I’m currently putting together a custom base save for myself. It’s all builds and households from the Gallery (with a few of my own households and builds sprinkled in). And it’s heavily modded/cc so it’s just for me.

I’m a little concerned about being able to skip the update. I’m on a Mac so I still have Origin. Last night I switched to offline mode and did a couple of checks. Every time I open Origin it puts itself back online. I have automatic updates turned off but I still worry that it will go and get the update without my permission. It doesn’t open on startup so I may have to disconnect my computer from the internet entirely until after I open Origin and take it offline again. I really hope this update has no major bugs and by the end of the week it will be safe to update without risking my save’s getting broken.

How is it that you have been able to avoid the App? Is it not ready for the Mac? Best of luck. I would disconnect as you suggest. I'm just happy I want this update, so I don't have to go through a third patch I tried to avoid. :open_mouth: Oh, well.

Hm... I wonder if mod creators will update their mods after the patch, and then again after the pack, or if they will just skip the former... If so I might need to wait longer than normal to patch my game.

I do think one of the reasons this Patch is so big, is generally, there is a patch previous to the incoming pack. So, we're getting a new life-stage, and the pre-pack patch. I think. I could be entirely wrong on this. But that has been my observation with new packs. My guess would be, if this is the case, they can get started after the Patch and the rest should be free and clear, so to speak.

I'm not too worried on the mod front as I only have a couple mods that mostly deal with eyes, and theyve been fairly stable through the years so far...

What I do worry over is how either of these incoming changes will affect my one game where the sim has 114 children, plus a couple grandkids currently. At the moment, most of the changes will likely affect unplayed households, as thats where most of the sim's kids are. Which could break that savegame..

That being said, I have created a couple games for the future.

One point I want to bring up here is that this could have the potential to truly Change some iconic families of the Sims game line. Goths, Landgraabs, Pleasants...

The Pleasants in particular, have been one of my favorite premades since Sims 2. And this series of updates has the potential to drastically change this dynamic because we wont really know quite the extent of extremes until we start playing the updates on Thursday [the patch tomorrow is only part of it really].

We would be able to effectively duplicate [to some extent] the twins upbringing; OR we could completely change it around... For the first time since 4 came out, we will have more power to shape how our sims futures turn out. Or at least thats the implication. Because even back in sims 3, it was hard to create a situation similar to Lilith and Angela, and now, we will have the opportunity to do so, without needing to resort to mods [again, implied].

Incidentally, I've had few issues with the EApp, and I actually like that I can start it in offline mode without having to go online first...

    Back up your Game folder.

I usually play rotationally, but everything coming in Growing Together, suggests that in-depth with one family might be a better option. So I have a YA married couple in Windenburg. The husband has been painting to build up their cash reserves, and the wife has been knitting -- I do want her to make a onesie. She's pregnant, and I opened up Neighborhood Stories, so that other families in this save would have little ones on the way. Babies are expected at the Goths, the Landgraabs, the Bjergsons, and several more households.

I plan to play with the infant tomorrow, and then have my parents try for baby again. That way I'll have a toddler and infant in the same household. As for the future -- This family is going to start a legacy. I'm playing on long, so they'll have time for lots of things -- family vacations, a class trip for the teen, and plenty of time for playing in the treehouse for the children.

There’s no release date yet for the EA app on Macs. From the small blurb I read it doesn’t sound like its coming anytime soon.

I am so impatient and sick of waiting like, its so exciting but then again I never felt like this before so hopefully it isn't a glitchy, bugged mess.

I'm in the process of pairing up a bunch of singles so they can potentially have some babies. Having new baby objects could be kinda cool.

    They won't be objects anymore.

I've started a new save to test this out, in case the update is super buggy. If it works ok, I'll probably continue playing in the new save since my old/current game is not really set up for babies and I don't want to make huge changes to those households. I've already dumped a few sims in place and am letting ideas for couples (or friends with babyfits -instead of 'friends with benefits') work in my mind. I'm really excited for Science Babies. I'll go on tonight to save my folder, since I forgot yesterday. I'll get the download later this week.

I intend to buy the new pack but I'll wait to see how buggy it is.

Could be wrong, but I'm guessing @Future means objects for the babies (changing tables, cribs, etc.) as opposed to babies as objects.

I'm not doing anything to prepare, just because the last time I went through the trouble of doing elaborate setup for a new pack (High School Years) that save got hit by the aging bug and 2/3 of my carefully prepared teenagers became young adults within 2 days of play.

so I'm just going to start fresh and clean with a new default save, or maybe keep playing in my not at all ready for infants current story-free save.

Yes I realize I made that mistake but I'm too new to edit my posts lol. Yea I'm looking forward to the changing tables and backpack things.

The main thing I've done is to back up my main saves. I have 10 mods, and no CC. The only mods I have are from Curseforge, all from LittleMsSam. I usually play vanilla, so I'm not sure how to remove my mods without Curseforge adding them again. Do I just delete them from the Curseforge app?

I forgot about that site. I’ve still be downloading from the modder’s site specifically. Do you find it easier with everything in one place or it’s still not enough mods up there to make a difference?

It's easier for me, because the mods I use are all from LittleMsSam. Prior to Curseforge, I played a vanilla game because I was tired of going from site to site each time the game patched (and I don't play often so it was a pain to keep track). Although, it would probably be just as easy for me to check LittleMsSam's Tumblr each time.

I'm on the Discord for the mods I use. :)

I'm late to the conversation, but I've started a new save and leveled up my YA to where I want. I went ahead and finished some of the things, like vacationing to Salvedorado that are hard when you have a family. Got him married and then couldn't wait to have a nooboo yesterday when it updated. Now I kinda regret it because I won't have all of the milestones for her. So, today and tomorrow, I might work on getting her to YA so that I can start fresh with a new baby when the expansion comes out.

I've literally never been as excited to play the game. I'm usually a builder, but all of a sudden I want to start a legacy and really play.

I finally got my young couple married just yesterday, which means I'm right on time. I won't let them have their first baby until after I have Growing Together installed. Also, some of the mods I use have been given the all-clear, so just to be on the safe-side I will test them in a throw-away save before I go back to my original backed-up save (of which i have a copy of in my folder.)

I think I’m just going to start a fresh save tomorrow. I did try to prepare but as other people have said it’s hard to know if your sim will miss out on milestones, and also I really want my sims to have social dynamics with all their friends and the infant to have the growing together stuff and not auto learn milestones if that’s how it works.

I think this pack is a great opportunity to just start fresh.

I’m really excited, I am going to just go back to basics, one sim in a small house and decorate with growing together furniture and update every townie I find and use the new CAS. I think I’ll play this new save for a long time, perhaps it will be my only save 😁.
