I think the problem with high school years .They base is much gameplay on the school.

All of the features in High School Years sounded fun on paper, but a lot of them just ended being badly designed, repetitive and annoying. And don't even get me started on Fears- what a disaster. I think Fears are the most annoying and badly implemented feature in the game so far.

It won't be the first time. Look at Club, NAP, Eco Footprint, ...

Not sure why clubs are annoying but for NAP, eco footprint, neighbourhood stories and fame we have options to turn them off. I think giving players options is important. I hope the new features in growing together also get options so players can choose to enable them or not. Especially the workplace related difficulties are something I would like to be able to turn off. One of my reasons to not get high school years was the lack of options to globally turn off body hair and the social bunny.

I feel the school doesn’t have enough gameplay. But I see what you mean, the pack is centred around sending teen sims to the school. I don’t mind a pack having a focus point like this, but it’s got to be good.

Once it gets repetitive and you stop sending them to school there’s not much to it really. All the other features are kinda short lived. If the school was better then it would be okay, but as it is you really do have to put in a lot of work/imagination and focus mostly on teens to make the most out of it.

I think splitting their time between the thrifting system, the world, the school and the inclusion stuff is probably the biggest problem with the pack. Growing together seems to have more focus. It’s why I don’t mind not updating the family tree or complain about the world that much because it’s better to do a few things well than a lot of things not well.

One of the things that I wonder about is if GroTog will break large family challenges. Like the different versions of the 100 baby challenge... And my own variation on that with one sims who has fathered 114 kids so far... I realize this may not be as negative, but I do see baby challenges having to be majorly redone depending on what comes in the patch vs the exp. And that's a negative in my opinion.
Sorry, Avatar is merely my favorite Sims 4 sim.

I mean the goal is to use the game, not turn off my computer when features annoy me :p

I wish we got new types of playground equipment like slides for children sims (the treehouse slide doesn't really count as it's attached to the treehouse), see saws, merry-go-round. Also wish we got strollers.

As I personally expected, we again have a big world that most of it you can't even visit. When are devs going to catch on to this complaint?

Also, going to the movies can be classed as gameplay about as much as in real life going to the movies can be classed as socialising. I mean, the pack looks really nice and I'm totally looking forwards to Infants but... come on! Stop calling rabbit holes gameplay!
Prepping a list of mods to add after Infants are placed into the game. Because real life isn't 'nice'.

Even more disappointed that we didn’t get a daycare or elementary school career now that there are so many of the build buy items would have worked perfectly with it . Missed opportunity.

I watched an early access and it said for the stay over you can invite people or people can call you and ask to stay over. It seemed impossible to send kids to relatives for a stay over though unless they call and invite you which they might not do. I don’t know if this is correct but it’s a shame if it is.

They tweeted saying the rec centre has art classes, but apparently they don't? Or maybe it just means one day a week sims do art more automatically? I had my hopes up with classes like yoga but that doesn't seem to be the case :(.

They do have art classes but once a week. Though I think it might depend on how many activities are there in the center.

Like actual classes? I hope I'm wrong, all the early access I've seen has said there are no classes, but the programming is that sims will go towards certain activities on specific days of the week. Have you seen anything about classes anywhere? I'd love more info on it.

I’m sad that teens have been neglected in this EP. Sure, they have their own EP, but not everyone owns it, so it would have been nice to still have a few things for them.

I am too but I see why they don’t. If you have parenthood and HSY then teens are the second strongest lifestage with the most things to do besides YA. If they could start careers they’d be the strongest.

The pack seems about improving the more neglected stages and infants so not improving one of the stronger ones makes sense because then you’d need to add even more to the others.

But I do get that it’s a family pack and it feels like they should have some things. I hope they get some unique milestones at least. It would be nice to have milestones in HSY content too.

I saw in a GP that visits from other Sims is broken. The visiting parent did absolutely nothing if not an active Sim was around, just played on the phone and stod large part of the night starring on the assigned bed. They where only playing with base game and the new EP, what will happen when you add all the other packs into the mix?

    Use several birthmarks is forbidden

Sadly we can't use several birthmarks like this :/

Edit : Same thing about Left/Right hips, arms and shoulders, both sides is forbidden.

If they gather together it's a class. The arts academy has something similar but sims just randomly do whatever. I assume this is like the knights or ladies night at the bar, so if you keep track of the schedule you can attend with the class mates.

I'm disappointed that every single changing table is tied to this pack. They should have given players one or two tables that matched the style of the base game kids furniture. If they wanted a pack exclusive item they should have gone with an infant swing. Changing tables tend to be a common item of a nursery, and we had them with the cribs in Sims 2. Locking every single one behind a pack is not cool.

So it's more like an 'art day' or something, surg different days having a different theme.

I don't especially mind that, but calling it a class is very misleading. We have classes in game for yoga, where there is an instructor at a given time. If there is no teacher and no set times it is not a class.

I wouldn't mind if they just marketed it properly. 'The Rec Center is a thriving community space where different sims come every day, with multiple* weekly events such as Music Mondays and Fitness Fridays.' <- Would face been much better than saying classes which has confused many game changers. (*assuming there are multiple types).

Just from the early access videos I’m a little disappointed at the lack of interaction ability in the neighborhood. There’s no fishing spaces in spots where you would expect it. Why make that long waterfront promenade with no benches or spaces for activity?? They have that dock area that has zero interaction.. why not put a rabbit hole there or a food stall?? And why not put more spots to swim in the water?

My second disappointment is that the lot sizes are so small. For houses that are family focused I’d like more room to build a bigger yard fir kids to play in, which is really hard on a 20x30 lot and seem to be the majority.

Overall I’m beyond excited so maybe It’s only natural that you win on every front.

Honestly there’s not really much about this one I find negative (and I’m quite vocal about it lol)… it’s stuff I’ve been wanting for a long time.

If anything my “negative” thing is this stuff should’ve been in game waaaay sooner, but better late than never I guess.

I haven’t played in a couple of years (any sims game) which is the longest ever break Ive taken since I began playing in TS1 days, and this pack actually gave me the sims bug again.

    I’m looking forward to it.

I’m realizing now that they most likely made infants not to please players but really first and foremost capitalize off of something they really want-which i get it, this is a business lol. But All of the fun stuff for infants is in the EP. The tummy time mat is useless in BG. No changing table. They give you the bare necessities and then if you want the life stage to be fun and have real meaning, then you need the expansion pack. They literally give us a new life stage and if you want it to be better? then please give us $40 thank u. :D The infants are cute, i did play for a bit last night. it just gets a little repetitive and i didn’t really feel any connection to them cause i feel like there’s not really any goal for them without like, let’s say the milestones for their achievements of first time doing things. Idk in theory it’s cool, but i think most of that stuff for infants shouldve been BG and they could’ve add little extra things for them like that tummy mat with the hanging toys and the baby carrier, and then mostly expanded more on other life stages for this pack, such as toddlers, children and teens. this is all just my opinion, so i apologize lol just wanted to get my thought out.

Yeah, changing tables really shouldn't have been tied to the pack. Like base game shouldve gotten one at least (and the rest dlc) and the pack exclusive item be something else.

Really hoping they patch that post release of the pack. There is still plenty of content in the pack itself that it wouldn't hurt sales.
