It's the day of Nik and Micaela's wedding: they chose an intimate outdoor ceremony at Le Blancs' yard and everything matches the bride's favourite colour, purple.
Guests are starting to arrive and many are already chilling out by the pool, thanks to the sunny and hot day,
Niklaus too decides to relax before the big moment.
Florian talks with one of his grandkids, while keeping a watchful eye on Nik...it seems like he's already taken advantage of the free bar!
Finally the time has come, and everyone gathers around to attend Nik and Micaela's wedding!
A very simple yet touching ceremony and now.....everyone is ready to partyyyyyyyy!!!!
Isabella seems to have taken a liking on the chef Melinda hired for the wedding, Andrea, and she begins to have a little chat with him about food, recipes, and gourmet cuisine...
Andrea: "So you are telling me you know how to cook an herb-crusted salmon? But you're only a teenager!"
Bella: "Well, truth is I love cooking, it is my greatest passion and, since I cook every meal in the house, I have a lot of practice!
A: "You should apply for a coooking course, a friend of mine teaches at Oasis Spring University and I'd be happy to put in a good word for you!"
B: "Errr, thanks, but I really have no time right now to be attending a course...much less if it's in another city!"
A: "That's really a pity! You're talented, I am telling you. Well, should you change your mind, here's my number..."
(*author-entry*: love is in the air, tarararara, love is in the aaaaaaair)
A few days later, while packing up for the moving, Micaela makes a happy discovery: she's expecting!
Niklaus is of course over the moon and can't wait to meet his child!
Relatives begin to buzz around, anxiously waiting for the birth of Nik's first child.
Sibilla pays a visit, bringing a cute little cowboy dress for her nephew/niece.
Also Alberto, Penny's son, finds the time in his busy lessons schedule to say "hi" to his beloved grandma and family.
Such a cutie
Then, while everyone is enjoying the palpable joyful atmosphere, something dreadful happens...A scream from the entrance hall makes each family member in the house shiver and tremble. By the time they reach the place the scream was coming from, Florian is laying on the ground, motionless. Standing beside him, a dark and frightening figure is looking down at him....
Everyone is petrified: the dark figure is unmistakably the Grim Reaper, and it's come to take Florian's soul to the afterworld...
Only Melinda finds the courage to plead with the Angel of Death for her husband's life...
Mel: "Oh please, powerful Guardian of the afterlife! Please let my husband live! Just a few more days, so he can see his grandchild!"
Grim: "Dear woman, I can sense your heart is pure and good and full of love, and you surely know that I do not enjoy my task. Yet, someone has to do it, to keep the delicate balance of this world. A life for a life. That's the rule."
Melinda frowns. She knows the Grim Reaper is right, but she cannot bear the thought of her husband gone before seeing this grandchild, his only son's firstborn, THEIR only son's firstborn. She needs to think fast....Looking around, her beloved children are crying their eyes out and seem to be unaware of her conversation with Grim.
She silently says goodbye to each one of them: Penelope, her wonderful and strong eldest daughter; Lorelai, her beautiful and talented girl; Niklaus, her beloved and always smiling son; Virginia, her smart and goodhearted child; Sibilla, her wild and kind daughter; and then, Isabella, her gorgeous and loving little princess, who helped her so much during the difficult days of her illness.
Melinda can feel her heart breaking in tiny pieces which scatter around the room...she imagines to take those pieces and put them inside the hearts of her children.
"There you go, my beloved children. I leave you a little piece of me to comfort you when I'll be gone. I'd rather stay with you to watch you grow into amazing adults, but my time has come, even if a little sooner than expected. Be brave, my darlings. Be kind. And live every day with a smile and a song."
Then, she turns to face Grim and is able to utter just two words: "Take me"
The Grim Reaper seems confused.
G: "I am sorry, but this is not how it works. I can't and I shan't take your life instead of his."
M: "Yes, you can. You see, I am sick and my illness has no cure. I'll be leaving this world very soon anyway. It does not matter to me if it happens a little earlier than expected. Please, dear Angel, accept my request. The request of an old dying woman."
The Grim Reaper is startled by this odd request: it never happened to him that someone would be willing to exchange their own life for another.
"It cannot be done, it cannot be done. The rules are clear! But...if this woman is going to die anyway...."
