Six Fires on the Same Lot? UPDATED UPDATE: Make that Eight PICTURE

My current save has been plagued by fires. The family living there has already had four such fires in just a few Sim days. Just had another one, it was extinguished by the fire extinguishers on the ceiling. The fire Dept. is on standby, I'm certain. I had a Sim put out the fire in the fireplace, just for safe measure. HA! Moments later, the fire alarm goes off yet again. The fire is in front of the fireplace, but come on. How on Earth did the fire in the fireplace rekindle itself?

Has anyone else experienced this of late?

I'm going to do a game repair!

Update, despite the game repair, my Sims' celebration of Labor Day just got disrupted by another fire! OOFFDDAA. Enough already!

I think I will put stone tiles in front of the fireplace. But, I did catch a picture that is worth noting. I will add it momentarily.

Six fires😳 thank goodness for fire alarms. Maybe something flammable was nearby the fireplace? Very strange🤔

No, I made certain no rug was very close. However, I'm beginning to wonder about the robot vacuum. If memory serves, the last two fires, it was busy doing it's job. And with fire number six, it wasn't white and yellow anymore. It looked on the toasty side. LOL Lil devil. But what really surprises me is I watched as the Sim put out the fire, so unless one of the other Sims lit it again, how did it relight itself, HM?

There is a fireplace upgrade where it will auto light if it's cold - might you have done that and forgot?

Do you play with fears? If one or more sims in the same lot have a fear of fire it'll be more likely for fires to start when they're interacting with anything that could start one.
    Happy simming!

When I did the fire scene for Under The Tartosan Sun I had lots of fires rekindle. But I did have a lot of fires going at once too. Sometimes it would be the fire they just put out, other times it was another one all together. There is a limit to the number of fires the game will allow at any one time. Most will fizzle out fairly quickly if you just let them go and then one will ignite somewhere else. By the time I called in the fire department at the end, while they put out the last fires that were still burning one of the others that had fizzled out on their own reignited. So what may have happened was there were more fires than the game could show, sort of like a hidden queue of fires. Once a fire you could see was put out, the ones that were waiting ignited. Just a guess.

No. I stopped having my Sims waste their time upgrading for fireproof, let alone auto light, which I've never even heard of until this moment.

Okay, are they trying to make us stop using fireplaces? That is an intriguing situation, you mentioned. Stacks of fires we can't see. Hm.

No, in fact I have a mod that removes fears, so I can use the Wants as before. But, that is a good reminder that any Sim who has a fear of fire, fires will erupt. Kinda of like having someone who is working on their handiness skill will have copious chances to repair stuff. I'm so sick and tired of the appliances, toilets and sinks spewing water everywhere. LOL

It's a guess. My situation was extreme but as one fire would go out another would popup. Sometimes it would be on the adjacent square and other times it would be several squares away.

Actually, it might be worth noting that the auto-light function is possible with a fire place without upgrading. Basically, if you turn on the auto-light function, the fireplace will light up every time a sim enters the room.

What is the eco foot print in the neighbourhood? If it's bad then there are more fires.

Also check if you have cursed lot trait, that causes more fires as well.

    I don't have that pack.
    What are your lot traits?

I believe they are Good Schools; the Chef hat one, and gardening? Really can't remember, now. Built this lot last year or the year before in RL. :open_mouth: I would never put a cursed lot trait. I love my Sims too much. LOL Or one may be good acoustics. I do have a musician in the lot.

UPDATE: I repaired the game yesterday RL, and today I placed stone tiles around and under the fireplace. Just had another fire spark. Again, the Bot vacuum was on fire. When I get out of my game, I'll post the second picture. I'm really beside myself with what to do. This is getting tedious and quite dangerous for my favorite family. Now, I worry that when the four older kids go off to uni, their parents and Baby brother will be at risk!

The only other thing I can think of to do, is replace this lot with the one in My Library. Same lot. But, yikes. I do suppose I could upload this one just to download it again.

    Any thoughts?

I don't have bot vacuums in any of my sims homes so I haven't seen it but it sounds like there is an issue with those vacuums. I believe there was an issue with Bust The Dust and fires a while back, but I had been seeing simmers say that BtD had been fixed. I have that kit but I haven't turned it back on in almost a year. I wonder if it really is fixed.

I've never turned it off, and this is the first time, really, since I had a pool in the basement many Erik iterations ago, where fire became such an issue!

As an aside, I realized at one point, I was going to possibly replace the lot. Well, I move far too quickly, sometimes. I forgot in the heat of the moment to upload the current lot and then redownload it. Face/palm. Erik lost his first Best Song Accolade, as a result. And for some odd reason, the find hidden objects cheat isn't working. I can't access the Starlight Accolades at all, even to replace it. :open_mouth: Not only that, but when I tried to apply the filter, it did something weird to my build/buy. Now, when I click on Decorations, I don't get the sub-categories. I'm currently undergoing a game repair. And praying that fixes it, if not, I'll do yet another game folder refresh. I must be going senile. LOL Certainly Operator Malfunction is at work this morning. I do confess to being seriously sleep-deprived at the moment.

I am very happy to report, that after I did the game repair today, my Build/Buy is back to normal and the cheat showhiddenobjects worked. Erik's Best Song Accolade has been restored! I am happy!

Lmao, I know it's not funny, but it's funny. I've never had one of those catch on fire before, and they're all over the place in my houses - usually two to a floor at least.

    Up to 8 fires😵‍💫😵‍💫

I did a game repair, but I decided not to take any more chances. Here is my solution to this problem. I've run 'Bob' through the room, the Bot passed in front of the fireplace but no more fires. I just had to elevate it a tad.

My daughter-in-law and son have a similar vacuum. I got to see a real one up close and personal. She even stuck googly eyes on the top of it. LOL What I noticed about this machine is it's got 'feelers' on one side. Steph explained that was so they could get right up under the cabinets to clean the stuff in front of the kickboard. Sweet. I love using these little beasties in my game, I keep Bust the Dust on, and this way the dust bunnies don't get out of control. I usually have them upgraded to incinerate the collected dust and debris, so no more having to empty it. Also, it's set to automatic, for every 24 hours.

I have surmised that said feelers must have dragged across the bottom edge of the fireplace and presto! You got fire! I'll see how this goes.

Hmm, I have a sudden urge to buy BTD now, so I can have fiery vacuum bots.
