Check in?

So they changed "Ask about day" to "Check in with name" Does anyone know why they did this? It just seems odd to me because I can't think what purpose it serves. I'm not saying I have a preference, all else equal. If it had always been "Check in" it wouldn't bother me. In fact, if "Ask about day" had no dependent interactions, I probably wouldn't even be writing this post. I might not have noticed. If I had I would have just shrugged and been bemused for a second. Here are my two issues with the change:

1. Don't the devs have other things to do with their time?
2. "Ask co-worker about day" is a task you sometimes get assigned in active careers. This hasn't been updated to reflect that it's not called that anymore in the social menu. If you were to try to play an active career and didn't know about this, you would have to waste a lot of time combing through all of the sub-menus to confirm that asking someone about their day isn't an option anymore. Then you'd have to use trial and error to figure out that you can use the "Check in" interaction instead.

Does this annoy anyone else?
-No, my almost-elderly mother, I don't think it's a good time for you to try for a baby.
-Yes, person I barely know, you have my blessing to hang out with Johnny Zest.
-No person with the mean, hot-headed and self-absorbed traits, I don't think you should get married.

I'm still just seeing "Ask about day".

Ask About Day is still an option in my game.

@lisamwitt and @WildIrishBanshee do you have mods? I'm wondering if a mod update reversed this for you. Also, do you have ask about day in addition to check in or instead?

I have ask about day, and only see Sims check in as an autonomous action that's not on the Sim menu.

@Eleri I do, but I have ask about day without as well. Never seen this check in with option.

I think the only time I’ve ever seen “Check In” was when you go to the hospital to deliver a baby and check in at the desk. Might be a check in at the vet too, been so long for me I’m not for sure.

But I don’t recall ever seeing that interaction in the social pie menu.

Only 2. One that disables the Eco Living sunray effect and one that removes the mosaic blur. No other mods.

I've never seen the option to check in at all. I just see the ask about day option under small talk.

I have been looking for "ask about day" and have been unable to find it. I like the updated menu but l'm still getting used to finding everything, especially under friendly. I havn't played much since the infant update. No mods.

Well my two adult sims both go to work as a tech guru and it’ll be nice to see them go to work on location like if they were detectives or doctors in the sims 4 get to work and like if they were actors in the sims 4 get famous

@mollie1998 lol, I don't think so. I code for a living (not video games, but still). Trust me when I say you do not want to recreate my workday in a video game. You'll be bored out of your mind. If you want a sample of what this is like, try giving your sim the freelance programmer career. Not exactly a thrill a minute.

Lol, it's like following a writer to work - stare at computer, work feverishly, get snack/coffee, repeat - go home.