After much thinking, he finally speaks:
"Very well, my lady, I will grant your wish. Your life for his."
Melinda's anxious look transforms into a happy and relieved face, as she watches the Grim Reaper bringing back to life Florian...
"Dear, dear husband, love of my life!" she thinks with joy "Thank you for always standing by me...Live! Live the life I could save to see your grandchild! Look after our wonderful children also for me...." Melinda thinks in tears.
The Grim Reaper solemnly turns towards Melinda: "There's no time for goodbyes, I am already late. Are you ready, my lady?"
Melinda finds the strength to whisper: "Yes, thank you"
The Grim Reaper starts the ritual and Melinda suddenly feels very tired and her eyes closing. Life is leaving her old and sick body to reach a peaceful state...
Melinda's children are in total shock. It seems the conversation between their mother and Grim took place on a psychic level, as they are not able to comprehend the situation in front of them.
Florian regains his consciousness and it takes him one second to understand what's going on: he listened to all the conversation his wife had with the Angel of Death.
Florian: "Great and powerful Guardian of the afterlife, please, please take MY life instead of my wife's! It is I who should die today!"
Grim: "I am truly sorry, old man, but the deal is done. And I cannot go back on my word"
Florian is devastated: how can he go on living without his beloved Melinda by his side.
"Melinda! Melinda if you hear me, please don't go! Please stand by me!"
"The time has come!" shouts Grim.
And then, in a purple smoke, Melinda's soul vanishes and leaves this world.
(*author is grabbing her knees and rolling down on the ground, while incontrollably crying and sobbing....: my poor feels!)
Melinda is gone. There's nothing anyone could do now.
Her seven children decide to bury her remains in a quiet spot in the backyard.
And there she shall rest forever.
Melinda's death has deeply scarred the Le Blanc bunch: she was their pillar, their role model, their beloved mother. Nothing will be the same from now on. Not for them, not for their father, who is devastated and haunts the house like a ghost.
He spends his time crying by his wife's tombstone and no one or nothing seem to comfort him.
Even though the pain after Melinda's death is still fresh, life must go on and soon is time for Micaela to give birth. And Nik is freaking out! Bet he did not read all the baby and pregnancy books as his wife asked him to!
Hours later, the brand new addition to the family is welcomed with great joy: meet baby Finnick Le Blanc!!!
Niklaus is over the moon to have a son!
And Florian is ecstatic at the view of his grandson. If only Melinda was still around to see little Finn....
Florian suddenly gets so emotional that he can't hold back the tears: his wife was all his world, and he knew how much she loved children. She would have spoiled rotten Finnick. If only...
Nik notices his father quick expression change, so he quietly takes him downstairs, trying his best to comfort him.
Nik: "Dad, come on, cheer up. Today's a joyful day. We all miss Mom, she was irreplaceable, but she wouldn't like for us to be so sad. Not today."
Florian: "I know, son. It's just...if only...If I could only see her one last time. To tell her all the things I couldn't when she left us"
Nik: "I am pretty sure that with her sharp hearing, she'd be able to hear you even from where she is right now."
Florian smiles and giggles.
Florian: "Indeed! She could hear a leaf falling in the woods from the mall when she went shopping!"
That night, Micaela's youngest brother Henry pays a visit to the Le Blancs, to properly welcome his nephew.
Henry: "This is really a nice house, Miki."
Miki: "Yes, it is. But we're planning to move out in a couple of months, you know, we need our space as a family"
Henry: "Why would you want to move out? This place's dope! I wouldn't mind living here, instead of that rat hole I live in with Moms and Fil"
Miki: "Hey, watch your mouth!"
Night finally comes, and all the family goes to bed, to regain strenght from the long and emotional day.
Soon after midnight, the house is filled with strange noises. Not being able to fall asleep, Florian gets up and takes a tour of the house, just to make sure there are no burglars trying to enter.
He would never have expected what (or better who) he found.
Mel: "Hello, dear husband"
Florian: "Mel! is that....how....how is this possible?"
Mel: "Oh well, it appears I am not fully ready to move forward to the afterlife and that I need to settle things in this world, before finally continue my journey"
Florian: "And what exactly do you have left to do? Wait, don't tell me. I don't mind, I just want to tell you that..."
