PSA: Fix your child's loose tooth before aging her up to teen

I aged my child up to teen and then spent an hour in CAS perfecting her. Then when I went back into the game, her skin was black (not like the skin tone, like black black). When I went back into CAS she had been completely transformed into another person with none of my work.

Long story short, there's a glitch where if you age a kid up while they have a tooth issue, this will happen. You need to have them "fix loose tooth" before aging them up.

Hope I can save some others the time I wasted.

Wow, I am so sorry this happened to you! Hopefully, they’ll fix this ASAP! How do you fix the loose tooth? I don’t have a child in any of my sims yet, but I’d like to be prepared. Yikes.

Yeah, this is an issue. Someone made a mod (for child sims who haven’t aged up yet) that will fix this problem in case you forgot pull out the tooth.

Click on the child and there will be an option that says something like "fix loose tooth."

This can also happen to Child sims, even if they haven't aged up. It seems to happen when the the "Loose Tooth" moodlet expires and the overlay for the gap is applied.

It might be possible to circumvent it by manually pulling and fixing the tooth.

I recommend saving before sleeping/napping whenever there is a Child in the household, as the "Loose Tooth" moodlet has a chance of being applied every time the Child sim wakes up.

I read about this bug and sadly this and the possibility of milestones going missing kinda made me want to stop playing until the bugs are fixed... At least I will take a backup of my save every day if I play.

As a heads up, you should also be careful with child sims too, because losing teeth will mess with their genetics, even when they’re in their child stage. Whenever something happens with teeth, their nose and facial features get smaller and scrunch up, producing a weird looking child/teen. So even if you fix your sim’s tooth, their genetics will be a little messed up and they’ll have a scrunched up face.

So far, I’m simply saving all my children to my library when they turn into infants using MCCC to paste the correct genetics onto them once they age up into a teen.

Thank you for sharing your experience and the solution to the glitch you encountered in the game. It's always frustrating when unexpected issues like this arise and can lead to wasted time and effort.

It's great that you were able to identify the cause of the glitch and find a solution to prevent it from happening in the future. Sharing this information with others can be helpful in preventing similar issues and saving them time and frustration.

In any case, it's important to remember that glitches and bugs can happen in any game, and it's always a good idea to save your progress frequently and be prepared for unexpected issues.

Loose tooth has been patched out "for now" until it can be fixed is the idea.
