Do you always make basements in your houses?

For the most part, I only use basements when renovating a house. I use it to copy each floor just in case I end up not liking the renovation. If I don't like the renovation, I can just copy and paste the original rooms back to the ground level.

There are some instances I've used them but mostly for bathrooms in community lots.

    I try to.
You never know when you might get a family that's really space hungry.

I put one in the last house I built.

I was just starting to play-test the house with a new family, so it's not furnished completely.

I know a laundry room will be down there.

A few of my sims have basements (or attics), especially those that have earned a lot of money, or are collectors. Many times they have been made later. I do use a lot of basements in community type lots, to add extra things for my sims to do. Space is valuable in the sims 4, and lots are scarce. Even owning all of the packs. I have to say, I do love apartments too though, and wish we got some with each pack.

One of my houses that I've made for practice reasons has a basement, and I turned it into a bar kinda thing with tables, chairs and a dance floor. I was just experimenting, working out how basements can be made, but I like what I did with it. Where I live basements aren't really a thing, so I'm not sure what I'd put in one that I couldn't put elsewhere in a house, unless it was turned into a kiddie playroom or a gym, as examples.

I very rarely make basements. They are very common where I live in real life, but I dislike playing with them in the sims.

    I prefer calling them dungeons…😈

Seriously though, I’m mad for the basement tool and I utilize it in approximately 95% of my builds to create:
    • Junk/ storage/ rec rooms, cellars, inventor’s workshops or additional living space for my shacks, mansions or ‘modern’ builds.
    • Creepy Crypts and Dungeons complete with mazes, cauldrons and monster pits for my castles and places of worship.
    • Sewage tunnels, bunkers and chemistry laboratories in factories, secret military bases and research labs.

I will always find new ways to implement basements, but I especially love building creepy mazes. To get that more immersive experience I occasionally play in First Person Mode ( I’m still immensely grateful for this free update!!!).
    Basements all the way!

I don't build basements that often, they aren't very common in my country so I usually forget about them. Usually I only build them if there are more rooms I wanted to include in the house but didn't have enough space above ground or wouldn't fit the floorplan, or if it's a more secret room such as a vault in a mansion for example, or if I wanna make a fake underground garage. I usually include a laundry room in my builds, but they're usually located in the ground floor not the basement, since in my country they're usually in the ground floor near the kitchen or near the door leading to the backyard. I do build attics more often though, compared to basements.

To me basements are a sort off "forgotten feature". And when I do add one to a building (any type) it's because I want to add things or rooms but don't have the space to build on the lot.

I have a vampire basement which looks a lot like the pic from @CAPTAIN_NXR7 above. It contains the coffins.

I also made a house for a family who won the lottery and that one contained the big money safe and some of their jungle treasures.

I made a basement without stairs, so that I could store items necessary for a specific lot type, when I didn’t want the sims to actually use those items.

I usually only make basements if I need more room for activities like an at home music/karaoke space, spa/gym, home theatre, games room, labs, workshop, vamp lair and the like.

I often add basements if I have a growing family and run out of room. Often they are teen hangouts or skill building places. Mostly to do with the sims careers or wants, like gym equipment.

No. Only upon occasion. I did place one in my Rock Star's house, a couple of different times. (Long story) The second time I went for it was to leave plenty of room out in the backyard for the outdoor tent thing we were getting for the kiddos. Built a lovely pool in the basement, but that proved highly problematic. Seems fires kept breaking out over the concrete walkway that surrounded the pool. :open_mouth: I really didn't think concrete could catch on fire, but others explained it was the accumulation of dust. Face/palm.

It just dawned on me, that my Alice in Wonderland home is in a basement. I totally forgot it was actually a basement because that's how I build my Wonderland. :p;)

I use basements a lot. On residential lot they usually serve for an extra bathroom and a place for the children to play. For some careers they are also a home office. On community lots they serve to hide what I do not want to put but the game deemes necessary (tv's for example).

I’ve used them for one purpose which is kinda a sims trophy cabinet. Almost as though it’s not even really part of their house but instead part of the game. So their rewards and collections and their photos and things.

Oh also I put that huge cupcake bakery thing in it. But otherwise no. I might actually use one in a build soon though!

Ah yes the enormous cupcake machine. How can you use this in a tiny house or appartment? I also put it in the basement.

It’s funny how ridiculously big it is. Your sim needs a basement to make cupcake! 😂
