
