@CAPTAIN_NXR7 - My partner and I go to a lot of metal shows! I have been to see Mayhem, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, god I can't even remember a small list of them because I'm really sick right now. Anyway. We go regularly to concerts. It's aggravating me that I can't remember more of the bands. But I really am very sick so it makes sense. Also. My partner used to play the cello, he collaborated with Les Discrets and wrote and played the cello part for some of their music back in the day. You should look them up if you haven't already heard of them. He also was in some bands like Ancient, he is on their wikipedia page under his stage name. Toured across various continents and stuff.

I would love to have a cello in addition to the violin, for sure, and I would love to be able to have metal bands - we already have the dj element, which I absolutely adore.
All my daily trances, and all my nightly dreams, are where thy grey eye glances, and where thy footstep gleams.
I dance to the beat of my own drum, no matter how measured or far away.
I do love a road. You can always be wondering what is at the end of it.

@fujicakes1 I'm very sorry to hear you're sick - wishing you a speedy recovery! 🍀 Hopefully those band names will come back to you soon!

Fair play to your partner for getting to experience different parts of the globe as a touring musician! No I'm not jealous. Today is the first time I heard of "Les Discrets" but I'm glad I did! I'm exceptionally terrible at French (jibber-jabber French is a different story), but I must say that the band produces some really beautiful sounds that are right up my alley, at least one of my many many dark alleys... :D

I just remembered a post rock band from Dublin called 3Epkano that I used to follow around a bit in the early 2000's (when everybody else was playing Sims) . What they did was they performed original live scores to silent movies including Nosferatu, The Cabinet of Dr.Caligari, Metropolis and other fabulous films from the silent era. Usually these gigs took place in medium sized rooms inside castles or other historical buildings and it was really just three lads and a girl playing drums, guitar, bass, violin, keys and ofcourse, cello. These audio visual live performances made a huge impact on me back then, every single time. Really powerful. It's a pity the band no longer performs.
A song would typically start off quietly before it slowly transformed into this epic, instrumental rock piece.
    Sample in spoiler below:

Anyway, what were we talking about again?

YES, OFCOURSE! Grim and Co need their own, dead-icated reaper pack which should also include a new harvestable: SOULS!!👻

Actually excited for this, AND YES! to a playable reaper! I remember being annoyed back in the day when it lost out to laundry(TBH Laundry is one of my most used packs) and would be over the moon if they explored it. I'm generally I guess a "realistic" player but even I am getting tired of the mundane Farmville slice-of-life packs. I WANT CHAOS!!! Will be keeping a close watch on this pack's development.

Me too, Laundry day literally adds 0 gameplay, the clothes already magically cleans themselves whenever Sims shower in Base Game, why waste resources on a stupid laundry pack that solely exists to be redundant,

a Grim Reaper pack would've been a 1,000 times better, I'm still salty about it, heck The Laundry pack winning is just as bad as when Nifty Knitting of all things got one.
  • DarrellRBeebeDarrellRBeebe Posts: 663 Member
I voted for Nifty Knitting because it was presented as an Arts and Crafts pack with other things like a pottery wheel, etc. And then it got whittled down to ONLY knitting and while I'm always happy with new hobby-style activities, even I was pretty displeased. I guess I should have known better than to trust they wouldn't dumb down a stuff pack after the "Eco Living" pack won and it became laundry. Honestly, I play games to escape chores, why would I want digital chores?!?
That being said, if the Grim Reaper pack had won, you better believe that half the features that were advertised would've been weeded out and we would have been disappointed with it anyway. Maybe this way, if they do ever design a Grim Reaper Game Pack, it would have all the elements that made it sound so enticing in the first place.

Yes please to all of it!

I'd love to see it all set in a an eerie foggy swampy bajou world. Complete with voodoo curses, a celebration of the dead parade/festival with traditional trumpets and saxophones, and a mausoleum with a secret entry into some kind of hidden underworld. It could give us great cross-pack compatibility with the paranormal stuff pack, werewolves, vampires, and spellcasters.... all congregating in the same world, all trying to keep the peace.... but can they succeed?

Anne Rice meets Bram Stoker meets Stephen King.... what could possibly go wrong? :D

I’d love an eerie swamp world, I can imagine this being like Sulani, bayou style, in which we can build swamp houses and have swimmable swamps. Just dirt roads and lots of swamps. I’m reminded once again about the voodoo inspired concept art the sims team shared/ leaked a long time ago. I must find it and post it here for inspo. It’s awesome!

I'd love a swamp world, complete with some quicksand to trap unwary Sims. Rescue your friends! Wave bye bye to your enemies! LOL

I liked the Grim Reaper in all Sims inlcuding the last. But sorry, I never saw the point of the ghost characters, and playing with them is sounds even more ridiculous. Just because of that one kit, the whole game would turns into a halloween sytle. This will be a problem for those who want to buy the complete game later, and not into this topic.

