I can't imagine them showing features 3+ years in advance so I had to go with 2025. Because there could be a LOT of technilogical advances that happen in that time frame which could be better.
There's 2 theories floating around in my head as to why they did announce it and show off snippets of ideas they're working on so early:
To encourage hype and continued interest in The Sims because they have witnessed the uber excitement from Life Simulation fans for other game studios who are currently working on games for the same genre
To allow "playtesters" to test out features and give feedback on what works and what doesn't with plenty of time to change, add, or adjust things way before the game releases to avoid unnecessary backlash from simmers.
2022 is basically over, so that leaves all of 2023 and 2024 to finalize the game (plus continue to add to TS4 to make it as complete as possible before they discontinue creating DLC for it).
In the past when they've announced a new game, it was like a year and a half before release, but they actually gave us an approximate release year they were aiming for.
This time, they specifically stated they've never given information on a new project this far in advance and they also did not indicate any type of timeline goal for the release.
And, I could be totally wrong and just be having wishful thinking and it not actually release for 10 more years! LOL
My guess is that they plan to work on it for two more years, and then it will take one more year for them to finish it where they during the last year will not add any new larger features but just focus on making assets.
I think 2026 at the earliest. They're still in the process of figuring out exactly what they want it to be. Then, design, code, and debug applications for multiple platforms in a manner that allows them to have some sort of integrated cross platform architecture and communication. It's a long road to what they're saying that they want to develop.
While this is early for a *Sims* game to be announced, it's getting to be the norm for far more than indie games to announce that they are in production early. It seems from what they've shown us so far that they are still at the development stage, not even at the alpha stage. There is a lot more work to come!
not before 2025 dear watcher no
2025 too feels too early though
given they're only now seemingly starting with it
i barely noticed the last few years go by
but something about sims 5 in 2025 kinda rhymes sure
it'll release before i ever ask for it anyway thats what always happens
if it was up to me i would not see it before 2035 but thats quite surely not how its gonna go

2025 feels like the earliest we can expect to see it, but it really depends on how many people they have working on it and how much they already have done behind the scenes that we just don't know about yet. They've been working on it for years, so it COULD happen earlier, even if it's not likely.
And also "the next few years" in the Project Rene FAQ
Of course there is always a big difference between when they would like to release the game and the reality of the development.
Maybe 2025 is the initial goal but the launch will be postponed.
It wouldn't be the first time. Previously :
The Sims 2 initial release date was in January 2004 but the game was released in September.
The Sims 3 initial release date was on February 20, 2009 but the game was released in June.
The Sims 4 initial release date was for Early 2014 but the game was released in September.
to anyone intressted i have learn from my local gamestop store that the sims5 (project rene will take at least a good 4 years its not on the poll even if i estimated my vote 2023 you can expect the sims5 project rene around 2027 but could be shorter i am only making an estimate here
If you went the sims5 to remain offline feel free to sign this petition http://chng.it/gtfHPhHK please note that it is also to keep the gallery
2025 when they have gotten the very last dime they can out of selling the add-on content they already have. We may see a few bits and bobs to keep us all going here and there but the big reveal I doubt will come before 2025.
Games this substantial take time and the game is early in development. Wouldn't surprise me if it came out even later than 2026, but that got my vote. I'd rather be wrong and pleasantly surprised than expect it years before it's actually due.
I'd also go for 26 or later. This will take time and currently it seems very difficult for the industry to stick to their release schedules anyway. Which is why I assume, that they will try to be as vague as possible when it comes to timeframes.
Hopefully, they will release some great stuff for Sims 4 in the meantime. π
I think sometime in 2024 - early 2025 is a safe bet for a release, the end of 2024 is still two years away and it seems like they're already quite a way into development judging by what we've seen (it looks like they've been working on build mode/world design for a while already). Plus this is a big company so development time will be a lot quicker than the likes of Paralives for example.
I'm thinking they might do something similar to the Sims 4 create a sim demo though so I think we'll be able to play with the other parts of the game like build mode or create a sim long before the actual release.
I'm assuming the earliest is 2025. Gameplay may take a while to develop (and I hope it does so that they dive deeper into it) and since gameplay is the last thing to be developed and the game is in its early stages, I highly doubt it'd be released within the next year and a half.
2025 is the optimistic version imo. It could be even 5 years from now. It all depends what stage the game is in right now and how bare bone the base game is going to be. The more they intend to add I would expect the longer waiting.

It would also be like 2014 + The Sims 4
2024 is the 10th anniversary of TS4, it would be inappropriate

Last year, they said "many more years." Though from this summit, I thought the language changed. Lyndsay said:
"next couple of years" and "several years"