Melinda stops him with a little nod.
Mel: "Don't worry, my love. We have time."
The two spend the night talking about Finnick's birth, how much they've missed each other, about the wonderful life they shared together and their children.
Before leaving, Melinda makes sure that Florian will tell some things to their offspring.
Mel: "Remember to tell Penny to let Alby choose his own degree, he's all grown up now, and doesn't need 24/7 surveillance. Oh and be sure to tell Lori that she can borrow Nik's and Dani's old clothes for the triplets' fifth birthday. And Dani has to take the twins to the dance studio downtown, you know, the Lulabell's, it's marvellous, I bet they'll love it! Nik needs to learn how to handle babies, he's holding Finn upside down most of the time! Tell Gina not to spend so much on the computer: she's already wearing glasses, does she want to go blind? And call Illa everyday. The girl worries me with her hippie lifestyle. And tell Bella..."
Mel&Florian: "...not to mix chocolate with tomato sauce"
Florian (mimicking Melinda): "Because even if you like it, it doesn't mean that everyone else does."
They both laugh, and share their last moment together.
Florian: "It's time, isn't it?"
Mel: "I am afraid so"
Florian: "Please, wait for me. I'll be joining you soon"
Mel: "I hope not! You better live another decade at least! Goodbye, dear husband"
Florian: "Goodbye, dear wife"
With these words, the two look at each other for the last time. For now.
Author-entry: Heeeeeey!! Badabuuu! Sorry for my absence from the forum! Family obligations held me back and.....a new job! Yey! I'll try to post more often, if you enjoy the story!
Yet, the circle of life keeps spinning and, unfortunately, Florian's time on Earth has come to its natural end.
The Grim Reaper suddenly appears in front of Isabella's terrified eyes.
With a wave of his hand, the Grim Reaper sends Florian's soul into the otherworld, where is very much awaited...
Bella's begging do not move the Angel of Death: Florian lived a happy and long life, it is high time to go.
Bella feels devasted. She was very close to her father, and they grew even closer when Melinda passed away.
Even though she is sorrounded by her sisters, her brother, all the in-laws and nieces and nephews, she feels irremediably alone. After all, she's only a teen...
Florian is buried next to Melinda, so they can stay by each other's side even in the afterlife...
Finnick is quite shaken after his grandfather's death: even though they didn't spend much time together and he has very few memories of him, he still feels very sad, and seemingly not able to deal with the loss.
Luckily, his mother Micaela is there to help him through.
Micaela: "My sweet little boy. It is always hard to say goodbye to those we love."
Finn: "But why does it hurt so much? It feels like a knife cutting through my chest..."
Micaela: "It hurst very much because you loved Grandpa a lot. The more we love someone, the more we suffer when we lose them. But this doesn't mean that we must avoid pain by not loving anyone. Love is one of the greatest gifts we have, and it's definetely worth it.
Finnick ponders his mother's words, which spin in his brain like a whirlwind. He needs some fresh air, so he heads out to take a walk.
While walking by the pond, he bumps into his aunt Penelope.
Penny: "Oh, hello Finnick! How are you doing? Are you all alone?"
Finn: "I am just taking a walk, Aunt Penny. The house has suddenly become cold and sad...."
Penny: "I see...I am sorry you have to go through this Finn. I assure you, this will be temporary. Let's head back, I want to see how everyone's doing"
Well...everyone is not doing great.
Even though devasted herself, Danielle decides to take Bella for a walk and talk to her about the bad habit of drinking she has lately taken on...
The sisterly talk may have had the hoped effects: Isabella is feeling better and she is ready to be serving delicious food at Nik, Dani, Gina and Illa's and her joined party!
They all delayed their birthdays in order to get through the grief, and now it's time to be celebrating life again!
Althea is all grown up into a beautiful teen!
Even Lori managed to come!
But between all the guests, there's one that Bella is really focused on: it's Henry Fabbri, youngest brother of Micaela, her sister-in-law...
He really is a handsome fella!
Finnick is really happy to see everyone is enjoying the party.
After the huge party and all the guests have returned to their respective homes (includin Nik, Micaela and Finn, who have recently moved to their little suburban house), Bella stays up to clean up and eventually falls asleep on the couch.
The morning after, she is woken up by the doorbell
"Who the plum is it, at this hour of the day?" she thinks as she heads to the door.
