I have never had serious issues with facial features changing even when playing aliens (apart from some small issues recently), it would be quite ironic to have this issue now with all sims instead...

@DeidreMahariel , take backup copy of your saves in case, so, if you do have that bug, you can always revert to it after its fixed /there is a mod to fix it (if you can/will use mods

Does the EA app let us play offline without updating? I've never tried it. 🤔

I have downloaded the patch but I always take a backup of my Saves which I store on an external hard drive.
I have taken some pictures before and after the update, but I really doubt it has made any difference in my game. Are the eyes sunken deeper? I have never explored the depth of the eyes until now. Maybe some new shadows have been added?

I was distracted and accepted the update without thinking. So far I haven't noticed anything drastically different. Like @MonaSolstraale there might be some changes but they are really hard to spot. When I got home from work yesterday I was on a mission so I was thinking about something else. I did make backups of my saves and tray folders, but they were after I downloaded the update. I made them because I was doing an experiment to find another issue and it required deleting some sims to see if they were the source of the other problem. My last pre-update backup was a month ago. After work today I may put a copy of the old one in and do a closeup in CAS and compare it to one from the current save folder. Honestly it feels like there's something different with their looks but it's so small I can't see it, I only sense it.
Worst case scenario if put the old saves folder back in I would have to go back and redo outfits for the vampires storyline in S&D. Danielle and Londyn's renovated home was already saved to my library so that's an easy fix. My game right now is just a means for screenshots to support my writing, so there's really nothing to lose by rolling back to that older save point. And I do have a current backup that could be picked up again once a fix is ready. The gameplay in both stories has only advanced about one sim week in the last month and a half.
Oh no, I updated my game with no knowledge of this! I haven’t noticed any major differences with my Sims. The differences don’t seem hugely noticeable unless you’re zoomed in, but I can see how it’s annoying for people.
Actually I have seen that some people have really bad issues, like no lips and stuff. Oh dear…
I mainly updated because I was having an issue in my game and thought an update might fix it, and I did a repair game too. I thought “oh it’s just bug fixes, it can’t be too bad…” seems like it has been. Again, my Sims seem fine but I don’t zoom in very often. I’m still on my infants gameplay save rather than the Mastersons.
Some people seem to be saying that the thigh and butt sliders have been changed which is causing the issue.
ETA: thigh and butt sliders for female frames, feet and butt sliders for male frames.
@MonaSolstraale , I don't see any difference there. Now when I try to try to see some there im most likely only imagining.

This is unfortunate. I was going to patch my game (to the infants patch) this week, but I guess I won't patch until further notice. I hope this hasn't messed up any of your games.
Late to the party, but the best Steam lets me do is only update when I launch the game, since I forgot I had auto updates on. I’ve tried putting Steam and EA App offline but every time I’ve tried it won’t let me play without updating. I’ll try Kellogg’s flight mode idea next time, thank you.
My next update I have seen by a Tumblr user is that the bug for most people starts when they go into Live Mode for most people, and that on Manage Worlds they seem to look fine on the portraits, so your sims should IN THEORY hopefully be fine if you’ve updated but not gone into Live Mode yet. I’m just going off what I’ve heard.

Unfortunately I went into live mode. I just realized it wouldn’t make a difference if I had backed up my saves and tray folder before I did the update because that’s all I made backups of. I didn’t make a backup of the entire Sims 4 folder. Not much I can do now if it does change their appearance, except not play at all and wait. I don’t want to do that because I’m feeling like I’m in a really creative place. Ugh!!! I was really looking forward to getting a couple of chapters done in the next week.
I have been into Live Mode but I didn’t play much. I just wanted to fix a little bug I had. Everyone looked OK… dunno if I should just go in briefly to check or not
Ah well, I can work more on my royal story, and maybe start a new save and start work on the palace.

NB: I would recommend the Crinrict website where he/she (?) provides a tutorial for necessary steps In preparation for patching