And that would be THEIR problem to deal with. There's a lot of elements and features in the game currently that I don't give two cares about *cough* laundry *cough* but I bought the pack it came in anyway because the CAS and some of the build/buy appealed to me. And guess what? I just ignore the features I don't wish to use. I don't tell someone they can't have something they want in the game just because I don't want it.

@CAPTAIN_NXR7 I just posted a Malice Mizer music video in the music thread and it occurred to me that you may like them. If you haven't heard of them, they are a Japanese band, very dramatic performances, gothic style, sort of baroque-style instrumentals, very cool. Anyway here is the video, if you are interested.

I hope so too! A few gurus mentioned that Happy Haunts got nearly as many votes as knitting and this is probably also why Paranormal followed not “too long” after. Paranormal only includes a small selection of the features advertised, the difference is that it doesn’t have any of the Grim Reaper career elements ( which is the main reason I voted for that pack) but I was also quite happy about it not winning since a mere “stuffpack” couldn’t possibly do our pal Grim any justice. That said, Paranormal is my absolute favorite Stuffpack with Nifty coming in a close second, and this comes from a guy who’s only ever used a knitting needle to try and unblock a drainpipe (I’d advice against it btw, there are better tools for that) aye - and to get hoodie drawstrings back into hoodies!
I will forever be hugely impressed by folks that can sculpt clothes and other items out of wool with a simple pair of needles.

I bought Nifty mainly for the rocking chair and the METAL station (+ air guitar) but I must admit that sims knitting cosy jumpers and knee - high socks and stuffed turtles and….mailbox cosies…is one of the most wholesome things to watch in TS4. Plopsy is quite popular too, at least with some of my sims. The others just swindle for credits in order to survive. No big deal.

It’s a shame that occult packs have been few and far between, because they’re so good. At this stage you’d think us occult players are sort of expected to be immortal beings too, given the length of time we have to wait for occult fantasy type content to arrive. Now, I shouldn’t complain too hard yet since Werewolves was only released about a year ago, but I wonder what the next occult themed pack will be before we have to wait another decade. Could it be fairies, could it be Grim ? Could it be both?! It’ll be something , surely? I really hope “Happy Haunts part II” is already in development as we speak, and it most certainly deserves a full Gamepack. 🖤🪦

    Thanks for sharing!

Now that’s a selection of outfits I’d welcome in my game! I’d love me some mad hatter and evil clown attire and cloaks! How is it that we don’t we have cloaks yet, and tattered top hats and Victorian style lace up boots for both males and females?! This would go nicely with a Grim Reaper Career pack; I’d want all my gravedigger sims to look in their Sunday best! 🎃

    As for the music:
I’m afraid this piece doesn’t resonate with me at all. I’m going to sound a little dramatic here:

I can listen to any genre, but not just any song… I’m someone with very sensitive hearing which, consequentially, makes me a terribly picky listener - I listen with my entire body, music is like oxygen to me (I get it, yawn) but this has also given me a very special ability to break into a wild dance at any given -and every so often embarrassing- moment -FUN!!
However, I can get physically uncomfortable when certain frequencies don’t really vibe with me - the body knows what it wants - and this performance ain’t it. Sorry!

That’s not to say that these guys aren’t talented musicians - I can hear they are, and I appreciate anyone who is adapt at playing an instrument- alas, If I cannot feel the song or if it’s making it difficult for me to visualize some kind of scene or narrative or world or whatever, it’s over for me and off goes the sound switch. Silence I welcome you. Maybe their other songs are more suited to my taste, who knows?😌

Yes please to all of this!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 we so totally need a pack like this! I want to love ghosts but they need a serious upgrade as well and should definitely be more creepy!
And I agree with @Thornwillow about and eerie creepy world! I have been waiting on that since the start of sims 4 lol.
There are so many things they could do with this. A creepy dark cave like world with tunnels and caves. Or a haunted silent hill style ghost town. Or an apocalyptic destroyed world. I dream of a swamp world that's Murkey, dark, foggy and creepy oh my! 🥺 at this point we have not one fantasy world or creepy world for supernatural and fantasy sims.
Moonwood mill is the creepiest we got so far when compared to everything else, but not quite what I have in mind.

