Funny/weird things that happened in your game without you controlling it?

«1
Sorry if there's already a thread for this, I've tried to look it up and didn't find a recent one.

I've seen a lot of people complaining on other forums that the sims are useless on their own and they always have to control them. Well, I see it the other way. Somehow nowadays my sims are unpredictable, even when I try to make them behave like I want the storyline to go, so at this point I'm just sitting back and enjoy the ride.

So let's see a few examples (sorry, it's probably gonna be long):

I started with a teen girl who quickly had a crush on a fellow classmate and it was mutual. They started dating, became partners, had fun together but somehow never developed a soulmate status. I like my sims to have a lot of friends so they can have fun gatherings, grow up "together" etc. So after a while my girl and her BF's best friend started to fall for each other and flirt all the time - without me controlling their actions. They ended up being soulmates, the girl broke up with the boyfriend, married the other guy and they had a kid. I thought this is it, they'll be a big happy family...but then the girl started to flirt with her ex again and became pregnant. Because I control other households as well, it was always a guessing game when I saw my girl pregnant again - is this child from the father or the lover? (Bc she just kept getting pregnant lol) - One day her husband got a call from the lover that he found a ring (you know the drill) and I decided to tell him to say yes. So now the girl have 2 husbands.
The lover (now husband number 2) is a spellcaster, and out of 3 kids one grow up to be one. I decided to move her out and have her own storyline bc I never really play with spellcasters and I was in the mood. She got a boyfriend and was about to go to prom and have the best day of her life. When she arrived, I didn't see her date so I focused the camera on him and guess what - he was cheating on her. Since she's a spellcaster, I stepped in - Froze the BF and got the girl on fire he was cheating on and then went on to enjoy the prom. This was the moment I decided she is gonna be an evil spellcaster even if I wanted her to be like his father who is wholesome - he is going around the world and resurrecting dead people, etc.
One day she was using the telescope to get her logic skill up and got hit by a meteorite. I'm playing with the Sims since the beginnings and this never happened to me so I was kind of shocked. Luckily his father is a top level spellcaster so he bought her back.

This family and their friends had a lot to happen to them without me stepping in that I already lost count. While they were younger one of his best friends married Ash and died of laughter during the wedding. At this point the "lover" was just a regular guy, so I had to make them reach level 10 gourmet cooking skill and hunt down all the ingredients to bring him back. Now all is well, the guy and Ash have 2 science babies and love each other since ages.

I'm sure this is because of a known bug but my Weddings are always chaotic too, especially if I invite Father Winter. Idk why but he's always flirting with someone - sometimes it's funny but when he's out to get the bride or the groom I have to work really hard to get rid of the "fear of being cheated on" moodlet. Other than Father Winter, it seems like my guests can never behave. It's a beach wedding? No one is watching the ceremony, they prefer swimming instead. Is this a wedding with a bar? Sure, they are getting wasted instead of taking their seats. Is this a celebrity wedding? They get raided by fans and paparazzis. Is there a dress code? 80% of the guests decide to wear to most outrageous clothes.

I'd be able to continue but this is already too long

I can't wait to hear your stories!

I dunno, my sims will run around San Myshuno or Sulani to the various social spots without me realizing it and do a bunch of random things. They also wear clothes that are not in the outfits I created for them. They create their own romantic, friendly, and rivalry relationships. They also woohoo on their own. Plus all of the normal stuff like make beverages, talk to each other, dance, paint, swim, work out, clean, read, play video games, etc. Nothing quite as dramatic as your story yet, at least not that I remember.
All my daily trances, and all my nightly dreams, are where thy grey eye glances, and where thy footstep gleams.
I dance to the beat of my own drum, no matter how measured or far away.
I do love a road. You can always be wondering what is at the end of it.

I had a random townie get in a fistfight with my Ron Swanson because the townie claimed Ron hadn’t repaid him some money! 😄

Sometimes, my sims are not even at home when I would like to play them.

That behavior is not entirely out of my control, though. When I visit a community lot with one of my sims, other played sims show up and do their things. If I then switch to one of those sims, I have to find them at the community lot without knowing what they are doing there.

I think it's quite interesting to see with who the non played sims shows up at restaurants. If it's family, friends or someone completely random. This happen in my game (the laptop install) about two years ago and it was very random. I had teenage Alexander Goth on a date with his very hot girlfriend (yes she is) and all of the sudden every guest in the restaurant stood up and preformed this "See what's happening" interaction. I'm not sure but even the staff may have looked. And there was a sound like "Ohh" followed by some whisper. And they all stood there staring on this adult woman (a playable in the game) and some totally random sims who must be younger then her and that I'm sure is not related to the family. Even funnier was that the woman made a face like "Oh no, they spotted me..". ;):D

I'm sure that poor guy is cursed, he died again idk how, because when I got the pop up I was to busy to rush there and bring him back to life that I forgot to see his cause of death. :D

@MrManyIdeas Is she a kleptomaniac? That sounds like the kleptomaniac failure interaction, when they try to steal something but fail because other people are around.

Setting the toilet on fire in my most recent game. Not just once but 7 times in the space of a couple of sim days. 😐 Also a sim that I only wanted to have 3 children has had 6. I go off residential lot with one of the other sims that live there, come back and she's pregnant. 😳

I play with autonomy ON, because I like a Full House, as it were. Yesterday, I opened my game to play and as my main character, Erik Cantrell, walked into his kitchen, he passed his wife along the way. I suddenly notice he's got a deep red moodlet, so I opened it to find out he's got a bitter grudge against someone who is nearby. That throws a twist into things.

