Can I still support creators on Patreon?
Yes, creators who use CurseForge will be allowed to accept your donations on Patreon etc.
Is this only for the special invited creators?
No, the invited creators will not be the only ones there ... except at launch. Other creators will be able to apply afterward.
Do creators have to join if they still want to make mods or CC?
No, creators are not required to join. Sims 4 will still have the old way to put mods/CC in your game.
Do I have to use this new thing?

Yes, creators will be able to make their mods/CC available in multiple places.
Is this site safe for Simmers who don't want to be exposed to 18+ content?
Yes, there will be no 18+ content available via CurseForge. Content is checked against EA's rules on violence, nudity, etc.

Is the mod management tool only for CurseForge mods?
No, the mod manager will not be only for your CurseForge-based mods. You will be able to see your other mods in it too. However, mods you get somewhere else won't auto-delete or auto-update.
Does this thing have two different names?
No, the platform doesn't have two different names. Overwolf is the company that owns CurseForge.
Is this some new experiment I'd be part of?
No, the platform isn't a new experiment. It's widely used for Minecraft, World of Warcraft, and many other games.
Is console getting mods and CC?
No, this doesn't mean console is getting mods and CC.
Will Mac users get to use CurseForge too?
Yes, this option will be available on both Mac and PC... but not right away. The initial launch will be PC only. Mac users will get access later, probably early 2023.
Will you still do the Broken Mods thread on the Forums?
Ummmm... I'd
like to not need to? I hope that eventually Sims 4 modding gets to the point that there's not enough need for my list to warrant the time it takes up. I'd like to see most content move to a more automated system.

I guess the team really meant when they said "You make the Sims."
Thanks to everyone adding new info!
I have one suggestion, maybe mention that it's for Windows only? Just a thought.
Is it, for Sims in particular? Because there are downloads for Windows, Mac, and Linux (but Linux is only for WoW) on this page: https://download.curseforge.com/ (Scroll down)
OH! Well, that's good. I thought I saw it say Windows only somewhere. But looks like I'm (happily) wrong about that.
I'll put this here since it's got it's own thread now.
I'm extremely suspicious of Overwolf. They might not be malware now, but they have been caught doing it in the past. When they took over Curseforge things started happening with it on my system and many others. I used 'Curse' and it's addon managers in one version or another for 15 years.
Maybe they've cleaned up their act. Vegas used to be pretty shady and now it's a family theme park so things can change.
Here's my last statement in the other thread that started mention of this issue.
******
Former usage of it, and communication with others who used it. Once it was acquired by Overwolf they loaded it up with spam, some of which put malware on people's systems. Even when you managed to avoid malware, it would slow a system down and run up your CPU with all sorts of "things" it decided to do in the background.

We can go on and on.
These links go back and forth and aren't as conclusive as things looked back in 2021. So you could come away from those with an opposite conclusion. Most of my opinion is based on seeing my own computer's and those I was gaming with start having issues and comparing our Network traffic and CPU usage with each other and against systems free of Overwolf...
There are other addon managers out there that are 'ad free'. Especially after Overwolf took over Curseforge, people put together solutions to avoid infested or 'resource hijacked' systems.
That said, the Overwolf people went after any of these other options that were letting you download from their servers without having your system infected:
https://www.wowhead.com/news/the-end-of-ajour-overwolf-announces-new-api-roadmap-to-restrict-third-party-324892
So options have narrowed since I was last looking.
Maybe they're cleaning up their act now. When I gave it up they were forcing Overwolf to be run alongside it and that was a double hit of lag, spam, and weird processes running on my machines.
I used one version or another of curse's addon manager from 2006 to 2020 or 2021. Once Overwolf took over things just got really weird and stuff started happening to my system, and to a lot of people I was gaming with. So we found ways to move on. Then I moved on from the games that used those things for off-topic reasons well covered in the news.
It's been sold multiple times
I'm putting this reply in an edit before your post because talking about this, even the first mention of it above not by me - is off topic for this thread. I think there's another thread specifically about this, and I might join that.
That's my piece. Since it seems some people here have an actual affiliation with Overwolf and so will be primed to defend it, I'm not going to stick around and debate them.
Just here to note my disappointment. There still are alternatives. Like Nexus popular in the Skyrim community or Minion popular in the Elder Scrolls community. Even the 'horrid method' of using github for it that was being used by Final Fantasy MMOers for sub-parts of their now banned mod (just to give an example even worse that Overwolf - but in that case only because it's not user friendly. Technology wise the Github method was actually the most the most security conscious).
But I imagine Overwolf has better company reps that were more polished in presenting the offer.
.
Thank you for compiling this list of FAQ. It is very helpful. I am relieved that it looks like I can still use those mods who might not end up on the new platform and happy that they remain free of charge.
The initial launch will be PC only. Mac users will get access later, probably early 2023.