Bella cannot believe her eyes: at the door, in all his handsomness, there's Henry, her crush.
Henry: "Morning, Bella. I thought you were too tired after all that work and I brought you breakfast. May I come in?"
Bella: "Ehm, uhm" She is too thrilled at his sight to elaborate finer words. "Su-sure"
After having breakfast and chatting a little, Henry tells Bella that he has to go back home and get ready for work.
Bella: "What is your job?"
Henry: "Oh, I am just a waterperson for the Kuzco Peasants, but I hope to become a professional player one day.
Now that explains a lot! Bella thinks looking at Henry's muscles.
Henry: "I really need to go but I had a great time!"
Bella: "Wait, before you go, can we take a picture?"
Henry: "Thought you never asked"
Things escalate pretty quickly and the air suddenly becomes hot and flirty.
Bella takes a deep breath and gives Henry a kiss.
Needless to say, in the following days Bella and Henry spend every free moment together, and they soon become an item.
Romance is in the air not only for Bella...Her sister Virginia, who has recently taken up a job as computer and internet supervisor at the local library, is having a sort of on and off relationship with an Italian teacher, VIncenzo Esposito.
After months of dating or non-dating, while they're walking by the lake, Vincenzo decides to pop to Gina a very important question
And she surprinsigly accepts to marry him!
The wedding is set very quicly and Gina is over the moon. Who would have thought that the nerdy and work addict sister was hiding a romantic and girly spirit?
The ceremony takes places in the backyard of the family house: guests and family members have arrived, time to celebrate!
After the newlyweds have exchanged their vows, everyone's ready to party!!!
Penny is attending the wedding with her son Alberto and husband Alessandro, who is now retired from the family business and has appointed Alberto as his successor.
Danielle and her family are there too.
And Nik, of course! Always ready to make jokes and tease his sisters!
Lorelai is attending alone, because her husband took the kids to a trip to Granite Falls, and since she's not a fan of wild nature, she stayed behind.
As the sun sets on this beautiful day, Bella notices that Henry is sitting in the backyard alone.
She reaches him.
Bella: "What are you doing out here all alone, Henry?"
Henry: "Oh, nothing special. It's just that today made me thinking"
Bella: "Think about what?"
Henry faces Bella with a huge and warm smile and replies: "The future"
The Le Blancs' bunch is finally leading a quiet and joyful existence, after all the pain caused by their parents' death, and good news seem to spread like wildfire.
Soon after the honeymoon, Gina finds out she is expecting! She tells her husband right away!
And Vincenzo is of course overjoyed! A little Esposito is on the way!
Meanwhile, Henry and Bella are taking a walk near the river. The magic athmosphere gives Henry the courage to ask his pretty lady to marry him.
And the answer can only be YES! The two are made for each other and soon we will hear wedding bells!
Bella and her fiancèe agree on a late night wedding at a luxurious venue: they will marry at midnight at the five star Pumpkin Chariot Hotel.
Around 9 PM, guests begin to flood into the restaurant and the bar, chatting with each other and waiting for the big moment.
Here are Alberto (Penny's son) and Althea (Danielle's daughter). She is the joker of the family, always ready to make people laugh.
Lorelai has arrived, wearing a beautiful blue dress.
And Niklaus, of course, our favourite!
Sibilla is alone. No dater, as usual, but she doesn't look sad at all.
Danielle is running a little late, but luckily she makes it on time!
And here is our bride!
The ceremony begins and everyone gathers around to witness wedding #5 of the LeBlancs!
Henry and Isabella are just the perfect couple and everybody wishes the couple a happy and long life together!
At last, they are officially man and wife! Their first act together as a married couple is....sharing the cake! They are both such foodies...
The celebrations last several hours and many guests already made the decision to book a room at the hotel. Virginia and Vincenzo are among those, since Gina tires very quickly, due to her condition. Yet, they would never have imagined that she would go into labour THAT exact night!!!
After rushing to the hospital and several hours, Virginia and Vincenzo welcome baby boy Valentino!!!
Another precious addition to the family!
Stay tuned to find out more, and don't forget to check the family tree, since even I am starting to lose track of all of them!

Stay tuned to find out more!

Stay tuned to find more!
