What packs do you think we will never get?

«13
I’ll start.

A vacation pack The game has worked hard to be more inclusive and that includes focusing on locals to worlds like in Island Living and Snowy Escape. There are location-dependant activities but they’re not vacations the same way as in previous iterations. That said, I do think we’ll get a hotel game pack similar to Dine Out (running your own hotel) at some point.

Safari Pack Safaris have a long history of colonialism and ignore the impact on the animals. There’s more ways to explore in an African-inspired world-I believe one of the previous surveys mentioned a South African city

Cars and horses The roads are very clearly not designed as roads. Sims walk randomly from point A to B in as short of path as possible, so every world would need to have a unique pathing system to be believable. With horses I don’t think this problem would exist because theoretically they’d function the same as bikes, but beyond a stuff pack what could you really do with horses that people will spend $30 on?

Carnivals, theme parks, etc I would love them but we got them in High School Years. They won’t expand on this system.

Medieval It’s too Eurocentric.

Preteen Pack To do preteens, every single animation would have to be height adjusted including for every pack. Infants can have unique animations so it’s not a problem but preteens are too time-consuming.

for horses they could do competitions like they had in the sims 3. you could ride your horse around an obstacle course. also you're underestimating how the sims team can turn anything into an expansion/game pack. they made weather a whole expansion. they also made going to the spa, the interior decorator career and getting married whole game packs. like those are small features they stretched out. if we get horses it for sure won't be a stuff pack. there's no way they'd just give us those for $10. might as well make em free then.

Unfortunately, probably all the above. :'(

Hopefully we'll get all those things in Sims 5,and hopefully Sims 5 will be more like Sims 1 and Sims 2.
Why do you hide inside these walls?

I don’t think there will be a multiple location vacation expansion pack like in sims 3, but I can still see a game pack along the lines of jungle adventure and the camping one. I hope for like a yacht/cruise.

I don’t think we’d get safari for political reasons and we already have the jungle.

I don’t think HSY would stop them from doing a proper theme park in either a game pack or an expansion pack but I’m not sure we’ll get one.

Is it just me or is the game just not designed around cars? I feel this is one of those ‘you think you want them but you don’t’ moments. All I could see them being at this point is essentially a taxi outside your house that drives down the road into a loading screen. They should be a priority consideration when designing sims 5 though.

It could not be more obvious the game was not made with cars in mind. So I believe that they won't be in. Horses, however, I can still imagine. As for how they would would make a pack with horses big enough to be worth it? Easy, combine it with the aforementioned Medieval Pack idea. Speaking of which, they don't HAVE to make a medieval pack strictly European. It's not like Europe is the only place that had swords. They could throw some Arabian and Asian stuff in too. (Heck, this means that the Medieval pack could possibly add Genies to the game. Though I would personally prefer Fairies.)

The Death Pack. With new and exciting ways to die, funerals and mortuary and the career of undertaker, and the option to BE the Grim Reaper as an active profession that one has the option to play, or to "send alone" on the job.

It could come with a Somber Music station featuring things like Albinoni's Addagio and maybe some darkwave or death metal or maybe death metal belongs on the metal station but whatever.

There could be Deathday parties for the newly departed once they are on the other side, and they can have the choice of staying as a ghost, or passing on into the netherworld (at which point they turn into shades instead of ghosts, and disappear, right after eating the black cake and being cheered on by Grammy and some ghosts. If they choose to stay on as ghosts, they are anchored to their tombstone or urn, same as in the game, and there can be special ghost socials and opportunities.

I think I'm not alone in loving the idea, but doubt it will happen.

    This would be so cool!

When I heard about the paranormal pack I got excited about the potential for expanding on what ghosts can do but they didn’t. I still love that pack, but I would really like to see something focusing on ghosts as a life state and fleshing out (oops) what you can do with them. I don’t think it’ll ever happen. If it did though I’d love to see:

    - The ability to possess sims as ghosts. (Take temporary control of npc sims like the genie Ensorcel command in TS3)

    - Some kind of ghost world/lot like the magic realm that shows where npc ghosts go when they’re not in the world. (Not the “netherworld” though because that option to permanently get rid of them can stay)

You may very well be correct that we will never get cars. However, it has been noted over and over again, for years, on this forum that driving on roads is far from the only (or even the most interesting!) thing one could do with a cars packs. For those of you who remember Sims 2, we didn't really see the sims drive them on the road in that version, either, but there were lots of great interactions. Rebuilding the cars, and painting/designing them, working on them in the garage or driveway, "parking" in the car for makeout sessions (not to mention woohoo), sitting in the car with friends listening to music, etc. I initially didn't even think cars were something I wanted back in those days, but some of my favorite TS2 moments ended up being the times when parents or older siblings taught teens how to work on the car. I would love to have all of that back, it would add so much flavor and personality to the game.

I don't remember whether "teach to drive" was an interaction, but it would be another great option. Who among us doesn't remember our parents teaching us to drive IRL, and how much time they made us spend in the car before we ever got on the road, adjusting things, lecturing us about safety, etc. That would be so cute to see in the sims.