Oh yes, I only play with full autonomy because this way I never really know what's gonna happen and tbh I had a LOT of funny/sad/weird things in my games that I had no control of and it made it really interesting.

@BethTS4 Father Winter creates the same kind of havoc in my games. More than one happy family holiday has been ruined when Father Winter can't stop flirting with some member of the family.

    Other highlights I remember:
    • A Sim whose stove was on fire decides to play the guitar instead of putting out the fire.
    • An uncontrollable desire to play ping-pong with a random bar patron spoils what could have been a sweet First Kiss for a Sim and her date.
    • Another romantic moment is spoiled when a Sim's mom, best friend, and coworker all decide to stop by--individually--when he and his fiancée had planned a quiet evening in.
    • A Sim won't stop enthusing about discovering the Perch long enough to go to the bathroom, and pees all over himself.
    • More than one Sim has picked their ear and added the wax to the Garden Salad they were preparing.
    • Ghosts and pets winning the Lottery.
    • The best dog ever saves her human from almost certain death. Rohan's Energy level is dangerously low, and instead of going to bed, he decides to Back Float in the pool. Maxie the Mixed Breed doggo jumps into the pool and rouses the foolish human, who climbs out of the pool and crashes on a sofa.

Oh OK, I understand. Yeah, she is a kleptomanic sim so I sort of guessed that. I had full fokus on my dating sims so I have no idea what she did try to steal. 🙂

Marcus Flex, in my game, seems to always be gay. Last year, he ran off with Michael Ball to San Myshuno. When Werewolves released, my save got corrupted. I had to migrate my game over to a new save and all my townies rebooted. So, recently I found that Marcus had moved in with a random spellcaster, last name Strange. I edited the household name to add Marcus so I could find him. It wound up as Strange Flex. 😂

I created three teenagers and had them living together in Willow Creek -- Matthew, his destined wife Blaire, and their mutual friend Angela, who is like a sister to both. Or at least, that was the plan. Instead, Blaire developed a crush on Angela, they autonomously flirted, and became an item -- at least until prom, when Blaire evidently flirted with someone else, leading to she and Angela fighting so much they became enemies and I had to change the house plans a bit so Blaire and Angela were no longer sharing a bedroom. I've never had a full relationship develop, bloom, and then combust like that on its own!

Marcus Flex most often get married to Judith Ward in my games. My MCCC just seems to think they are a good couple. I reckon I’m talking at least nine different saves.

My household contents usually of eight sims. And only Jeb hates his clothes so much, I even made a collection of him ranting 😅 No matter how he's dressed - he complains.
Fun Fact: His partner is co owner of the fashion store in my story and is always near him when he complains! (in the last pic on the left he's lying in his sleeping bag ;))

Androids. You know, robots that look indistinguishable from humans and, depending on the backstory, are also fully sentient? But one thing they cannot do: get pregnant. Yet, when I created my androids, I didn't bother to set them to "can't get pregnant", because there is no autonomous try for baby in game.

Well, and then the game said "Hold my beer"...

Funnily enough, after neighbourhood stories and scenarios came into being, my merman Ikkanu has
    a) occasionally phoned his friends for dating advice about Sims he's never even met, and
    b) Shown an autonomous preference for male Sims every time he has done this. This was before I ever set any romantic preferences for him.
I originally had intended him to be woohoo- repulsed and only romantically interested in women but after so many occurrences of this I decided to make him panromantic instead.

I love the name Strange Flex!

Other weird things that have happened:

-Since putting all four NPC mermadic Sims into one household, my game has spawned new versions of them, and both versions of the Paka'as and Kalamainu'us keep showing up at the gym (in any neighbourhood) every time my played Sims visit.

-Ikkanu's island shaman duties now also seem to include phone relationship advice. He's always getting calls! Mele Kahananui keeps calling him to ask whether she should have a baby. She has now had four babies from three phonecalls (there was one set of twins).

-Many of my Sims have become friends with people they've never even met before (yet forget their own friends and relatives if they move out?? I have neighbourhood stories turned off. This shouldn't be happening.)

    - When my own sims show up as townies, they quite often wear clothes that I have never picked for them and, interestingly, these clothes are the exact opposite of the styles I give them (my brightly coloured, flamboyant Sims will choose really dull, boring outfits and vice versa).
Are they trying to tell me something about my fashion tastes? 😆 (I mean, I know I have no fashion sense but still...)
  • Lenny_OggLenny_Ogg Posts: 3,696 Member

@WhatCobblers the game also dresses my sims in a weird way. But she wasn't even a townie. She was dressed like this after I logged in (but after merging the households). I thought maybe it was because she had no cold weather outfit and checked, but she had. This is so strange.
And like with your Sims, this is an outfit she would never wanted to be seen in 😅

The funniest/weirdest thing that happened in my game lately was during Eve Moss' last pregnancy - her and Adam were at the Awards show, and she picked a fight with him. Their relationship was about 100/100, close dynamic, soulmates and several positive sentiments. Before the show was over, their friendly relationship was about 50....and neither were too happy with the other. They had just been sitting there, interacting with each other - nothing happened that obviously started the "fight", she was just in a pregnancy mood lol. They have Amazing compatibility too.

    @EnkiSchmidt Yes! That is wonderful
@WhatCobblers That is so interesting about the mermaid townies. I wonder if Ikkanu did some magic there. Oh yes, if played sims show up as walkbys when you're playing someone else, and the played sims hang around and chat with NPCs, they will remember the NPC later and maybe even had a good enough conversation to become friends.