I'm not into the death thing and I never kill sims or let them die because I'm attached to them. But death in sims has always been preventable, and I've brought sims back to life as well so I wouldn't even be worried about that.
There are certain non main sims I kill for story telling purposes so I would absolutely love funerals! And I would play the heck out of a reaper career because my supernatural sims need supernatural jobs and activities.
My evil vampire or my crazed werewolf being a doctor and knitting socks just doesn't cut it 😅😅
I really want to get into more of the fantasy/supernatural side of things with my occults but the reality is that we just don't have much for them. We do have the paranormal investigator career but I want my evil sims to be the CAUSE of paranormal activity, not the relief of it 😂
Zombies, oh please oh please give us zombies!! :'(

@Occultmaster Yes, please! It'd be perfect get red, white, black (the current one looks more greyish) and other color variations (see Gauntlet's CC) not only for Grim's oficial robe, but also the costume and the hood (it's a suffering not being able to use it in different looks because not everything works with a black hood).

    Honestly lol
So I have VERY bad migraines that I have to get botox for, but before I started getting botox, for years I was so sensitive to sound that I couldn't watch movies, tv, listen to podcasts, listen to music - except for certain music. Metal actually was soothing to me. Anything with any sort of high pitched frequency set off a migraine that could last for days. Something as simple as a "hot line bling" hehe or a coin dropping. I hope that's not the case with you. If so, I am SUPER sorry, and I hope that you look into botox!! If it's just that their music is - well, difficult to swallow - they are a pretty far-out band that is kind of inaccessible to a lot of listeners, I'm afraid. I think the first music video of theirs that I posted was "Ma Cherie" because it is a bit more palatable than the others to the general public, but - definitely a niche band. Les Discrets is pretty niche too, I think, it's just in..in your niche lol. It's kind of like, I guess lol, I was wanting to send my friend a Health video after we went to the Health / Perturbator concert awhile back (one of the best shows we have ever been to btw), and I asked my partner which one to send, he said it was difficult because not all of the songs are super palatable to the newcomer. I honestly don't see why on that one though, why that wouldn't be palatable. I listen to a lot - a LOT - of different types of music though, and I have since I was a kid - for example I used to get made fun of for listening to pop, but my first concert was Slipknot! and when triphop was a thing, I was all about it, the list goes on forever - and I think that having such a wide range of music interest may not be the norm. I totally get having selective taste on some things, though. For example lol, I have pretty selective taste in men - I broke up with my childhood boyfriend because he got a haircut, and I joke with my partner that if he cuts his long hair, I mean, there is precedent. ;)

Also! About the clothes! Yes, I mentioned this in another thread about gothic stuff! They are what they call "elegant gothic lolita," combining Victorian-inspired visual kei and gothic lolita. Very cool, to me.

The Sims Medieval's portrayal of The Grim Reaper is the best in the franchise in my opinion, but what I also love is the early concept art to TS4's Reaper! It's absolutely class and I would love LOVE to be able to choose from several CAS outfits inspired by these:

I also found the Voodoo themed concept art I mentioned earlier in this thread ⬇️:
Notice Paranormal's "Sacred Candles" and the crystal ball. I hope the rest will also find its way into the game at some stage! It's all so beautifully dark. >:)

music blabber no one asked for but
I feel like its so hard to find good metal, punk, rock etc. these days

its like people forgot bass is instrument that exists and that everything doesn't have to be "sung" in emo screamo tones

then if they remember bass is instrument they go too dang pop and forget all the other instruments exist

that or they get stuck in some set formula and don't experiment with other genres than their main genre and its boring

Have you heard Ice Nine Kills? Kind of...metal-core. I mean it's a lot of screaming but I like it lol. Maybe check out Welcome to Horrorwood or something. Or Torche? For metal. Bad Omens is pretty good for hardcore / industrial core. There are really a lot of bands that I like but...like I said earlier lol, I like a lot of music. But, you know, a ton of older bands are still touring and making new music!! 70 years old and still tearing up the stage.

All of this! And in red and violet and ghoulish green, too! I'd love a variety of deep, jewel tones for Grim and goth outfit choices.

I remember that voodoo room and I want - nay - I yearn for the ghastly gloriousness of it all. 🖤

    Botox?

I didn't realize Botox is used for treating migraines and other medical conditions. I'm glad this works for you! I can't imagine the distress that's caused by cluster headaches, but I do know a couple of people who have it and it's no joke.
Fortunately I do not suffer from migraines (*touches wood*) so I suppose I do not require Botox treatments.
I assume I have an undiagnosed form of hyperacusis...probably. Noisy power lines, bad wiring, old tv sets, ultrasonic devices such as mosquito/ teen repellents...some Japanese bands...these are all pretty detrimental to my mental well being. I've had it since I hit puberty, and although I'm well past the ages of puberty now, the anti loitering devices still have that desired effect on me. :D
I do spend a lot of time in the great "white noise" outdoors to make sure I'm not going absolutely mental, so there's that. Good 'aul nature is the ultimate cure.

    *hugs tree*