Similarly, even if you don't have memories of making out in the car with your significant other as a teen or YA, didn't we all have times when we'd go somewhere with a group of friends and just park and sit in the car, listening to music and talking about life? For that matter, even as a grumpy middle-aged person, I still do that with my friends sometimes... there's something about a parked car that feels like a confessional.

Tl; dr: cars could be so, so much more than just set dressing or driving on roads.

My exact thoughts. I've been thinking about all the stuff i want in TS4 and am realizing i dont want it in it, i rather have it in TS5 after it's release (if i even buy it).

I have seen a lot of people say they don’t think we will get cars, but I think we will eventually get them. There was a pretty big hint on that from cottage living I think. Something about a play on Henford on Bagley, I also think we might have a chance for a Medieval pack too, with horses.
  • RememberJoyRememberJoy Posts: 1,138 Member
I agree we're unlikely to get preteens, theme parks, and safaris, but I personally think there's still a small chance we may get the others.

I'm not really interested in cars myself, but I could see them adding them as a hobby project. We'd likely never see them actually driving anywhere (because most of the worlds would need a major update to allow for it), but they could be an object your sim could repair, sit in, or teleport from after getting into it.

Horses I could see being added to a dude ranch type pack (which could also be a new vacation destination), or a pack that focuses on horse competitions.

If we do get another vacation pack, I think it'll focus less on exotic destinations and more on events. I could see a dude ranch (as above), a renascence fair (which could bring in some medieval stuff without time travel), or a kids summer camp all being possible vacation packs.

I think horses were left out of the pets pack and the farming pack specifically because they are being considered for their own equestrian oriented pack. Unlike cars, having a stable, training horses for show or equestrian events, etc, can add a lot of gameplay. Add unicorns and things could be interesting. If cars are added, I think it will be as an inclusion in a bigger pack, such as a hobby or sports pack.

I don’t see preteens as a separate pack. They don’t add enough. I think if we get them they’ll be a part of a generations type pack.

A vacation pack seems redundant now that we can add rentals to any world, unless there’s a play through element like Jungle Adventure or TS3 World Adventures. That could happen, although there hasn’t been much of that type of pack recently.

I don’t think we’ll be getting a full supernatural pack, though I wish we could. I’m guessing fairies will be the next dedicated occult pack, which would only leave things like zombies and genies, which aren’t likely to be given full pack treatment. Maybe we could get a small pack of fantasy creatures to round those out.

I don't want a safari pack, but I do want a world set in Africa with tall grass, and the flora (not just fauna (of African. I want African inspired food, clothing, and build buy.

That being said, I'm getting worried that it won't happen.

I suspect that quite possibly, the packs we get this upcoming year will be some of the last before Rene/TS5 is released.

However, I feel that many of these ideas could've easily been incorporated into other packs.

Real Estate could easily have been incorporated had Dream Home Designer been expanded from a Game Pack to an Expansion Pack.

As I understand, it's been said, at least semi-officially, that horses were cut from Cats and Dogs because they felt an entire pack devoted to horses would do them justice. The same was said for Cottage Living. Yet, some have found snippets of code relating to horses, particularly routing.

I am hoping that at least some of these ideas get realized. Horses have been at the top of my list since I finally got into TS4 after a couple of years of playing TS3 almost exclusively.

Sadly I don't think we'll get a Theme or Waterpark Expansion or Gamepack.
  • CybersbeCybersbe Posts: 108 Member
A gambling/casino themed pack is something I think would be interesting, but might not happen. Mostly because I hear some countries have laws about depicting gambling. Of course, since Maxis got away with Sabaac, I don't know for sure.

I could actually see horses being a game pack. I agree about not getting a water park one, though, as much as I would love that, lol.

actually, cars and horses are on the way. Both are highly required theme.
As for updated player asked for a few major things:
    bunk beds (done)
    playable babies (on their way)
The next thing is cars. Actually worlds in newest packs have much wider and better roads, bigger districts perfect for driving. Even gas stations even if its just as decoration.
Horses are actually already coded in the game and one of the top requests of the game, obviously we will have hourses because lots of people are going to buy them.

Sims can jon around, walk the dog, ride a bike around the neighbourhood so driving the car/riding a horse will work the same.

I predict we will never see a Netherworld expansion, even though giving all the ghosts their own afterlife neighborhood could have potential for some really amusing gameplay. I suspect it would just be considered too morbid for some audience.

I also don't believe we'll ever see a full aliens expansion with their own off-world neighborhoods and pilotable flying saucers. My alien family lives in the buried remains of their crashed flying saucer, in StrangerVille. (On the surface it just looks like a rather small, ordinary home.)

I think we won't ever get the "Carry Your Trash Out With Style" game pack. It could include numerous new trash cans, matching CAS outfits, a 5 lot world with dumpster lots and a small wood which is where the trash plant origins from and where the Mama Trash Monster lives. She can be hunted by sims who earned the Trash Hero trait, which requires 5 days without washing, 5 nights sleeping in dumpsters/bins and eating the crop from trash plants (requires a hidden trash skill). New traits would be Trash-for-Trash's-Sake (sims preferring a filthy lifestyle aka stinking bombs) and the Treasure-Smasher who turns other sims' values into smashed trash. This way your neighbors get more trash to carry out. Sounds fun, huh?

Well, I doubt we'll ever see this pack, but you never know... ;)
